McLeod doesn't feel like past players are welcome at the Crows

To be fair, does the club do their best to make you feel welcome ?

I don't think they do, and I'm not even an employee. I have no doubt he enjoys the work that he does with the indigenous programs and the AFLW, but do his employers make him feel welcome...

Clearly not.
I pay for a membership which allows me access to games, I don’t think they owe me anything else. I’ve been on one of the Crows overseas trips with Mods and Cavo, and they both still love the club.

This just smacks of a headline grab for his podcast that nobody had heard of before today.

I have had the opposite told to me from past players. No tickets to games, they are treated like the public. Often kids aren't included in things, its just the player only.
Premiership players who also don't feel welcomed. Only when the cameras are on.

Also apparently the premiership reunions have turned to shit.
Why should they be given free tickets to games, unless they’re in a formal role with the club? That seems like entitlement to me.

The members of this club pay very good money to attend games, I don’t see why an ex player who has no association with the club anymore is entitled to any special privileges outside of the odd official function for a premiership etc.

Catch 22

How are they meant to have an association with a club that has no premises?

Whats wrong with a few tickets providing they glad hand the fans?

I don’t get what association they need outside of major functions if they don’t actually work for the club? This isn’t a local footy club, it’s a professional sporting organization.

Do you read what you post?

Thought it was interesting that On 5AA, Bickley said that the club puts 2 players and a coach into the Margarey room after the game.

I would have thought that you would have as many players as possible into the public space post game.

I do believe that the lack of a club rooms lends itself to a fundamental disconnect between members, players and past players as there’s no shared space or even history on display. Norwood lost this when the Woods St club rooms were knocked down and struggled to regain the connection for years.

You would think a professional sporting club would understand the connection of players and fans

Did you also not read '' give them a few tickets ''providing they glad hand some fans''

Is that not working?

I

ive had a ball. Thanks guys.
ps, if u wver want to FEEL part of a real club, head on down for a beer and a laugh... our past players come there because they love it... so do we

Which club?

The one you broke from?
The one you rejoined to survive?
The one you stole everything from?
The one that disappeared this year?

Imagine, your club dies on its 150th anniversary. And in a completely anonymous way. Almost like no one cared about it anymore anyway.

Your postings aren't even attempts at trolling, that would give them too much credit. Also it's a school night.

The thing is, McLeod has done the pre match bunker thing with Mods over recent years, isn’t this exactly what you’re talking about? That’s about as gravy train as it gets for an ex player. Guys like Robran and Cavo do pre match functions as well.

The players hate the post game stuff, has nothing to do with the clubs. Players mingling with supporters for the love of the club went out the door when the AFL turned into a billion dollar business.

Care to respond to what I actually posted instead of getting personal?
If you think this is personal you wouldnt have liked what I deleted then

You said they shouldnt get free tickets unless they are in a formal role. You then complained that they had no association with the club anyway

How are they meant to get that association with the club if they dont feel wanted. That you think 340 games with a club diesnt deserve free tickets says more about you than it does McLeod

So every player now not working at the club isnt welcome at the club? Because thats what you are saying. You are saying they are dirt on a carpet.

And you wonder why that Port flog came in

I’m sure this will be another easy one for posters to bag to the club, but as I posted late last year they’re very good with including families of current players and get very positive feedback.

This seems linked to losing his jobs at the club recently due to budget cuts as he has never mentioned this in public before now.

Oh Baccsy

Oh Baccsy,

you know those players were paid to be there, amongst crows loving fans? They were hardly going to be arch critics were they

I’m sorry to break it to you, but the Easter Bunny isn’t real either

They shouldn’t be getting any perks from the club unless they’re contributing to things like the pre match functions, the Crows don’t need McLeod promoting the club to get people to games.

What if it was say Andrew Eccles saying this? I don’t get why ex players feel like they are owed anything once they finish playing. I’m sure McLeod has been afforded many nice luxuries and perks with the club since retiring anyway, which is why this whole debate seems stupid but here we are... You’re seriously telling me the club kicked him to the curb as soon as he stopped playing? Spare me.

Who says he’s being treated like dirt? His comment was as general as it gets, just enough to get a headline and people like us debating it.

oh Baccsy, Baccsy, Baccsy,

dear, sweet, naive, innocent Baccsy, bless. The world is a scary place, it’s a bit different to your story books I’m afraid. Sometimes Cinderella doesn’t get the prince

Andrew McLeod built this club. He and Malcolm Blight are the 2 handsome princes, to whom the lucky villagers can never repay their debt of gratitude.

he built this club, he is our history. I don’t care if he wants to sit on a special throne in the centre square. Just build him the dammed throne

oh and go to bed without any tea. You can stay in your room until you learn some manners!

did you just compare Andrew Eccles with Andrew FREAKIN’ McLeod?

Christ on a bike. No wonder people say we’re not a real club 🤷‍♀️
