He had the same family situation this year and played fine.
The deal being offered this year is not substantially better than what we will get next year which is why we are better off to keep him for another 12 mobths.
If it's pick 20 & not 22, it would tick off the 2 in 4 rule for first round picks and allow us to trade one or both first round picks next year if the right player became availableI still reckon this will get done. Probably pick 20 and 2019 first rounder. Overall that's not a bad result and gives us 4 pretty early looks across the next 2 drafts.
No I don’t think the eagles are desperate enough to make the deal happen. They just won the flag and they’re happy. He would actually improve the eagles a lot though. They should do the trade but it doesn’t seem they’re prepared to lose what geelong wants to gain. I’d much rather get it done now and move on. As much as it’s a joy watching Kelly in Cats colours it’s a great opportunity to get some good draft picks. We are both Cats Fans and we are keyboard warriors ( in a good way lol )
Just your personal appion , do you think Kelly will get traded ?
I hope the Cats throw a late pick at the giants and see if we can grab a bargain. Patton and Finlayson appear to still be available. For pick 60 it’d be worth a shot
I really dont see the waste of 12 months bit.
He is giving us 700k output on 100k wages next year regardless of what the trade in 12 months is.
Henderson would want to find form though as I was even less impressed by him than Taylor when they played.
I think a lot of us would agree with the Velvet Sledgehammer on this one.
Sad to see Harry possibly end like this but Father Time waits for no man.
Less risk than Scully.I’m not here to change your mind, but what I’m thinking, how much does one year of Tim Kelly help us long term, how professional will he be, how will the strain on his home life affect his play, if something was to happen in his relationship how does reflect on the club, how professional will his teamates be, what if WC just decides he isn’t worth trading for, what if in 12 months he decides Freo is fine, what’s the likelihood of him &/or family doing a complete 180 & wanting to continue his career here.
Too many questions, I don’t see how any deal will be significantly better this time next season so get it done now, get the 12 months into his replacment/s.
This why if Menzel doesn't play at Geelong next year, I wouldn't mind Sav and Henderson playing in the Forward line .Henderson would want to find form though as I was even less impressed by him than Taylor when they played.
Just asking Uncle Max? Who he?Uncle Max's thoughts on the trade period so far...
TK - great fun watching WCE supporters squirm. Not so great seeing Cats supporters wanting to roll over. I hope he stays, but if he goes I hope we get exactly what Wells is looking for.
Rohan - welcome son. Hope your inconsistency is left behind in Sydney.
Dalhaus - nothing to complain about here!
Kreuger- Wow! What a left-field surprise. No pressure Freddy, but hopefully you will flourish next to Hawk and SavRat.
GHS - good luck in La La Land George. You seem a great guy and you're a pretty good player to boot.
Menzel, Murdoch, Thurlow - what will be, will be. Hopefully the club works this out so no-one loses.
Other than that, it would be cool to see a surprise trade sometime today.
Oh, and on Hawthorn. Scully is the same type of gamble as Macintosh. Scrimshaw Redemption? Hope it works out for you - not.
Not your daddy.Just asking Uncle Max? Who he?
Although Menzel isn't mobile in a pressure sense he still has some crumbing ability and nous once the ball hits the ground - I consider that a weakness for Hendo. He hasn't played forward properly for ages either. But IF Menzel isn't in the team, my preference is to go for someone with a bit of speed like Rohan. This why if Menzel doesn't play at Geelong next year, I wouldn't mind Sav and Henderson playing in the Forward line .
And play Taylor Dow Defence
FP Ablett, Hawkins, Dahlhaus
CHF Henderson Sav, Parfitt.. .
Early days of course, but Kreuger might fit that bill better.Although Menzel isn't mobile in a pressure sense he still has some crumbing ability and nous once the ball hits the ground - I consider that a weakness for Hendo. He hasn't played forward properly for ages either. But IF Menzel isn't in the team, my preference is to go for someone with a bit of speed like Rohan.
The problem with Henderson is Kolo has shown signs more recently of being better suited than he as a genuine KPD who locks down and negates. Hendo in 2016-2017 was good as an intercepting third tall but the problem is Stewart has come in and essentially played that role but with increased speed and mobility. Then we all know about Blicavs moving back and being a star. I won't write Henderson off yet as Taylor's just about done but him in the team probably means Kolo goes back to a medium drifter where he never seems to excel that much.
Agreed he along with others have definitely been found out under finals pressure/pace. But over the past few seasons he's gradually taken less of the impressive marks and set shot conversions than early on. He kicks quite a few on the run. It doesn't make him a crumber but I was comparing him and Henderson, who when forward was very much a lead and mark player. That's the comparison we are making here. Henderson resembled the Queen Mary more than anyone this year. How Kolo (young, played out of position) and Menzel (broken) cop it more than Hendo on here is beyond me.Menzel can not run and turns like the queen mary..and that gets found out more in finals as the pace goes up
Bews-Blicavs-HenryHenderson should cop it as he does get found out like Menzel in finals..i now do not like we have Henderson as think we are better with out him
Bews-Blicavs-Henry
Touhy-Kolo-Stewart
Is the backline I'd like to back in. One of Taylor or Henderson as backup is fine, but I doubt they use Henderson as that.
Trying to keep this somewhat on topic, a positive of the inclusions of Rohan and Dahlhaus is hopefully there is less of a need for Henry to play forward. He can continue his very impressive development down back. Especially if Sav can operate as another target.
No worries glad that's sorted then.no kolo shouldn't ever get another game
Hard to believe the club could get it so wrong really.no kolo shouldn't ever get another game
What happening with Thurlow?
I am one of the fantasists still thinking he could make it...
There was an article this morning that said Thurlow might be going after the trade period.Hoping Brisbane spend the rest of the day focused on Neale that they don’t have enough time to do a quick deal for Thurlow.
I still believe in you Jackson!
