Hawthorn, who won 3 on the trot on the back of bringing in free agents and trading in experience to top up, is getting advice from a club whose best achievement since 2011 is finding out that dwarves are flammable .
They also dumped an aboriginal player for sexual assault who was acquitted and kept a white guy accused of sexual assault and supported him in court and he was found guilty. They passed to a girl child pictures of their naked selves that were thrust over social media too. Not sure why they dropped their number 1 who went close to the norm smith against Collingwood, but still something dodgy happened there. And then there was Butterss. Such a proud recent history.

some people have too much ego and aren't willing to cut their losses

20 and 22 is reasonable, anything more is gravy

holding out cos we cant get a top 10 pick is very stupid

List spots shouldnt be a problem we have Thurlow, Menzel and Murdoch who can be dumped even Smith can be moved on

What can be 100% certain, is whatever outcome is achieved, you will no doubt bitch about it. I’ll bet you were fully in the wells will just roll over and we will get bugger all for kelly camp last week too.

Haters gonna hate.

Except if we only have 3 spots on our list ahead of draft night, pick 22 would most likely then be used on Brownless, and he isn't rated as a top 25 pick.

Geelong is pushing for a single higher pick compared to 2 pretty good picks with a key reason being we are tight on list spots.

2 top 12 picks & pick 50 work out better for us in terms of list spots - we get 2 good players with those first couple of picks and then get Brownless with our last using a pick that is closer to his value
Cut Murdoch. Problem solved.

why dont you quote posts instead of making up things

I'd have been prepared to accept pick 20 and next years first for our next years second

more than that is on offer so I say take it

what i wouldnt accept is pick 20 on its own or not getting a trade done if the offer is reasonable

personally i'd take the 2 picks in the 20's and try work with GC to get a few more picks in the 20's (assuming they wont need them all)

should try and get as many half decent picks so we can turf at least Menzel and Murdoch (i assume Thurlow will get picked up)

I think they see 2019 as our last real crack at a flag with this group. In that sense I fully agree with Wells, a top 10 pick could potentially come in and play a role in that, but otherwise we are better of with Kelly for 2019 and start the rebuild after that.

We are equal 9th favourite for the flag and given our recent finals efforts we are a very long shot.

It's not all going to click next year, if the list was going to win a flag it would have happened already.

I have a feeling it's maybe not just a lower pick. It might be + PLUS PLAYER X...
I mean a decent player not a Spud MacDougal.
When Wells says we are so far apart...
It's most likely not about just pick/s or where they land... even though i'm pretty sure Wells wants a low pick.
But more so about a player we want in exchange for Tim Kelly.
That's what i'm reading into it.
Interesting 24 hours to come.
Cheers

I think we want Venables ....

Cats up the ante on Kelly

Geelong has turned up the heat on West Coast as it bids for Tim Kelly by demanding a future first-round pick be included in any trade for the contracted midfielder.

AFL.com.au understands the Cats have asked for the Eagles' first-round selection in next year's draft in addition to West Coast's existing offer of picks No.20 and No.22.

INDICATIVE DRAFT ORDER Your club's picks

Should the Eagles finish top four again next season, that selection would fall anywhere between 15-18.

The Cats' asking price for Kelly emerged after list boss Stephen Wells indicated on Tuesday that a deal remained unlikely before Wednesday's deadline.

AFL.com.au reported on Monday night the Eagles had put picks 20 and 22 on the table for Kelly.

Signed for 2019 at GMHBA Stadium, Kelly is open to returning to Geelong if the deal falls through but will not entertain a move to Fremantle.

With three children under the age of three, the 24-year-old has asked the Cats to explore a move home to WA for family reasons.

So Wells heard people thought cats were soft at the trade table.
Eagles: Hello this should be straight forward
Offer pick 20
Wells: More
Eagles Pick 20 and 22
Wells: More
Wells: We’ll take Brander, Pick 20,22 and 2019 first round pick.
Eagles: Brander isn’t available
Wells: Sorry we couldn’t reach an agreemnt

I hope the Cats throw a late pick at the giants and see if we can grab a bargain. Patton and Finlayson appear to still be available. For pick 60 it’d be worth a shot
Salary cap. Patton is on squillions.

Salary cap. Patton is on squillions.
My issue also is that Patton is a man mountain who isn't the most mobile around anyway.. And is coming back from his 3rd knee...
Even for cheap I'm not sure I'm even entertaining the idea

Afl.com reporting that Geelong have asked for picks 20,21 and eagles 2019 first round pick.
Who the **** knows...media flogs also “understood” that before this WC wouldn’t even consider a future R1 being in play.

Unless they’re deliberately asking for something they know WC won’t give so as to keep Kelly.
