Isn't it amazing that we got shit for announcing before trade week the players who wouldn't be getting another contract. People who refer to themselves by grandiose titles like The List Manager (and the Barrett version - Licker of The List Manager's Arse) criticised us for playing our hand too early and not getting something for our delistees in trade week.

The majority of delistings now finalised stayed on lists during trade week and have been cut now as no other team was interested. In the vast majority of cases, surely that was obvious weeks ago. At least we were honest in our assessment, unlike most others. And yet we're the ones most criticised.

Alex Morgan not delisted?

When is the final list lodgement date? We still haven't been told officially about Thomas + Swallow.
If we are taking 4-5 in the ND and are picking up Morgan as a delisted FA then one or both will be delisted in the next week or 2. Not sure when the next list lodgement is though.

Dont know where else to ask.

Apparently we're looking at picking up Aaron Mullett as a DFA. Vaguely recall him looking OK a few years back.

Whats he like? Biggest knock/ reason he was let go?

Good kick, resonable running ability. Played half back flank

In short doesn't quite get enough of the ball for an attacking back flank, not defensive enough to be a defensive half back.

Is useful, just not really part of the future I guess.

Thats how I remembered him as well. Bit of toe about him, and takes the game on, and a decent left boot.

Hopefully Docherty and Simpson take him under their wings. Cant ask for better teachers for the HBF role than those two.

If he accumulated the ball like those guys he'd still be at north. :D

Good kick but bad decision making making his kicking look average. Can kick a long goal.

We're looking for a bit of outside speed and counterattack.

We were so dour in defence this year, it put Ross Lyon to sleep.

He is pretty poor defensively. Even an attacking half back needs to have a decent defensive side. It's not through lack of effort or fitness. He just seems to get worked off the ball easily or get out of position.
He did have his best year this year though since he came 3rd in the rising star a few years back. A few years back he had a shoulder injury and just never got back to his best form. Offensively he was pretty good this year. If I was taking him on I would be moving him up to a wing.
I am still bewildered you guys let tuohy go. You should have paid a bit more to keep him imo, especially when part of your trade has already been delisted.

Letting Touhy go netted us a 1st round pick that we used on Marchbank and Pickett.

We have a Touhy replacement in Byrne (and Simpson and Docherty).

It was a tough call, but one we needed to make in respect of the rebuild.

Wish we didn't include Smedts in the deal. He was a waste. A future 3rd would have been better.

Im hearing 'poor mans Touhy'.
He was in the top 5 for rebounds this year and averaged around the 20 mark in an average team and a defence gutted by injury. He uses the all well, has decent leg speed, has bulked up for one on one contested stuff, can kick a long goal and works hard.

His weaknesses are that his decision making isn't the best under pressure and defensively, he can really struggle one on one and he occasionally lacks footy smarts.

You gave Geelong a 2nd round pick as well. With smedts already gone and Carlton finishing down the bottom, you basically gave tuohy away for a marginal pick upgrade.

Yeah I agree it wasnt the greatest deal, or handled the best.

My understanding was that GWS wanted a 1st round pick for Marchbank and Pickett.

Touhy was leaving anyway (he accepted a better offer from Geelong) and being uncontracted we had little wriggle room. Geelong offered a 1st future round pick [and Smedts] for Touhy and our future 2nd. It gave us the currency that GWS wanted for Marchbank and Pickett. Smedts was a free hit of sorts.

I would have preferred to hand over a third and let them keep Smedts. They guy was talented, but lazy.
