Going over very well trodden ground here...but SOS was very willing to trade Bryce for fair value. One year later Adelaide agreed that price was fair and the deal was done. Not sure how this is doing the wrong thing by Bryce. When I Crow Up said:Having said that I'm critical of SOS for not trading a player with personal issues that he wanted to go home for when the crows had put a reasonable trade on the table and so were Gibbs and his manager.
Gibbs and his manager disagreed with your view. Gibbs' manager Nigel Carmody, of TLA the player management company owned by Kelly, admitted his client was disappointed not to be traded but understood as a contracted player the trade had to be agreed.Going over very well trodden ground here...but SOS was very willing to trade Bryce for fair value. You can only play 18 on the fieldmy personal view is he gets lots of players to the club that are quite average which overall doesn't improve the quality of the team. Losing a bloke like a that stage of his career isn't ideal at all. there is plenty more examples of him just bringing in average players who couldn't get a game at other clubs and that is not getting carlton out of this low period of the football club.
You’ll find many neutrals who think an early second is around the mark for Mitch.
Two seconds should be more than enough to do the deal, it’ll allow you to get into the top 5, but I think this has become more about getting one back over SOS than anything else.
Would honestly rather keep 12 should Sydney trade with us and come back for Gov next year. Cam McCarthy 2.0
Just one trade that comes to mind... of many more including trades he made for GWS.
Could say the same for a lot of list managers, as there is only one #1 team....which is currently the eagles and you could pick out bad trades they've done in recent years also.
Neutrals generally have an unbiased view of things, hence why people appreciate their view.
The AFC and director of footy aren't the only ones who have a say in where McGovern's trade lies....the team/person trading him in has a say also.
He has seen through 3 trade/draft periods...said from the get go he would turn the list over (which he has done in an unprecedented manner) and it wouldn't be until the 4th period (which we're entering) that the real business of trading for better and older players will commence. No other list manager trades as many spuds onto one list though, continues to search for second rate players who are not in a 22 that are going deep into finals. Yes eagles won the flag but there was 11-12 teams that were in realistic contention and anyone of which probably could have won if a few things went their way. Carlton do not seem to be going in contention with SOS incharge making many horrible decisions.
Yeah, for a player that doesn't want to play for the club they are at again...different storyas we know the only one that really counts when a players is contracted as the great man SOS says himself

Sorry there was context earlier in the thread RE their draft history and that bringing in McGovern is a step in the right direction of them becoming a bit more of a destination club and that their list management could be willing to pay more for him knowing that it may then lead to other recuitments but that got a bit lost in things.Mitch McGovern [requested a trade to Carlton]
Let's get back on track thanks.
If you want to discuss Carlton's recent draft history, start another thread. It has nothing to do with the McGovern trade.
Of course Gibbs wanted to play for the club that's why he requested a tradeYeah, for a player that doesn't want to play for the club they are at again...different story
This has been done to death but Gibbs and McGovern are different in that regard.
Well aware that McGovern has two more years like Gibbs...but he doesn't want to play for Adelaide again...where as Gibbs publicly stated he was fine to play on at Carlton.
And like so many others have said before on here (yawn)... if a trade cant come to fruition, so be it...we move on.
Reid did show interest in McAdam on trade radio this morning, he also said that the crows have been watching him for the last 18 months.Plus Reid has never indicated he's interested in McAdam, that's the media being the media. I don't know how many times I need to link this guys stats to show that he will not help the crows. Avg 8 disposals a game, 2 goals, 2 tackles... he's the occasional highlight reel, not the forward 50 pressure crows want. Add to this that Stengle has just told Richmond he wants to be traded to the crows which will get done so we don't need another small forward as he fits the mold we want plus is a much better all round player than McAdam, there's no way Crows take this guy.
AND just to make things even better, the following has just been announced - "Adelaide and Port Adelaide have been given access to an increased pool of top up players for their state league sides following the Commission’s review of their licence conditions and list regulations.
The commission approved the changes in a bid to ensure the SANFL and its clubs continue to provide the best talent pathway opportunities to young South Australians, ensuring as many players as possible reach the AFL, according to SANFL football operations manager Tom Hurley.
The Crows and Power can now contract 10 players who will receive an upfront payment of up to $4000 and they are able to obtain players over 19 years of age not on the 40-player lists at the eight state league clubs. Previously, those players had to be under 25."
So in a nutshell, both Crows and Port will now have access to develop more young talent.
Ummm...yeah...Of course Gibbs wanted to play for the club that's why he requested a trade
25 + McAdam is overs, so we indeed will be paying overs just not the triple value some of you crows fans expect.as we know the only one that really counts when a players is contracted as the great man SOS says himself

yea hates the club so much he went to the bnf and if currently still training at the club. He’s requested a trade yes but ain’t holding this club to ransom.Yeah, for a player that doesn't want to play for the club they are at again...different story

Serious question....how many times you seen McAdam play?25 + McAdam is overs, so we indeed will be paying overs just not the triple value some of you crows fans expect.

Never, 25 is fair value for a player of Mcgoverns current output and anything on top of that is overs. It won't actually be McAdam, it will be the state league pick which you will use on whoever you rate.Serious question....how many times you seen McAdam play?
Yea we pick up the state league players in the rookie draft, no need to use a gun like McGovern for that. Obviously you’ve probably only seen MM a handful of time cause pick 25 is so unders you either don’t know anything about him or your clearly trolling.Never, 25 is fair value for a player of Mcgoverns current output and anything on top of that is overs. Of course he did hahahahaGibbs wanted to play for Carlton but needed to live in South Australia.
Clearly the circumstances are different with McGovern. McGovern has issues with Adelaide.
