Traded Mitch McGovern [traded to Carlton in a three-way trade involving Sydney and McAdam]

Cmon, please read the posts ....the previous offer was from Fremantle, not Carlton .....yes Carlton wanted McGovern as part of last years Gibbs deal, but it was rejected & a Contract offer never tabled ....what Bearded Clam is referring to is this years Carlton reported offer

We might be offering the "best" contract out of all the suitors, but why is he leaving? Why did he ask for a trade? Freos money is worth just as much as ours and its distinctly within the realms of possibility that our offer isnt as much as Freos. So what gives? Whys he wanting out less than 12 months from signing with you guys? Money isnt a factor for leaving, only for finding the best suitor.

I'll say once more, because you seem to have comprehension issues ......top 20 as good as any, does not mean better than any

My comments re the top 8, doesn't come from Sheehan, Goofy .....it's an accumulation of opinions from an array of knowledegable watchers, whose opinion I value
I got the fact that he didn't say it was going to be the best ever top twenty the first time I read the article funnily enough. Probably why I never posted that Sheehan was saying it would be the best ever tp 2o, but instead compared the draft to the quality of how the 2017 was previewed by experts who certainly didn't refer to that draft as a super draft. The obvious point I was making was that pick 12 would have more value in the 2018 draft than the same pick in 2017 if the talent pool is as Sheehan describes (or Twomey, or BF's Knightmare or Chris25 who have stated similar views). Ill take Sheehan's views, a man who's job has been to identify and communicate the overall quality of drafts for over a decade over your made up moronic dribble thanks.

Money is a factor, but only a factor not the factor. He is going to be paid more by Carlton, so there is no point trying to pretend otherwise or that this isn't a factor.

However, opportunity is also another important factor. Gov wants to play a bigger role than 3rd forward behind Tex & JJ, which is fair enough as showed he is up to it when Tex has been out. Teague has helped with this.

Also, supporting his girlfriend who needs to move for her studies.

Further, Gov wasn't happy with how his injuries were handled... including he thought he could play in the Grand Final last year.

All these add up to him wanting to break his contract.

Hes not going to be rated internally higher than Curnow or McKay. He'll get opportunity for sure. Until Kerr comes on. I dont think SOS wouldve sold to him that he'd be the number one guy because that would be very disingenuous and would leave Mitch disgruntled right from the get go. Though I accept your reasoning that Mitch could believe he would be the go to guy for us if only for a small window.

The injury stuff is well documented and I agree that it was a factor in him requesting to leave.

Cant agree on the money being a factor. We might have the best figure and years going around, but he had already rejected a large contract at the same time as signing with AFC.

The Gov is coming to the blues for 3 reasons.
1. $$$ and a longer contract
2. Teague
3. Curnow and co.

Obviously Casbolt went backward and curnow needs support. This will allow McKay and tdk to develop.

I'm not sure anyone really knows .....Kane Cornes says definitely money, and he's a Crow hater, so he's going to blame us at any chance .....but there's been 6-7 reasons given, but they keep getting rotated by both his Manager & Media

1. Why did Young specifically say he was good mates with Teague ....was there a fallout with new Coach Francou, whose also left

2. We know McGovern came back to PS out of shape ....and was rebuked for it by the club

3. There's the girlfriend signing up to study in Vic ....I think you can dismiss that one

4. There's thoughts he was unhappy with his role in the team

And so on ......a lot of smoke screens to disguise the real reason & provide diversionary opinions on Mitch's real reason

No, not this .....Crows are closer to a flag than Carlton ....if he wanted Finals participation he'd stay at the Crows ....the fact this is not a huge consideration leads you to speculate it has to be $$$$

Otherwise he could have chosen Hawthorn or Sydney ...

You don't know that for a fact.

Jacobs, Betts, Walker, Gibbs, Jenkins, Sloane all a lot closer to the end than the beginning.
The ups and downs can come along pretty quickly.

Miss a year here and a year there and time may have forgotten you.

