O
Interesting article but the one thing contend is that whilst he gets heaps of articles in the West, he'd have 2 papers In Melbourne constantly banging on about him, as well as multiple radio and TV shows.

The Vic media will barely talk about him, now that he's in WA.

WEST COAST EAGLES

State of play: Rohan O’Brien’s departure as list manager means there’s a vacancy at the Eagles. For some, this is one of the most attractive gigs in footy, for you’d be joining one of the AFL’s biggest clubs and have a pretty fresh slate to work with, considering it’s essentially year one of the Eagles’ rebuild after a horror 2023 campaign. The retirements of Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey and Nic Naitanui, followed by six delistings, opened up more list and cap space for the Eagles to rebuild through the draft. Yet there’s still ample work to do … including a likely play for Dogs ruck Tim English.

Biggest free agency priorities:Liam Duggan enters 2024 not only as West Coast’s co-captain, but also a free agent at season’s end. Although the expectation, at this stage, is Duggan will remain with the Eagles. It’s also a contract year for both Andrew Gaff and Elliot Yeo this year. Both players were thrown up as trade bait by commentators in the wake of the club’s 2023 on-field horror show, but remained on the list for 2024. Both players, who’ve won All-Australian and best and fairest honours, would arguably give rival clubs value and, possibly, decent free agency compensation for the Eagles. But there’s a lot to play out for them still.

Biggest contract priorities: The main watch for 2024 is Bailey Williams, who’ll have his first year officially as West Coast’s No. 1 ruck after Naitanui’s retirement — although he was the go-to man last year when the superstar was injured. The Eagles acquired Matt Flynn from the Giants during the trade period, but Williams is seen as the main man going forward — outside of Tim English that is — and, therefore, should be offered a new deal at some stage during the year. But probably the biggest contract goal for the Eagles this year would be to secure Oscar Allen before he hits free agency in 2025. The fact Allen booted 53 goals in a side many considered to be one of the worst of the modern era was a monumental feat — and underscored why he is a player that will have clubs bending over backwards to accommodate. The good news is he is a West Australian and looks determined to be a part of the side’s next premiership build.

I’ve bolded the three bits that show whoever wrote this has no idea of what’s going on at West Coast

1) It’s ridiculous to suggest that this is year one of the rebuild. We’ve been transitioning the list since the 2021 draft. It’s why we go into this season with half our squad under the age of 22

2) It’s possible Yeo might have some value to other clubs as a FA target but laughable to say the same about Gaff who almost certainly is in his last year as an AFL player. He won’t be chased by other clubs

3) The club, and Williams himself, have made no secret of the fact they consider Flynn to be the No.1 ruck with Williams reverting to a forward/ruck. It’s ignorant not to have picked up on this with even a modicum of research

That is woefully bad, even for Fox
Almost makes the West look like a serious journalistic endeavour. Keys and Larrikin and Farang (and me) and virtually everyone else clearly know more about AFL and the WCE than this clown.

About the only bit they got right was the desire to extend Oscar Allen ASAP.

But Gaff being offered a gig that would get decent FA compo? If you buy that I've got a bridge linking North Sydney to the CBD I'd like you make an offer on.
With his injury history Yeo would be a huge risk but if someone reckons they could get him right there may be an option there. But it wouldn't be much and wouldn't be long term and therefore wouldn't be a FA bonanza.

And English? And where Williams sits with Flynn?

Are the other club reports this bad or is it a 'writing from Melbourne about the other side of the country' situation?

He’s right, but is Kane the best person to be calling out media obsession?

It's embarrassing for the West but I think the club itself has done a great job of lessening the attention off of him in their own media pieces.

Imagine if he was in Melbourne?

It's funny because it' posted on the SEN Twitter account.

The same SEN which obsessed over him the entire year and said he definitely didn't want to leave Vic, despite Reid himself denying this numerous times.

Self-awareness not a thing for Victorian media outlets, it seems.

This posts sounds like it’s a defence of the West?!?
