Traded Mitch McGovern [traded to Carlton in a three-way trade involving Sydney and McAdam]

Most Adelaide supporters overrated their players significantly. It's the small pond I think.

Mitch is a 190cm medium forward who doesn't have enough pace to provide significant defensive pressure, and has proven himself injury prone. Not really top 10 pick material imo.
Not worth a top 10 pick but have you seen how quick he is?

What is clear to me throughout this exchange is that the two clubs see things very differently. Adelaide posters have a view on MM's worth. Carlton have a different view.

Now Adelaide posters actually know what they are talking about...MM is a really good player.

Carlton posters think this is about something that is is not....Gibbs

But to be fair, Adelaide posters remember the Gibbs trade. But Carlton supports seem to think that they actually acted in Gibbs best interest.

The only reason Adelaide didn't do the Gibbs deal the first time around is they simply couldn't afford it. With the Lever and CC trades, it became possible in the next year.

In SOS we trust.

Blues supporters may be unhappy with the trade result. I'm OK with that because you will get a better player than you are expecting. '

Some people have proven their lack of knowledge for the guy but to now question his pace proves it again

Adelaide supporters are the ones that bring up the Gibbs deal, not us. Just because he is contracted doesnt mean hes worth a top 10 pick. Ive watched plenty of games involving Gov, Ive seen his highlights package and ive seen him miss lots of footy through various injuries. A fair deal will get done but nowhere near what Adelaide supporters want.

You’ve never seen him play have you? Lol

Its funny all this speculation on what going to Happen whats a good deal and how happy the Crow will be to accept picks in the 20's or a state league player.
Well, Sorry boys I have some bad news. the Only member of the Crow list management team that has not mentioned, that the trade must Benefit the Crow has been Burton who has not said anything.
2 member of this team have mention pick in the 20's will not do.

Now some little facts that seem to have been forgotten in all the bull. M McGovern will play AFL next year, be it the Crow or Carlton, He will not sit out the year,
The List management team will not entertain picks in the 20's.
State league or any players will be steak knife only not deal clinches.
And Again the Crows will not trade McGovern unless it benefits them full stop.

Don’t bother, they’re all deaf despite what representatives of the AFC have said.

Clearly none of the posters on here are negotiators but fortunately the professionals doing the trading are. And the professionals know that the last thing you do in a negotiation is make ambit claims. So when Ogilvie says Gov is worth a top 5 or 10 pick, and when Reid says that picks in the 20’s won’t do, they actually mean it and they’re not going to accept otherwise, despite what Carlton trolls or Sam McClure say. (Actually, McClure is a Carlton troll)

Mitch Mcgovern has averaged 1.4 goals a game in the last 2 seasons.

We have:
1. Jordan De Goey (2.3 goals a game)
2. Brody Mihocek (1.8 goals a game)
3. Will Hoskin Elliot (1.6 goals a game)
4. Josh Thomas (1.5 goals a game)
5. Jaidyn Stephensen (1.5 goals a game)
6. Mason Cox (1.0 goal a game)

All of these players offer other dimensions more than just goal kicking too... Hoskin-Elliot leads high up the ground in a Gunston style, Thomas rotates heavily through the midfield, Stephensen is a line breaker that also applies alot of pressure etc... Cox is a R/F.

So pretty much if Mcgovern played for us, he'd pretty much be our 7th forward and would struggle to get a game. Even his best seasons have been mediocre.

He's currently a C+ forward with the potential of reaching B/B+ status. I would say even 2x 2nd rounders is overs, Mitch Mcgovern is worth nothing more than pick 25 on its own.

If Mcgovern is worth 1 good first round pick like Adelaide supporters claim then our forward line as a whole is worth 92 first rounders.

If this forward line is so magical why did you want tom lynch and with jamie elliot to come back

Because Tom Lynch has averaged more than 3 goals a game in a season before? And do you mean why do we want Jamie Elliot to come back? Actually makes no sense.

Truth is Mcgovern hasn't shown much consistent performance over the years, if a club does pay more than pick 25 it would be for his potential, and that in my opinion is overs.

This post just tells me you haven’t watched McGovern play.

I do rate Mcgovern, he has good upside, but paying a pick in the top ten is crazy.

In the last two season has only played 24 games. 12 games per year, which is terrible.

In his best season he was only good because he was playing behind Jenkins, Walker and even Lynch.
Nobody even gave a shit about him, which is why he had a decent seaosn.

He may be contracted but no way r we paying a top ten pick! The pick should be between 15-25 + a state league player.

You cant argue for good picks on the scope he has. Otherwise all of our younger players are worth 1st round picks ;)

Come at me Adelaide fannnnns

Stop the pissing about!

Just give us (Swans) your 24+25, we'll give you 12 and Adelaide can take that to the draft or bundle it for something else. This trade is not as complicated as everyone is making it out to be.

Reid wants McAdam as well.. how does all this fit in?

The best SANFL player is clearly Grigg over the past 2 years and we cut him, little bit of over rating over these players

But I guess you've never been to a SANFL game and seen the make up of the teams with 17 year olds and country players making up the teams

I cannot believe I have seen some sense from a Collingwood supporter. I think it says a lot about Adelaide supporters.

This is probably what could happen. We will have to pay overs as he is contracted, i rate this guy around pick 19, most logical supporters of different clubs view the same. I suspect we will try get that pick off you guys for our 2nd rounders, if thats declined i guess we wil have to offer both our second rounders for him.

Some of these Adelaide supporters though are legit out of their mind. They think 2 second rounders is not enough for this guy, when it is clearly overs, some of them even suggesting Adelaide wont part with him even for pick 7, i don't even think Charlie Curnow would go for pick 7, not yet atleast.

Everyone has seen him play.

The fact of the matter is he's your 5th best forward - Jenkins, Lynch, Tex and Eddie. Now granted Adelaide have one of the better forward line going around, nevertheless Mogovern is not one of your better ones.

Our 5th best forward is probably Castagna and he's about worth a half eaten pie, so pick 24 and 25 is not that bad all things considered.
