The more I think about Chad Warner the more annoyed I get.

This is a guy who averaged 7.4 tackles a game in at Colts level and 8 tackles a game in the U18s Championships.

Who now can't be arsed tackling.

All because he is our "attacking mid".

Well Patrick Dangerfield was Geelong's "attacking mid" but he still ****ing cracked in. You know how many contested possessions he averaged in his Brownlow year? 16.2.

You know how many Warner is averaging this year? 8.4

Seriously pissing me off now. Get him out of the midfield and tell him he's not allowed back in until he rediscovers what hard work is. Over it.
Trade Rowbottom for a second rounder, because Horse will make him more defensive and ruin him like he did George Hewett.
Get Warner out of the centre because he doesn't tackle enough.

Not all midfielders are the same.

For us (season averages) Chad is 3rd for disposals, =4th for clearances, 2nd for I50s, 3rd for goal assists and score involvements, 5th for goals, 5th for contested possessions, 3rd for metres gained and let's not forget =5th for tackles.

I really like Rowbottom's inside pressure/tackling, I really like Chad's run and carry and delivery.
They play different roles and excel in different areas.

You seem to have very set ideas on what a good/effective mid is.
For example you suggested we should chase Jack Steele for next season and your great appreciation of George Hewett is well known.
My view is the one thing we don't want is less speed.

Of all the mids on our list Chad is about the only true "attacking mid" we have.
Could he improve his tackling? Yep.

But to move him out of midfield for that reason makes no sense to me.

I also like his run and carry and delivery. But we'd get the same contributions from him playing him off a wing while giving his spot inside to someone better suited to the contest.

It's all general play. He rarely actually shows any of his best attributes when playing close to the contest.

HB - he gets it.

I like fast players.

On top of the comp.
Literally a % that's miles ahead of everyone else.
Had two shit games.

Omfg . Burn it. Burn it to the ground.

The recency bias is pathetic AF.

* Broke my own idea of concentrating on a pies preview

100. I actually can’t wait to start the autopsy thread when we win.

Am thinking, to quote Paul Keating, “This is a win for the true believers”

It's not "just 2 bad games". It's 6 weeks, after letting teams get off to big starts for weeks beforehand, of 1-5. Yeah we put in a good shift against the Lions, but that's the only week worth hanging our hat on.

Freo - poor
Saints - awful
North - bye round by the 2nd quarter
Dogs - awful
Port - probably the worst performance the comp has seen in years, and the worst in recent decades for us.

I want us to win the flag and we're just flushing our season away.

Like Tough parenting if theres only one training session

When you know youve done something so bad mum and dad dont yell

Instead you get space and time on your own to feel bad and own up yourself

Not a bad approach tbh

no level of coaching will change effort. Players have to own it.
