How long does Adam Simpsons have left?

I believe this will be the 3rd real rebuild in the club’s history…and will be the longest.

Yep.

The argue for letting Simpson go at the end of the season is he will won't be around for their next serious challenge for the flag, which is at least somewhere between 5 - 10 years away.

They almost literally have to start from scratch.

It's going to get worse before it gets better for the Eagles

5-10 years away? You're having a laugh. Will be back in finals 2-3 years after rebuild begins

Since 2018 West Coast have:

  • Missed the top 4 in 2019 and knocked out by Geelong in a semifinal.
  • Missed the top 4 in 2020 and knocked out by Collingwood in an elimination final.
  • Missed the 8 in 2021, going 2-7 after the bye.
  • Bottom 4 so far in 2022
How long does Simpson have to turn the ship around before West Coast look for another head coach?
That you Pav? It's ok Ross nearly won a flag, and you are the Freo games record holder...that's about it.

Simpson should see the beginning of the rebuild.

The Rebuild should be as follows and starts immediately.

Retirements: Hurn, Shuey, Cripps and JK.

Traded: If they trade the following they could get decent draft picks. Yeo, McGovern, Darling (3rd rounder maybe), Ryan (down hill skier not required during a rebuild), Gaff and Sheed.

Delistings: Can’t be bothered listing them all…Nelson, B Williams, Langdon etc

Conclusion: Get what you can for aging stars, build a backline around Barras, Build a fwd line around Allen, draft in talented Midfielders and most importantly draft in a highly touted ruckman (don’t sell the farm for English)

Kelly, Jones and Duggan must be the ones that pave the way for the youngsters coming in and basically cop the beatings while they mature.

If you look back in Eagles history they have only languished bottom 4 between 00,01 and 08 to 10. This will be a little longer but they must get to work possibly with mid season retirements.
A 3rd rounder for Jack Darling?
Regularly kicks 40 plus goals a year.
Has missed a lot of pre-season due to his covid stance.

That would be an incredibly powerful achievement.

But this time it is ground zero. The only real talent coming through is Barrass, Allen and maybe Chesser.
Emotions still running high with a lot of knee jerk reactions.

Will still have a decent spine with Barrass, McGovern Darling and Oscar Allen.
Rioli and Ryan in the forward line plus Yeo and Kelly in the midfield.

We need a bit of a clean out, should target Tim English but let's not carried away.

Nah, it’s looking very bleak.

I can’t even see which players steer the ship over the next few years given how many will need to retire and how many average players sit in their middle band.

Also a lot of bad contracts on their books.

Patrick Naish is likely leading the Eagles BnF at this stage. It’s going to be hell.

He's led a clean and healthy lifestyle. His skin looks good, I reckon his diet must be okay. Assuming his parents have good longevity, and a working class lad from a broken home doesn't shiv him one night when his guard is down and he strays outside his leafy suburb, he should expect another 40 years minimum I reckon.

McGovern, Darling, Yeo in three years? Kelly is a handy third mid.

Only because of the silver service and Jk taking the best.
Neither will happen from here on out for the rest of his career.

Uncle Trev has lost the plot and has created this giant cliff for the club.

Bunch of front runners with aging stars who still think they can be at the pointy end in 2022 at seasons end according to shuey on 720…..the ****?

Don’t know what to make of the Eagles they’re clearly no good but a big part of that is from the coaching in particular the midfield. They’ve got a good group of names who run through but together it’s like a pack of individuals. Individualists can only take you so far - look at Ablett, Danger and Selwood. Lost the 2020 flag. Probably never going to see more star power off names in one midfield than those 3 but there’s been far better trios ie Cousins, Kerr and Judd or the guys at Brisbane in the early 2000s.

Shuey, Kelly, Yeo and NN who all go in the middle would be the only players above 27 at WC I wouldn’t offer up as trade bait. Even then none of them will be there for the next flag. Should let Kennedy kick his 700th and never field him again so they can kickstart the rebuild quicker.

It doesn't matter why.
He kicks 40 plus most years.

If he went to Freo he'd be your best forward and you reckon he's worth a 3rd rounder.
Really?
Simple simple poster you are. You literally don’t understand what make a good fwd. Darling a decent finisher…awful at the rest.

Whilst this is true they did luck out somewhat with Judd falling to them in 2001 draft as he made a significant instant impact. Then when he left and they were rubbish for a couple of years they still got Masten (handy whilst not worth the pick 3), Kennedy & Scott Selwood I think who won a B&F. Add that to Melbourne taking Watts over NicNat and it shows a little luck can go a long way.

Mate

You club hasn't had a good forward since Pav.

So Darling kicks 40 a year and he's a finisher?

How's Lobb working out for you :D
Mate I’d love nothing more you keep darling. Keep kicking it to him with your current midfield and with a retired JK. Entertainment for all of us.

I think West Coast's big problem is a failure to realise where they are at. A rebuild is necessary but I get the feeling it wasn't until fairly recently that West Coast realised that. In hindsight going after Kelly was a mistake as he cost way too much. Should have invested in the draft.

Yep, they simply miss judged where their list was positioned. A lot in the off season called for a rebuild. The powers who be decided to go with very little change.
