In a pleasing win like that, it's worth thinking about which players were poor today.

Jones, McHenry, Gollant, Fogarty, Butts all poor. Dawson, Cook, Hamill, Smith and O'Brien average.

If we can win with that many players being average or worse, we can afford to roll the dice on some youth.

From that list, you've got to back in Dawson and Fogarty. O'Brien or Strachan makes no real difference. Cook has youth on his side and was good in the first half. Butts is just keeping Murray's spot warm.

Smith, Jones, McHenry, Hamill and Gollant - we should be actively searching for their replacements. We have plenty of young players selected early in the draft. Give them a go.

For what it's worth, I know Keays had a good game today, but I've liked him up forward for a long time now. I think he stays in that role until we find someone much better.

This may be an unpopular view, but I don't think that individually any of Crouch, Laird or Berry have been poor this year. It's just that collectively, they don't work. They're too one-positional, too one-pace, too similar, and they're preventing us from using our more dynamic midfielders as often as we should. The coaches were willing to move Dawson around today, and they've always moved Berry around a fair bit. They should be doing that for Laird as well. Rotate Laird between midfield and half-back, Berry between midfield and wing/forward, and Dawson all over the ground, and that suddenly opens up opportunities for the likes of Soligo, Rankine, Rachele, etc to have stints in the midfield. Or in Soligo's case, becoming a permanent fixture there. With all the changing personnel we become more dynamic and less predictable.

Also, we should be doing whatever it takes to get Dawson out of the engine room, and to the outside. Unsurprisingly his best effort in the midfield today came when he wasn't actually in the contest, and could instead receive the ball in space.

Nankervis should play from now on. Has proven his worth and is already ahead of the likes of Jones and McHenry in that wing role.

Thats much better

Still some issues but kudos to the team and the coach

The positives

Rachele, Rankine, Soligo , Berry in the middle - especially Berry at the end - imagine having youth in the middle
Walker looked fit
Introducing the Dark Destroyer MR MARK KEANE
Coming back from 16 points down late

Some minor criticisms before I go look at some stats - McHenry struggled - Crouch and Keays (early) held the game up terribly
Crouch for a holiday given the current mood but as the player got up he might be ok

Good day to be a Crows fan

Good:
Attacking, fast ball movement in place of slow, boring pus

Rankine with significant midfield time

Berry’s fantastic match-winning sub performance. Looked like an absolute monster out there.

Tex back in form. The signs were there last week. Today he took the leap.

Hinge played well and actually hit some targets

Chayce’s 3rd qtr (apart from the start of the 3rd when he putridly gave a goal away)

Josh Worrell - just love the way he goes about it

LUKE NANKERVIS - how on earth could a group of professional coaches select Lachie Sholl over Nankervis up until last week? Looks a 200 game player.

Goalkicking accuracy getting us over the line in a game. When was the last time that happened?

The fact that Carlton will cry about the phantom “touched behind” which blatantly wasn’t touched deciding this game. On behalf of literally every other club / supporter in the afl: Eat s**t.

Keane’s willingness to take the game on from deep in defence. God it’s refreshing to see from a big guy.

Bad:
Dawson - Jesus, he was bad.

Rankine’s set shot goalkicking - 2 out on the fulls and one easy miss that threatened to lose us the game? Routine looks tentative and awful.

Brodie Smith - the human embodiment of “cooked”. Must be replaced by Curtin. Curtin was set to replace Hinge, but Hinge saved himself today. Smith did not.

Ugly:
Crouch will be suspended for 2-3 weeks. No escaping it.

McHenry’s entire game - simply must be the last game of his career. He is utterly hopeless. Worst player in the entire AFL vibes.

Butts - not AFL standard

ROB’s entire game - I’d say arguably the worst game of his career. Was comical.
Had a mate at the game sitting second row behind that goal umpire.

He texted me during the game the goal umpire was the only person in the stadium who thought it was touched.

Bad luck Carlton.

Fogarty is still a worry when he should be a set and forget player by now. He should be banned from trying to take it on the chest given his poor leg speed.

Blues supporters salty about that "touched" behind.

He's very concerning at the moment, I agree. But at this stage we have nobody like him to come in and replace him. For better or worse, we need to back him in and hope he comes good.

He's got the talent.

Lol. At least I’m not a fair weather fan.

They’re the worst 🤣
Good call

1 post on Mar29 - prior to that was March 2nd

And has absolutely spammed this thread :drunk:

The bad is on Brownlow night I bet it'll still be 3 votes S.Walsh which is utter bullshit

Soligo and Rankine were the two best players on the ground hell even Tex was better
Read my mind, I was just thinking about who would get 321.

I bet it will be Walsh then Curnow, 1 for Rankine.

The problem would be he's 5 years in and i'd hope by now he'd of stopped these kinda of gaffes.
Shouldn't have taken a month to work out either!
