20 and 22 are not equivalent to 6. Can we stop misinterpreting the purpose of draft points?
Maybe we should get picks 44 to 54. That's the same as pick one :D
Any takers for that trade ;)

Bryce Gibbs requested a trade to Adelaide which didn’t go through. He then had a great season for Carlton and went to Adelaide after that season.

Moral of the story - professional players will do their jobs to the best of their abilities. They have too much at stake not to give it their all.

Thats correct "professional players" will do their jobs, TK has proven during this trade period that he's not a professional with the way he and his camp have acted.

The club believes they are closer to a flag than most of the rest of us. That’s the other reason they’ve been only interested in trading Kelly if it’s the best deal. The eagles picks are close to the right deal a little under. But they think they’ll compete next year so better to have Kelly who will help with that. Also why they traded in Dahlhaus and Rohan two players who could also help with that.

It’s possible they are right but not my opinion. Hence I would’ve traded Kelly for those picks and hit the draft. Means the club would be adding 3 players from picks 12,20,22 to develop. And I’d use Narkle, Parfitt and constable more through the middle.

I think Kelly will still play well for the club next year. He will again request a trade to the eagles. They might give their first or second round pick and cats will have to accept it because he’ll be out of contract.

Kelly is not committed to GFC. Gibbs was not committed to CFC. Correct me if I’m wrong but Bryce is no longer playing for CFC... What benefit was gained from him spending an extra year at Carlton?

Ryan O'Keefe requested a trade from Sydney to Hawthorn after the 08 season.

No trade was agreed to and O'Keefe ended up playing another 6 seasons at the Swans

I think Freo will be a factor again next year, perhaps even moreso as they will have a better draft position than WC.

Kelly will request a trade again next year if he is not traded before tomorrow’s deadline. This has been explicitly stated by Kelly’s manager on behalf of Kelly. It’s naive to think otherwise.

I won't really get into it, but Kelly has been committed to West Coast from the moment we drafted him last year - he still had a pretty good year for us. So I reckon he'll be good next season again for us. My fear is that he'll get a serious injury... but thats just a bit of paranoia.

I don’t doubt that for a second.

I guess the point of contention is that I’d prefer maximum compensation for Kelly this year. You’d accept less compensation next year with the “trade off” being that we get an extra year from Kelly. I completely understand that point of view but I just don’t agree with it.

Kind of feel that any Shiel deal will set off the dominos tomorrow. I reckon it is holding everything else up.

FWIW I would also prefer to trade Kelly out this year - and I'll be hoping for maximum compensation (20, 22 and next years Rd1) by tomorrow night.
But if it doesn't happen, I expect good output next year.

Ok but 20 or 22 are better than the 24 we used on Kelly so it's a win regardless how you look at it.

Again, that’s incorrect and a sunk cost fallacy. When we used p24 TK hadn’t played 23 AFL games, polled 13 Brownlow votes and placed 2nd in the B&F. His value has risen dramatically.

So its fair to say Pick 59 + 60 will be used for points on Brownless. That's 304 points, with the 20% discount, takes us to net 380 points, which is Pick 43 or worse. Its probably fair to say bidding on Brownless will be after Pick 35 at least, and probably after 43 too.

This means at least two live picks at 12 and 50. Maybe someone will slip through to us at Pick 50.

I know that his value has risen. It should now be double what we got him for, that's why 20 & 22 are around the mark.

Bullshit, at pick 24 means he was rated by Wells and he got it right.

Again... more dribble.... Wrong on your first comment. backed it up with this??
Does it mean he is rated as a pick 20 or 22 now?? An upgrade of 2 or 4 slots???
If so lets do a deal with the Eagles for picks 20 + 22 and get two Tim Kelly for the price of one??
Enough... Enough... I'm getting off this merry-go-round.
But before i go... I will say that Kelly was a great pick up at 24.
He has excelled to the point he easily a Top 5 pick if he were in the Draft this year.
Ready to go slot into the Midfield or forward line 22 game player who will average 22 plus give u much much more.
Cheers... GO CATTERS!!
