I wonder if teams will make it a little harder for us than usual, thinking “nah, **** them”.

sort of like giving trade week responsibilities to BigFooty mods for each team.... we want 4r1 picks for a guy who plays VFL. Geelong... you want this pick give us dangerfield and Holmes

They have 43 and 53. 43 is fair but the issue is we cant carry more 2022 picks and we need a future 2nd (ie send sav 48 and 53 for someones future 2nd) but pear cant trade their fr2 if their fr1 goes to nm. So it probably needs a 3 club trade (maybe tied in with gws who can trade a future 2nd) if sav is to go to pear.
Subtle yet excellent. This needs to become a thing.

You’d think the longer it goes on the less likely Bowes comes to us, expected an announcement early on.
Feels that way. Or it could also be that he's chosen us and Mackie has asked him not to announce anything until the Henry trade is sorted so Collingwood don't push for pick 7.

Wont play finalsthough.
True, but he might not here either. We will play finals, but he's taking a big gamble on getting a game here. But he will walk straight into Hawks 22 and probably be paid more there too.

The easier decision is to pick Hawks but if he's willing to back himself and work his backside off, we are clearly a more attractive proposition as a successful club with a great culture.

I suspect that's what he's currently wrestling with..

The Hawks does make sense.

More money
Will play round 1
Will play best position
Yeah - some important considerations there for Bowes. It's a big decision where he's curently at in his career, a Hawks move has a lot of benefits for him.

But so does a move here if he is prepared to work hard and believes in himself. Finals every year, great culture, good development systems and program, great facilities etc.

GWS did last year, they pushed hard on Cameron, on the flip side we seem to get very well looked after by Gold Coast.

But if you burn bridges, you get shit on. See Essendon and Dodo.

Theres two issues.
One is brisbane can only use as many picks to match bids as they have list spots. Second #15 will be going for dunkley anyway and im not sure the dogs would trade down from 15.
Lions are gonna go into deficit so much it ain't funny if they use 15 on Dunkley (and they very well may do so).

Agree plus hawks will offer more $ but we offer a better lifestyle if he wants a surf lifestyle.

Yeah but the dogs wont trade him for fr1 alone so #15 will have to go and if they trade fr1 the deficit doesnt matter anyway.

Bowes to Hawks chatter gaining momentum. This is what happened when Hopper flipped.
Flipped?? He never committed.

The amount of incorrect “inside info” that floats on here is ridiculous. They really can’t lose on these predictions.

If you get 3 things wrong in a post season, some will still eat up the “itk” cats calls as ppl want to believe.

Mind you, if the Pies will accept pick 18 for Henry as seems to be the case it does seem a very reasonable deal.

Id say historically its slightly generous but Im fine with that ... various in draft strength, being out of contract etc etc. ...id not even mind if he accepted the 12 month offer from the Pies ..and let them show him there is a spot for him cause if there is not..then in 12 months he is worth an R2

Jhye Clark would have had a restless nights sleep last night.

Let’s hope the mail has been correct the last few weeks and Bowes selects Geelong. Surely the influence of Paddy and Gaz carries some weight. There’s enough uncertainty / destabilising factors at Hawthorn and Essendon that hopefully pushes Bowes our way.

Its all good fun. Im not fussed one way or the other really. Its not make or break cause as this year shows a draft selection itself has the hold of a Sticky Note.

Id be apprehensive about selecting a WA kid atm. West Coast are done with big deal and my bet the PSD will gradually become more accepted to use.

I have tried but I do not understand the reasoning behind having to use as many picks as they have list spots. Does that mean when you bundle up some of those picks to get a f/s, you then have list spots that can’t be filled?

Heard yesterday clubs can only go into deficit 1700ish points max.

I have not crunched all the numbers with the Lions, but without 1st rounders for 2x years and needing to bid on Ashcroft + Fletcher and trade in Dunkley + Gunston, the points don't really look to add up.

Interesting times ahead at Brisbane... Think they got some work to do.

Unsure if they can make the points for Fletcher + Ashcroft without going over 2 years of deficit (which I'm not even sure is allowed).

It's a first for the AFL... I won't be surprised if some funky stuff happens and we learn as it happens in front of us.

You believe what you want to believe.

Yeah it's sounding like Hawks are in prime position now.

Bowes is best mates with Jack Scrimshaw.

They also have Jaeger O'Meara (Ex-gold coast).

For all the Bowes talk from all clubs, i am pretty certain the appeal of pick 7 outweighs the player in question.. and who knows how that deal would even play out.
So surely it is a good if it works, but for us... not the end of the world if it doesn't happen
