Fancy signing that spud Jenkins for 5 years at 600. Unforgivable.

Unfortunately you need a player like Jenkins being overpaid to break the fantasy about keeping players at all cost/valuing player retention over common sense.

And therein lies a big part of this clubs problems. Let's ignore this game as an aberration and get back to what we do best - overeating ourselves.
It's a tough spot. The very best sides of recent eras have spoken about not spending too much time on losses like this.

Teams like St Kilda, Carlton etc spend too much time analysing these things if you listen to their coaches.

It's a fine line.

Ugly and Bad
This and BT
Woke up this morning and had a really bad feeling like I posted.
Then along comes one of our NT Greats Gilbert and his recognition of the tree where his family parked up.
When asked about who would win he said spiritually Melb but didn't really commit

Then all game I knew we were stuffed and BT turned into a tree hugger
A curator of all AFL desert grounds and a condescending lover of all things Indegenous

It's not something that can ever be known for certain, but Bryce Gibbs in 2017 was definitively better than every midfielder in the Crows bar Rory Sloane, and certainly better than every Richmond mid bar Dusty, it's absurd to suggest that inserting him at the expense of a bottom mid would not have impacted the outcome
So he was better than our BnF winner, and a fit brother of said BnF winner

Wrong again.

He would have made a tiny difference, but as we have seen, he's gone missing when it's tough.

I did not watch the game on TV today and I have no regrets with that decision.

I might not watch another Crows game for the rest of the season.

I start off watching, and can usually tell within the first five or so minutes how it's going to turn out.

Today I switched off after Melbourne kicked their third goal in those first few minutes. I could see the attitude and lack of effort from the Crows. I listened on the radio, and checked out BF. That way I didn't have to actually watch the pathetic performance.

Ignore the game.

Yes

But not what lead to it.

How much different would it be if mvgovern was paid the push in the back/ holding on that lead to collision with Douglas late in the showdown?

Odds are he would have, seeing he'd be taking the 3rd/4th midfielder in a rotation.

He's gone missing when forced to play as a lone hand in a midfield, but if you give him the cover he'd be a damaging option.

Yeah, but don't dare blame Jacobs who's an all-round good bloke o_O.

Actually, that's probably unfair --- he is a good bloke, good-hearted, loyal, a gentleman.
But he was crap today and has been palming to oppo mids most of the year.
Just the kind of person who can be our next Ruck Coach

Do you think the percentage loss will hurt our chance at a flag this year?
125% down to 109% --- so, waddaya reckon? o_O

To have a chance at the Flag, we'd need to finish Top 4 and 109% or thereabouts won't cut it.
Then we'd have to make the GF. At this point in time, I can't see it.
We're the Adelaide Crows, not Lazarus.

Just my 2 bobs worth. A really bad day at the office where we were for whatever reasons not prepared to work as hard as melbourne. Put it in the memory bank and move on to the next game. This week's game will show how much the players hurt from the effort they put in today. We move on
