Maybe we already have Gunston's heir apparent in Serong ...
We may do so, but Henry would easily be the best youngster we could get from a Mitchell trade to Collingwood, and I believe he'll be a multiple All-Australian in the future. We would be crazy to pass up Henry if he were offered in exchange for Mitchell.

Re-signing Gunner and securing his heir apparent Ollie Henry will be the target.
Lose Mitchell and try gain a top 30 or use in negotiations with Collingwood.
Bruhn Cats bound
Is this your plan or do you actually have info?

Wow, that is some crystal ball you have there.

If he goes to Geelong you would expect at least 4 or 5.

Obviously no chance of making All Australian if he came to Hawthorn.

.

What do they gain by "pushing a narrative?" Any narrative they "push" changes absolutely nothing in reality.

Do you really think they both came up with this idea just to wind up Hawthorn fans?

Or is it more likely that they are reporting what they have heard?

It's not as if both Bruhn and Henry would be thinking of joining us, only to be swayed by a story that suggests they are actually thinking about Geelong instead. That'd be some inception level persuasion by Twomey and Cleary.
Not what I'm saying. This is directed to posters that get wound up every time another club is linked. The outcome won't change due to the narrative these reporters push I'm just saying that the Geelong and Essendon bias these guys have will never make their stories pro-Hawthorn

Thoughts on Zac Williams?

Carlton prepared to let him go and pay a chunk of his salary.

Not sure if we’re interested yet.

God no
Injury prone since his Achilles injury
Carlton need to shed some salary in order to be able to keep some of their best players out of contract in the next 2 years
Hopefully no club helps them out and target their better players in the next few years

(someone please tell StKilda not to do anything stupid for once)

Williams. Injured a lot and plays at half back where we are stacked. Not sure it makes sense.

Williams could play on the wing opposite Amon. It could also allow Day to stay in defence for the time being. With Wingard and Impey up forward. I don’t mind it as long as he doesn’t cost anymore than a third round pick.

Would love Henry, but red flags for me that he's wanting out of a club like the Pies for more money after being there two seconds.

If he's as talented as he thinks he is, knuckle down and fight for a spot in a side that's going to play big finals.
Don’t think it’s money the writing on the wall with Johnson going past him as the season has gone on and McStay coming in. The red flag it seems is his defensive side of the ball

Can’t play wing if you keep breaking down. Again do you really want a player Carlton are desperately trying to unload??

It's ok, though. Geelong love to boast about minor premierships and AA players.

At Hawthorn, we just focus on winning Grand Finals every decade.

I would be really handy if posters would stop phrasing opinions of moves and trades as if it's a statement of fact.
It's bloody frustrating and confusing.

Here is best attempt at being a hypothetical list manger.

Trade DGB, Brockman and future 3rd round pick to Eagles for pick 2
Trade Eagles pick 2 for 2 1st round picks ( I know that I am turning my back on some very good talent)
Trade T Mitchell and our 3rd round pick( is another club's Dogs ?????) to the Pies for their 1 round pick and Ollie Henry
Trade Gunston to Brisbane for their 2nd round pick as they would want to retain free agency compo for Mcstay
Trade Brisbanes 2nd round pick for Bruhn.

End result we have 5 picks in the 1st 25 picks (4 1st round picks and 1 2nd round pick) we could hit the draft hard.
We have retain our 1st pick in next year's draft plus our 2nd which will probably be used to match a bit on McCabe.
We will also be able to pick up Lawerence with our 4th round or rookie pick.

By doing the above we get a influx of top end talent from this current draft plus 2 young players who were 1st round pick as well.

If the players we recruit end up meeting their potential I see 2024 or 2025 us playing in the finals and getting better the following years as well.

If we want to free up a list spot for pre season sup list Saunders Iwould be the unlucky one as S Mitchel and Jecka would be retained.

Now how did I go and my attempt at being McKenzie

Thoughts

It is a hypothetical trade thread. So it is all opinion based with a lot of guesswork, some wishful thinking and a sprinkle of inside knowledge. Read everything here as opinion.
Fixed it for you 😁

Look at the preceding hypothetical comment as an example of mostly wishful thinking. Love it!
