I'm not disagreeing with you. As it won't happen, Gaz asked a question if they offer that would you do it and I would...
I wouldn't do it for all the tea in china.

Hawthorn, who won 3 on the trot on the back of bringing in free agents and trading in experience to top up, is getting advice from a club whose best achievement since 2011 is finding out that dwarves are flammable .

I would too. Pick 24 for 20 + 22. Nice pay off for a one year investment.
If we don't take it we're stuffed. Pick 12 then 50!
Can really consolidate on building a new team with 3 picks in the top 25 in a good draft.
Danger, Selwood, Ablett, Duncan, Menegola, now Dollhouse.
How many bloody mids do we need next year.
Unless we truly honestly think we can win a flag next year it would be negligent of the club not to do take it.
Except if we only have 3 spots on our list ahead of draft night, pick 22 would most likely then be used on Brownless, and he isn't rated as a top 25 pick.

Geelong is pushing for a single higher pick compared to 2 pretty good picks with a key reason being we are tight on list spots.

2 top 12 picks & pick 50 work out better for us in terms of list spots - we get 2 good players with those first couple of picks and then get Brownless with our last using a pick that is closer to his value

Kelly will request a trade again next year if he is not traded before tomorrow’s deadline. This has been explicitly stated by Kelly’s manager on behalf of Kelly. It’s naive to think otherwise.

No you are so right. Let's take as gospel what that guy says. Anything can happen in 12 months. He might feel different. Her parents might move. They might feel more comfortable. It's not like his manager has said anything stupid and appeared to be posturing at all has he...hahahaha but you go with him good plan.

There is just on way we would use 22 on brownless or leave ourselves in a position where we couldn't use pick 22 on draft night. Crazy suggestion.

I'd say we'd comfortably get Brownless for 50.
We don't have to take him anyway. Just get the 3 best players.

So has Bailey Scott fallen off our radar?

Maybe he's seen Geelong's dealings with Tim Kelly and thought we're not the destination club people make us out to be.

You honestly believe that Kelly might be at Geelong post 2019?! Get your head out of the sand. Seriously!

How about Zac Smith and we pay his wage and 2019 2 or 3rd rounder for GWS pick 25, giving us picks 12, 20, 22 & 25 greatest influx of top end talent since early 2000's.

We wouldn't use Pick 22 on Brownless... No, lol.

Pick 59 and 60 is used for Brownless, there is no chance he will be bid on inside Top 30. We have enough points for bidding up to Pick 43 just using Pick 59 + 60. Otherwise we have Pick 50 in the mix for extra points.

Plenty of decent footballers at Pick 20 and 22 - go look at Chayce Jones, Liam Stocker, Sam Sturt, Bailey Williams, etc etc.

This draft isn't as good as last year IMO for depth, but there is decent players that could turn into Best 22 players for the future.

I have a feeling it's maybe not just a lower pick. It might be + PLUS PLAYER X...
I mean a decent player not a Spud MacDougal.
When Wells says we are so far apart...
It's most likely not about just pick/s or where they land... even though i'm pretty sure Wells wants a low pick.
But more so about a player we want in exchange for Tim Kelly.
That's what i'm reading into it.
Interesting 24 hours to come.
Cheers

Why would we use pick 22 on Brownless? That doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Add Duursma to that list please.

Edit - and Butters.

and what if say back in June for example Kelly extended for 4 years.... We'd be going in with 12 then 50.
Now he wants out and all of a sudden accepting crud is a good move. No way Jose.

We'd be negligent to accept that crap.

One would think that Master Leathlean needs to pay some attention to his own backyard, and given the past year he has had, he might like to recall that old saying about glass houses, etc. Good God the ego on the guy to be lecturing clubs who are successful when he has been in Footy ops for 5 minutes.

Yeah I've heard Pelchen saying the same thing the last few weeks. Didn't he leave the Hawks for the saints and sell their stars for shit a few years back?

I was thinking this myself. This is the likely outcome IMO. A compromise of sorts.

some people have too much ego and aren't willing to cut their losses

20 and 22 is reasonable, anything more is gravy

holding out cos we cant get a top 10 pick is very stupid

List spots shouldnt be a problem we have Thurlow, Menzel and Murdoch who can be dumped even Smith can be moved on

So at this stage we have picks
12, 50, 59, 60
I'm actually interested to see who we pick with 50, 59, 60! I know one of the be Brownless but the other 2 picks. I like seeing the bargain picks, we got Menegola with a late pick so hope we can pick up a good State League Player. . hopefully Atkins at least gets rookie listed

I wouldn't do it for all the tea in china.
I would however as a compromise, look at 20 and 22 and their 2019 1st round for our 2019 2nd round
That way we would have three ok picks this year in 12, 20 and 22 and next year have two first rounders as well and the capacity to sell them off again if we get a second back.
That is the only compromise I'd consider
I think West Coast have been lazy on the trading those two picks front though. Believe they though Wellsy would wilt on humanitarian grounds. Hopefully the review has taken Geelong's humanity into account this year. No nice guys.
I reckon we did well getting p59 for GHS too
