Maybe he meant the crows would not part with a future 1st for Rankine, but he thinks just a future 2nd will get the deal over the line. So we keep pick 5 this year AND our 2023 1st and just pay a future 2nd for Rankine. Where do we sign

He has been surprisingly comsistent with this one and been saying all along pick 5 and a future second. Says there in no point in haggling over future picks and we should just get the deal done. Then in 12 months time he will be criticising us for not having the draft capital to get done what we need to.

My theory is that GC need pick 5 so that they can trade it away to another club so that either the Freo (Jackson), Port (JHF) or Brisbane (Dunkley) trades can get across the line.

If they use pick 5 themselves they risk drafting a decent player who they will need to overpay to keep, or trade them away with a draft pick to help them with their salary cap.

By gifting other clubs their high draft picks, or trading for medicocre spuds, they can stay within the salary cap and make lots of friends.

These absolute peanuts seem intent on making the stronger clubs better. The hold up with the Rankine trade is probably because Geelong don't have any currency to make the Henry trade happen, and they are busy working on how they can help the cats get it across the line.

Once the Henry trade drops I think the Rankine trade will happen. You know it makes sense.

I’d give up pick 5 for Rankine. Picks are overrated
I feel it is a bit high (wished we'd finish higher up the table and had pick 8 to 12 or around that mark). But I'm not against giving up 5 for Rankine as some on BF feel it is gross overs. You are getting a known quantity with pick 5 you can't guarantee that with a kid. I don't think there is much doubt he is the most exciting player in the comp and has star factor written all over him.

He should be the best my exciting small forward in the comp for a decade. He is going to be elite, and he can win a game or turn a game and as he builds his tank, he can pinch hit in the midfield and hurt. I realise as a small forward it can be feast or famine. If we kept 5 that would become 6 and you can't guarantee who you're getting. Our last pick 6 was Fish. I known quantity bring it on and watch him light it up.

Now as a club let's build a midfield that can get it down there.

The Crows were expected to give up pick 5, a future third and a 2023 fourth-rounder in exchange for Rankine and either pick 45 or 46 and a future fourth-rounder.

Surely GC and the CROWS are not arguing over which 2023 x 3rd pick ......the Crows or Collingwood's (Frampton)