Take a poll ....see what the outcome is

Or perhaps more correctly there is a toxic culture at crowtown and he wants out.

So toxic 17 other guys re signed on again this year with the club AFTER the camp, preseason etc etc etc

Yeah um do I really need to list the litany of players that have left your club over the last 5 years. Nah nothing to see here. Your captain was fantastic in the way he handled losing the GF with his speech and the way he handled lever going to Melbourne. Burton and others have been fantastic all year handling the pre season camp issue as well! It's all good nothing happened and we are still working with them. They are not working with us anymore oh wait they still are.

Crows have been a masterclass in how to **** things up over the last couple of years

Cmon champ..explain why 17 players signed on this year after the camp, preseason etc if the culture is so toxic..as all 17 of them debunk your comments with an exclamation mark

The outcome would arrive to an absolute fact? :)

Look at any other thread of the 'Who will win a Premiership first?' thread on the main board and do the math.

We arrive to one simple conclusion; We just don't know.
True ....but there's some historical data to draw upon, such as financial position, development structures, coach ...and a rough calculation of list strength

Like those who were calling for a Carlton PP ....never going to happen, because your list structure is much better than your ladder position .....if you're not around 12th next year, Bolton goes, with that list

Not every individual is affected by the culture within an organisation and there are a multitude of reasons why someone would choose to remain at a club outside of cultural things related to the club. Unfortunately for you and your argument the two things are not mutually exclusive. However, if you are happy for things like the camp to happen and two bit Charlatan's selling magic potions like collective minds to work at your club and players leaving every year then good for you. I just know I would be furious if it was my club and instead of defending my club to everyone would want questions being asked and answered and changes made.

who says we are not asking hard questions, however since that period of time, 17 players who all were part of the preseason have decided to extend their contracts. Now you don't play there and I suspect have absolutely no involvement with the club whatsoever so who are we to believe then about the club's culture..you and some other BF posters that have no connection (or idea) about the crows apart from the contradictory reports in the media or the 17 players that signed contract extensions that are there day to day. Unfortunately in this case (for you), the answer is quite a simple one...the 17 players

Bf foamers that think they can tell a club what they can ask for their contracted player. While you guys froth the crows will just set the terms for the trade and a club will come to the party or they wont. If the crows ask for a 1st and a 2nd with maybe a 3rd going back which is at least his value contracted that is what they will get or he stays and his manager will be totally up to speed with that

I'm not foaming mate, leave that for the thread on your own board. It's just a question of fair compensation for what Mitch has so far achieved on field. He's around the 20 mark, that's not an insult, just a reflection of value.

here are some of the comments that the re signing crows players said about the club

Rory Sloane

“This is a great footy club and I have said many times before how much I respect and love the place and people, particularly the playing group,” Sloane said via the Crows' website.

“There is always a lot to weigh up, especially given Belinda and I are about to start a family, and we have been in constant talks with the club for some time.

“I’m super excited about what the future holds, both from a personal and football perspective.

“We have created a great environment where there is a genuine care for each other and strong desire to achieve the ultimate success.”

Rory Laird

"Adelaide is just a great club to be at and I’m thrilled to be able to keep playing footy here,” Laird said.

"The Crows gave me my first chance at playing AFL when they took me in the rookie draft and it’s nice to be able to repay that faith.

"There’s a really positive environment at the club with all the players and coaches driving each other to get better every day."

Paul Seedsman

“My priority was always to stay in Adelaide and it’s great to get the deal done,” Seedsman said.

“I love it here and the footy club has been fantastic since I arrived, so it’s good to be able to repay their confidence in me.

“Even though it’s been a frustrating year, the culture here couldn’t be better.

“The players and coaches are all committed to getting better and we’ll be back up there next year.”

Shit culture eh..in amongst that lot are an ex All Australian Vice Captain and a current 2 x All Australian

What would you expect a sportsperson in any sport to say after signing a contract? I hate the place but I signed anyway. I can't see how one disgruntled player and some noise about a preseason camp means your culture is bad anyway. Every club has personalities and issues to manage.
