the AFL isn't inconsistent. They punish the weak to suit their obvious agendas. If you're not weak, you don't wear it and they back down because negative publicity is agenda item 1. You think they're inconsistent because you reckon we've been dealt with more harshly than others over the journey. We haven't, it's us and it was never a problem under Sanders et al. It became a problem under Trigg/Chappy.
This is basically right I think

Amazing how thoroughly this has been swept under the rug relative to campgate
I was thinking about that this week as well. Just feels like they've made their calls internally and its going to essentially amount to nothing but a slap on the wrist and a club pledge to "do better".

Probably just waiting for a different team to have a scandle, then try and sneak out the "Nothing to see here" press release.

Didn't Gil want this wrapped up before last year?

When the going gets tough, the AFL prefer to stay silent & hope everyone forgets...

It's stunning.

Considering how much milage they got out of the camp - which largely amounted to some very minor incidents - this is now just being ignored.

The complainants have all shut up rather than engage in an actual investigation. Can’t go around forcing people out of the game based upon nothing more than untested allegations. Especially combative people like Clarko and Fagan.

Yeh, nah. All that’s happened is what many posters suggested was a potential version of events. It’s come to likely be the case. An over-cooked report that couldn’t withstand test by way of genuine legal process. The complainants backed down and the AFL has nowhere to go because they have no grounds to punish anyone over nothing more than baseless accusations in a report authored by a potential fraudster.

Without the complainants backing up their stories and being tested, it’s over. Dad for those that frothed and frothed and demanded sackings, but ce la vie.

Absolute clear contrast from the way the AFL media was allowed to hound at us perpetually with frequent allegations with basically an attack of our entire staff/management. Then with this specific Clarko allegation, the AFL media is giving it a more respectful journalistic approach.

This is surely a bigger story than a camp event, where the heck is McNure with his award-winning “investigative” articles?!

hold on, the media were allowed to attack the accused in exactly the same manner. And it was the AFL investigation itself thst cleared us and you rejoiced. So what again is the "clear contrast"?

The AFL had nothing to lose with us and didn't care. In this case they can't afford to lose Clarkson and Fagan so have probably told the media to back off.

Mate, the AFL is probably trying to figure out ways to give Hawthorn draft picks this year. I don't think they have any plan on punishing the Hawks
Punished for what exactly?

Nothing has been proven that I'm aware of at this point.

Think there's going to be a lot of disappointed folk at what the final outcome will likely be without the claims being proven in a court of law.

Fair call. Punished is probably the wrong word.

I just don't think the AFL media, and AFL in general have any intention of continuing a smear campaign against the Hawks reputation. Particularly given their current spot in the competition. Feel like considering how intense and serious the allegations were when it all started, it will all go away with almost no media coverage.

That's the crux of it though...unproven allegations at this point

All allegation are unproven to start with. Claims about our camp were unproven in the first instance too, and largely disputed by those in charge. The point is, the investigation itself has been seemingly swept under the rug entirely. Barely even mentioned, as opposed to wall-to-wall coverage around the camp. And what was alleged is clearly an order of magnitude worse than anything that happened at the camp.

True, but unless im mistake it's also an ongoing investigation right?

So they've always been unproven allegations, and until they publicly conclude it, they will remain no more proven or disproven then when the allegations were originally made.

How is it swept under the rug when the investigation is ongoing, only yesterday there were articles across the whole Newscorp network...

This is starting to feel like the "blackest day in sport" saga from a few years ago that ended up being little more than a lame attempt by certain politicians to boost their profile.

Bit like the Man City scandal of a few weeks ago wherr they were going to be demoted, stripped of titles, points .. crickets.
