Bit different though, didn't he come from the essendon rookie list, the crows offered him a primary list, so of course he was going to take it? If not he wasn't on the rookie list he certainly wasn't getting a game.
From memory he did have a few clubs that were after him though. I don't think it was a case of we were the only ones who offered him a senior spot.

Is there a legit reason Neale's name keeps bobbing up around here?

Not really. But,
  • He's out of contract,
  • We need a class midfielder after losing Paddy and Thommo being 33 and Dougie 29,
  • We have Paddy cash to spend,
  • Freo will need trade currency to pick up McCarthy and Hogan with Pav retiring,
  • Lyon extending his contract with Freo for 5 years says he knows something about who is coming in otherwise he'd be outta there,
  • The stars are kind of aligning.

Good signing. We're probably a year away from really knowing if he's an AFL standard player, and it's better to have the option to extend him now rather than having to overreach in six month's time for fear of losing someone just as they might come good. Also lets him approach the year without the threat of delisting looming over him.

Congrats to McGovern. Reports are he's had an excellent preseason. 4 goals in the trial isn't too shabby either.

Heard from 2 different sources back in WA that he would be a Crow in 2017. This was late in the season last year

Of course he didn't say that. Check who posted it.

Poor quality disproof, but then again "check who posted it"

From http://www.footywire.com/afl/club/player-biography/3547.html
Adelaide player Josh Jenkins says most Crows players are disappointed with the way Kurt Tippett has left the club.
"I couldn't imagine spending several years at the one club, only to leave and burn almost all the bridges that had been built over the years," Jenkins wrote in a column for the Adelaide Advertiser.
"I am not saying Kurt no longer has friends or positive relationships at the Crows. But most from West Lakes would have some right to be disappointed in his actions."

Fair enough. That doesn't look good for me.

I was wrong. Sorry :thumbsu:

A first round pick for Neale seems fair - pardon the intrusion

Maybe a swap of 3rd round picks if Freo really drag their feet

Pick 12ish for Neale is about market value I'd have thought
Before we can even consider being back jn the hunt we need 3 A-Grade midfielders. If they are not currently on our list (Crouch brothers) Neale would be a great start.

Not a Brodie Snith fan Wayne? Why does that not surprise me.
Of course iam a Brodie Smith fan ....but he re-signing was inevitable, so not as excited as seeing McGovern sign

BTW didn't know we had a Snith on our list :p

Wonder if Freo might take him as part payment for Neale.
Upping his value with an extension.

Reckon I would prefer to keep our 1st rounder & McGovern.

Too steep, unless neale goes up another level.
He was in last years AA squad, so he's considered in the best dozen or so mids in the game. He av 27 poss per game. We don't have any mids at that level.

How many more levels do you need?
