Nah. I think there may actually be something to this particular rumour. I think Fev is coming to Sydney.
BE READY.....all Swans supporters!
Should we pick up Fev with pick 14 (should Jolly get traded), be ready to lose another favourite player along with that pick.
The precedent is being set by the Hawks, pick 9 & Brown for a 25 YO (& injured) Burgoyne!
Holy cow!
The only feeling I've got with this whole Fevola thing is not a 'funny' one, but a fear that we may unsettle things at our club.
Could ROK be used to get Fev here?
Sh.t I hope not.
Welcome Kerrsive
Yes. Me too.
Why should Swans fix Carltons problems and lose quality & young futures for an aging damaged goods nutter, who always seems to want to be the centre of attention!?
If Carlton are NOT bluffing?...then Fev has done something seriously wrong behind the scenes!
My thoughts for the day.
Jesse White blossomed when given a KP role with responsibility... would Fevalenko stiffle that progress?
Goodes will need to spend more time forward as he gets older... I would prefer to see him kicking bags of goals like that 8 v Freo (albeit without the stuffed groin!)...and insist young midfielders step up
Johnston was considered one of the best CHF prospects in last yrs draft.Roosey gave Hanners a run early, so if Johnston works hard he should get his chance in 2010.
The stoppage low scoring game plan does not suit a main "go to" forward.
Carlton have always been predictable with Fev
Last uncompromised draft for years! Swans must invest for future & take our early high first rounders from DRAFT! Hopefully our picks wont be high rounders anyway in future
...I just cannot see how Fevalenko, could even be considered by SYDNEY!
NO ONE ELSE WANTS NOR CAN AFFORD HIM!..says a lot!
I'd drive down to the SCG right now and throw rocks at the window if they traded pick 14 AND O'Keefe for Fev.
Luckily they won't, because they're not that stupid.
CARLTON is still where it started with sourcing a trade for full-forward Brendan Fevola, who has two years remaining on his contract.
General manager of football operations Steven Icke confirmed on Wednesday morning that a deal to move the 2009 Coleman Medallist on was no closer.
Screw working out any 3 or 4 way deals at the moment. We should just concentrate on Jolly to Collingwood with a view to 14 and a decent youngster. Once that's out of the way then Carlton have even less bargaining power. We're free to keep doing deals for players like Mumford or Kennedy and Carlton can either accept 14 or not... no loss to us.

so happy and relieved ...
for now anyway
It all comes back to the age old problem that we have faced since moving to Sydney!
The 'bums on seats' factor.
It started with Edelston & Capper! Then Barassi was brought in to spark up the Sydney media. Then along came Plugger. Then came Bazza.
Now along comes the perfect opportunity for Colless (not Roos) to make a stand & get bums on seats again. It was the whole reason that Plugger made a come back & was the beginning of the end for Rocket because he didn't want to know about Plugger anymore.
Colless will have a big say in this as our crowds have dropped considerably in Sydney!
Fev will add another 10,000 bums on seat per week on average.
It's something that I can't stand about us but I can just see it happening again.
This is going to be as cheap as Fev will get but he will still cost us pick 14 & a player!
Pick 14 alone would be a great win for us but not with a player!
Fevola is worth 10,000 bums on seats?
Our average crowd this season was still over 30,000 (30,506 to be exact).
Our two peaks were in 1997 and 2007 (kind of unsurprising, given we were coming off Grand Finals in both years) when in the home and away season we averaged around 35,000-36,000.
If you look at our post-Hall attendances, when we basically were out of finals contention realistically for the whole time, other than 22,000 against North, our home maches were all at least 27,000. The average for post-Hall home matches was 29,770. Without the North match the average is 31,700.
So..
Is Fevola by himself going to increase our crowds from current levels (which have factored in the loss of the key forward star and being out of the finals) to around 5,000 per game higher than our highest peaks in the last two decades? Because you are telling me that Fevola is worth 10,000 people on top of our crowds, and our crowds are only 5,000 below the peaks.
Sorry, I simply don't believe it.
I think Sydney's AFL culture has improved a lot since the 1990s. I think the city showed great support to the team even when it was clear we were going to miss out on finals football this season, even when the star player was gon
Very sneaky that Kennett (ex-pollie I hear!). He said Hawthorn didn't offer Campbell but of course didn't say whether Port enquired about him.Kennett apparently has denied the Campbell Brown trade "true story" offer ....says it is all BS!
Remember Carlton are likely desperate.... so they will be leaking "true storys" trying to start the "auction"
I agree with MalFan..... well said!
However Roos laughed when asked early on Wednesday afternoon if there was any truth to the rumour.
“We’re not even interested in Fevola. I keep saying it but no one believes me. We’ve got nothing to trade for him so we haven’t been involved at all,” he said.
We don't need him.
