  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

It's so embarrassing. 5 years into a coach, a spoon and no finals and they're only now realising he's in over his head.
What have Silvers and Kelly been doing for the last 5 years.
It's amazing that even supporters can see the train wreck happening but no one at the club can

It doesn't give you any faith that they can identify the problems and then have a solution

It’s a carbon copy of the Pyke, Burton, Fagan era.

Supporters know what’s wrong but takes an external review to flesh out the issues.

Nothing will change here while Silvers, Kelly and co. are trying to save their jobs.

They need to change the "We fly as one" motto to "We're the comfortable Crows".

Take mighty out of the Crows song and replace it with comfortable.

They're comfortable having a large membership base.

Did they talk about or release last weeks crowd?

Announce an in-house mid-year review but don't release any outcomes, except Nicks is the man for the job, he's a great coach. Mr 35%.

Young players too often only get an opportunity when senior players are injured, but look great when they come in.

We are comfortable being comfortable.

We need to develop a ruthless, hard edge.

Kelly has zero relevant experience for his role. Total waste of space.

2. If they do replace Burns, it will be someone with the aim to secure a head coaching job very soon. That's got to be very bad news for Nicks if we repeat the start to this season again, as there will be even bigger calls for him to be sacked ASAP.
This is a good point. It would be pretty obvious to most in the AFL world that Nicks is likely to be sacked next year at some stage if we look like missing finals again. I would think there would be a few coaches out there that would be happy to come on board as a senior assistant and be ready in waiting to take over as a caretaker should he get the boot.

Clayton's review given he said Nix was safe before the review started.

Just pretending they are doing something, when really have no intention of making significant change needed.

It was an all-things-except-the-Coach Review.

Anybody else notice what a real/good Coach can do/say?
(Essendon 2022/15th, 2023/11th, 2024/4th so far, Brad Scott).

And wouldn't we just love to have heard this from Nicks after our 0-4 start:
""We sit there and give ourselves enough opportunities but we just don't play our moments and it's my job as a coach to sit there and demand better.
I'm angry to be fair and as a footy club we've got to grow the f--k up to be perfectly honest, excuse the language.
We've been in this situation too many times so it's up to me and the match committee to get our boys going.
" (Hardwick, after GCS lost to NM yesterday)?

At the time, Nicks said he felt "incredible frustration". I'd rather he was angry personally, but his frustration was more likely from 0-4 making his new game plan look shitty, which it was.
He added "... we’ve got to be able to build our confidence back to where we know it can be, we’ve got to look at our team from a selection point of view and get guys in the way that are going to be able to play the way we play".
Yes, Matthew, it was about your selections and your slow, defensive, chip-chip 2024 Crows.
They were playing how you wanted and it did not work. It's on you, mate.

Making Taylor sub again whilst Murphy gets to add nothing all game 🥴 sack Nicks!

Nicks is thinking of next week so if Zac only gets one quarter of game time he has to send Zac back to SANFL and he can then promote one of his gold pass boys. Nothing surer.

The upper level of this footy club always gives the impression of being ‘comfortable’. Does anyone ever get angry or even mildly annoyed? Happy clapping starts with the board. And one lousy weekend result is quickly pushed sideways in preparation for the executive culture club enjoyment of the next game. We are a characterless club.

Leave this useless Prick in Brisbane.

Why select Murphy, Smith and Laird? They are not the future Mathew.

Zac, 2 quarters of football in his career has shown he will have a future, the lad should have at least a dozen FULL games under his belt by now.

Nicks cannot identify talent, shocking trait for any coach let alone one that is/was meant to be rebuilding.

Oh haven’t your heard?……

Matthew Nicks will continue as Adelaide’s Senior Coach until at least the end of 2026 after agreeing to a two-year contract extension.

Having rebuilt the playing list while improving the team’s winning record in each of his four seasons at West Lakes, Nicks will remain at the helm as the Crows push to return to finals.

Crows CEO Tim Silvers said the contract extension reinforced the Club’s belief that Nicks was a long-term coach and the right person to see the rebuild through.

“The way in which Nicksy has led our Club through some challenging times early in his tenure and our subsequent climb up the ladder, albeit acknowledging we have much more to do and achieve, should not be underestimated,” Silvers said.

In five years in charge, Mr 35% Matthew Nicks has a better than 50% win rate against

West Coast 62%
Carlton 80%
North Melbourne 85%

Yeah no...Nicks couldn't tie Hinkleys shoelaces. At least Hinkley can get his team to play finals consistently.
Nicks surely has one of the worst coaching records in AFL history for total games coached?
Nicks is on 99 games with a winning percentage of 34.3%. The coach with the worst winning % with over 100 games is Dew with 30.17%. He'll either be 8th or 3rd worst next week depending on whether we win or lose/draw.
