Oue future midfield Pedlar and Soligo combined for 12 touches all game. Am I missing something?
Looking at the stats pedlar had zero center bounce attendances, not easy to dominate as a mid if you don’t get played there.

Which under 50 game youngsters will they blame this loss.

the loss of that game rests directly on the shoulders of RORY SLOANE.

about 4 to 5 of his * ups and snail paced movements resulted directly in Essendon goals.

then, when he didn't even get the ball, there was his opponent running off him and creating goal opportunities for the bombers.

that was a “Curtly Hampton’s last game” type performance..

he should be forced to front up to the media on Monday and announce his retirement.

but hey presto.. its his 250th next week!..

he’s a lock.

what a shitful club.

Whats worse though; Rory Sloane or the idiots that insist on playing him as an AFL level Rover?

Good:
  • Dawson. Our only clear standout player.
  • Pedlar was good when in the centre bounces.
  • Worrell played a good game.
  • Hinge was good for the most part, except for those 2 really bad turnovers

Bad:
  • The amount of turnovers we had. Direct kicks (and some handpasses) to the opposition.
  • Umpiring. Paying 10m marks to Essendon, then not paying after disposal hits to the Crows. Not paying blocks towards the Crows.
  • Many players were bad: Sholl, Milera, McHenry, Murphy, Soligo, Rachele, Michalanney, Thilthorpe, Sloane, ...

Ugly:
- Every time Essendon just broke through our tackles or ran past.

On another note: Essendon have a really really good group of youngsters coming through: Hobbs, Perkins, Martin, etc.

Bad: nicks continues to not trust the kids in the important games
CBA’s for pedlar, soligo and Rachele
4 vs collingwood
41 vs north
25 essendon

Edit: the stats showed zero when I made this post.

I disagree with the lesson you're taking from this.

The acid should be on the younger players - why didn't any of them stand up and take control of the game? Why do their efforts consistently have little impact on the results of games?

Sure we lost the game because the senior players s**t the bed, but the most important question is why is that still the case? We should be well past that by now.
Its pretty obvious why..

we’ve spent the last three to four years “developing“ sloane, keays, laird, mcrouch in the midfield..

then when we need to turn to our youngsters.. they haven't got the experience to do the job.

They have never been given the opportunity to do so.

Did not turn up apparently.

Didn't start playing until the third qtr.

Played like rubbish and only lose by 3 goals... after being 8 goals down...the only bit of good I can find from only being able to watch the last half.

Eyes should be on next year. Rory, Smurph, Ned, you're not playing for the rest of the year, said no Crows selector ever.

Good: Rory Lairds largely useless disposal tally ticking over to 30 in the last 90 seconds of the game.
Secured me a 150-1 multi.

I swear he had a few in the first qtr and looked ok. Nothing after that

The Good:

Dawson – very good 2nd half.
Hinge – apart from those 2 poor kicks in the 3rd. Has to be tried in the midfield. Tough, aggressive, skillful.
McHenry – Good game. Imagine if a few of his better skilled teammates had his aggression and courage. I don’t believe he’s AFL standard but you have to give the kid credit.
Laird

The Bad:

Victorian umpiring – We just have to accept that when we play in Victoria we get absolutely slaughtered by the umpires. It’s not just the ones they get it’s the blatant free kicks that they miss for us especially at crucial moments in the game. The Dawson blatant 50 in the 3rd and the O’Brien block in the 4th. National competition my ass.
Nicks – I’ve always given him the benefit of the doubt given the horrendous list he was handed. But he’s been there 5 years now. He’s just not a very good coach.
Murphy – Typical Murphy nothing game.
Sloane – Just retire – NOW. Embarrassing.
Soligo. I had high expectations at the start of the year but - hmmmm. Given his age you have to give him some leeway and give him a pass for the season.
Young midfielders – they don’t exist.

The Soft:

Milera – zero intensity at the man.
Sholl – Would get out bodied in the under 14’s.
Rachelle – He’s only young but I hate to call this kid out but he really doesn’t like hitting the body/contest. That play in the 3rd was cringeable. Will he ever be tough enough to be considered a genuine full time midfielder?
McHenry good? Once you read that can just ignore the rest of the shit you post lmao. How do you mute a poster?

I keep hearing this, but the more things go on the less I believe it.

Which of the young mids has demanded it? Forced the issue? If they're standing around waiting for it to be handed to them then they're doing it wrong.

It's the David Mackay problem applied to an entire midfield group - berate them for continuing to select him despite his well understood shortcomings, but can anyone even name a player who was better, who put in more effort, and demanded selection instead?

0 yes 0 vs essendon
Rachele was in there

Don't think they've been put up on the AFL app yet

This is the price of stuffing up most first round picks. You're left with

33 yo sloane in the midfield (move him to a wing or drop him)
29 yo rookie pick Laird carrying the contested load in the midfield
Dawson playing midfield and defence at the same time
Bunch of kids who haven't progressed enough or aren't talented enough to play midfield
McHenry around the ball turning everything over
Murphy playing a forward who doesnt kick goals or get the pill
Hinge+Milera turning hitting Essendon playrs lace out
Making non KPD defenders play KPD (Worrell, Max)

We don't have the ceiling to win premierships unless we do miracles in trade week
Our midfield woes are Hamish's fault.

Apart from Dawson, not one decent mid between 30 and 21 years of age.
