IF we could get him for R2.. would you do it..his health issues are a fair weight.... the again I look at Brayshaw , and how he has returned....

The article by Jay Clark .... it did clarify one thing that I was unaware of. We knew about trading our R1 this year , Exceptions etc.. but I didn't know that any restriction that the 2 in 4 will NEVER affect the current year R1.

So in fact if we fail to have 2 in 4 , it will on prevent us from trading our future picks.

So I agree that there would be very few players id consider trading our R1 for .. and 2mp type would be one. Josh Kelly etc. Players that would improve our side but have years and years ahead of them. Certainly not Jack Steven or that type. I cant say I totally happy with this clarification.. is it like employing a sugar addict at a lollie factory and say ..have all you want. ... NO .. but if Geelong wants they could literally go an indefinite period without R1 picks.. yet because we don't have a future to add to our current r1 with any trade.. so we may struggle to ever get that big fish.

Probably yes to R2 if we think his concussions are ok as the chance of getting good kpf after 25 is low (yes i know his brother is an exception)...no way would i trade R1 for him.

McCartin for the right price would be excellent. 2019 second round pick or fin the eagles trade a compo pick for Kelly I’d trade one of those.
Can’t see how he’d fit at the swans with his brother plus buddy and reid if he ever plays.

Geez the McCartin thread on the Saints board is scathing !! Fair to say they don't rate him at all. It's worse than a Cam Guthrie thread.

Be a rare time that is board is offering more up than they are asking. Most saying a pick in the 40's and run over there.

It's a worry that they watch him so much and don't rate him at all. I just think of how long it took for Hawkins who was very similar to Paddy. Tbone was unfit, could take the occasional super mark. Was a very dodgy kick and lacked a lot of confidence but you knew he had talent. He did have the advantage that the ball was coming in 65+ times a game with some pretty decent mids kicking it his way. People forget he only just made the 2011 finals team in his 6th year.

Is Paddy the same or is he just a dud. I think the Swans will also get involved given they have his brother and players going the other way.

McCartin is derided because he was picked ahead of Petracca (which was a bad call). If he was picked at 20 no one would care as his performances are ok. The real issue is can he get his fitness to the level needed with diabetes and how bad are the concussions. The talent is ok.

So why not I say. We only have three players that can mark a football fwd of center. Menzel will go so that leaves Hawkins and SavRat (who is now being hyped to bubble proportions).

If it's a pick around 40 then I say 'yes'.

Tim Kelly scored an invite to the Cats Brownlow table :)

(Along with Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield, Mark Blicavs, Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Tom Stewart)

Given the club chooses who attends (outside of club captain and past winners), seems like an interesting choice if he was on the way out of the club

Showing the Eagles/Freo that he in our bests and we wont give him up cheap? Savvy, I like it.
Showing Kelly that he belongs? Also Savvy.

Hawks had no currency for O'Meara and still got him.

Hawks gave away pick 10 and future 2nd rounder for O'Meara so hardly no currency, Eagles have nothing close to that and pretty sure a future 1st wont cut it because it could end up being end of 1st round which is unders. If Gaff stays they will have even less to offer.

So looks like we (GFC) are looking at all their options with either this years Pick 11 or 12?? Or next years 1st rounder (8-18)
So what is Sean Darcy worth Pick 19-25 early second ?? What is Stefan Martin worth 30-40 ?? Peter Wright 20's ?? Wingard ??
Or are we trying to slide back into the 20's this year ?? Port's 21 & 27?? Suns 26 & 29?? Carltons 24 & 25 ?? Crows 15 or 19 & 37 ??
Bailey Scott's decision is pivotal here. If its us, then it will cost us a pick between 18-30. If not then we will have 2 free hits before the Brownless pick.
Or are we after a young star in Walsh?? Our Pick 11 and next years 1st...to Carlton??
Or something with the Suns?? Do they need all their picks this year??
Interesting few weeks ahead.
For what its worth I'd try and pry Sean Darcy from Freo now rather than later. For Pick 11?? Nah a little too high. But if we could turn it into two picks in the 20's i'd give pick 22 or 26 for him and keep the other lets say Pick 25.
Cheers Boys.
We just need more data before we can entertain a down grade for more picks.. comp picks, priority picks etc. or upgrade for a chance to get someone with an early pick... but some thing that would be considering we get booted out to 16 for eg.

It s unfortunate that the #1 gets so much attention ..and they have no control over being the picked player.

Really think Rohan is not worth draft picks except late (post 60), as you already have the risk of his salary against not playing much. To be hard headed, Cockatoo has been a bust of a low first round pick as he has hardly played (despite looking the goods). How much more competitive would we have been the last few years if we had Jake Lever or Isaac Heeney or Toby McLean - all taken well after Nakia. A fit Nakia would make a huge difference to us, but we are probably down to a 50% chance of that happening and this is probably the last year we coming up for his body to deliver. If he came good with Fogerty, James, etc we would materially improve but its a high risk. Which is why to me bringing in Rohan, McCartin, etc seems to be just doubling down and asking for trouble. I really think our club needs to improve in testing and predicting durability when drafting and trading.
Where would of lever played last year. Not ahead of henderson or longergan. Not much of an upgrade on stewart. This year he was injured just like cockatoo.

Hawks got that pick 10 by burning through other picks and currency...

Eagles could do it, but probably shouldn't. If they even explore the option then they'll have to be committing to a big investment in futures to get it done

Jarrod Brander? ... plus Mutimer or Nelson, if we were playing hardball ...
