My 2013 round 1 team

That's what I thought. I wouldn't mind seeing him given a chance to play in that position at AFL level. I don't think he's going to make it as a forward, but defence may be the answer.

Saw him live down at the bay last year a few times.

From what I have seen he was very good floating off the HB flank at SANFL level - but I just think he doesn't have enough weapons to hold down that position at AFL level.

He is a competent footballer and from what I have seen doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. Its more the fact that he doesn't have any stand out weapons which will see him succeed at AFL level. I don't think he is quick enough for that rebounding role at Half Back at AFL level. His disposal is good - but not exceptional. He is quick for his size but not overly quick.

The only way he might succeed at AFL level is if we use him in the Sub role due to his versatility. Can play as a makeshift forward/wingman/defender and he could find himself in the rotations as we work through our team balance in regards to playing a 2nd ruckman (McKernan) or letting JJ be a 70/30 forward/ruckman.

This may have already been disussed so apologies in advance but I love the look of Kerridge, how is he tracking? Chance for Round 1?

How do you all think he will go this year? Reminds me a little of Goodwin (Big call I know), seems to have all the tools and just looks like he needs game time to develop.

I am looking forward to seeing the following players in the 22 against Essendon.

Luke Thompson, Tambling, Jaensch, Martin, Petrenko, McKernan, Lynch and Riley. They are not all in my "best 22" but it would be fun to see the head of a much loved moderator explode.

P.S. Kerridge needs another couple of years at Sturt before we give him any meaningful game time.

I think he could definitely steal a spot by years end. Someone like Smith, Martin, Wright, Jaensch or Henderson. Would be very tough to do though.

I was just baiting some of the other Crow BF members. I would love to see Kerridge get a chance against Essendon but if your seeking intel for Supercoach or Dreamteam you will probably be disappointed.

If fit, Smith and Wright are in our best 12 but Kerridge may nudge in front of Martin and Jaensch. Unless someone is injured this week we will play all of our best 22 on Friday so if Kerridge is missing (as I suspect) then he is virtually no chance for round 1.

Thanks, not even for SC really just liked the look of him last year and wanted to see how he is going? It will be interesting to see how Sando uses him this year, if and when he does. I hope he holds his spot if he gets a chance as I think he will be a great player for the club down the track.

Odds are pretty good that at least some of those will be playing in R1. Petrenko & Tambling are probably the most likely, though I think Riley is probably the best player on that list.

Kerridge I think will be very much like Scott Thompson, not particularly flashy but just a real hard nut, powerful clearance winner who is extremely good at what he does. He's still very much on the fringe and is probably 2 years away from really showing us what he can do.

As we get closer, this is probably more a prediction of who'll be in as opposed to who I want:

B: Reilly - Rutten - Shaw
HB: Brown - Talia - Mackay
C: Martin - Thompson - Sloane
HF: Vince - Walker - Riley
F: Porplyzia - Jenkins - Johncock
1R: Jacobs - Dangerfield - Wright
I: van Berlo, Henderson, Douglas
S: Crouch
E: McKernan, Kerridge, Tambling

I think Sando will be tossing up between:
Otten and Shaw - Ottens has been fit, but hardly impressive and Shaw showed last year that when fit he's our best 3rd tall option.
Brown and Tambling - Would have been Tambling's if he'd stayed on the park, run out of time now (unless he plays this weekend) so Brown will get it. Plus I get the feeling they want to get games into Brown.
Martin's probably done enough as a winger/half forward, offers something a little different.
Riley and Petrenko - For that hard nut small forward, Petrenko will need a few games in SANFL I feel, Riley deserves it.
Johncock and Callinan - it can only be one IMO, the Geelong game suggests they're leaning towards Johncock, but he hardly put his spot out of quesion.
Would love to see us run with a taller forward line, incorperating McKernan as the 2nd ruck, however Sando has shown that when he's in doubt, he will always pick the smaller player. Not sure I agree, but he's coach.

I think Rd 1 Will look like:

FB: Reilly - Rutten - Brown
HB: Shaw - Talia - Van Berlo
C: Henderson - Thompson - Mackay
HF: Vince - Walker - Wright
F: Porplyzia - Jenkins - Callinan
1R: Jacobs - Dangerfield - Sloane
IC: Riley, Douglas, Crouch,
Sub: Johncock
E: McKernan, Riley, Martin

How is Lewis Johnstone going guys? What are his prospects in 2013?
Has a great opportunity with Tippett leaving & we unfortunately missed out on Jessie White (;))... but currently behind Jenkins as a forward

Bling deserves a go he has been the best small defender through the Mick Mouse Cup
Reilly Vince Douglas should be leaders not the INCONSISTENT'S
Brown will take time I hope he doesn't watch the inconsistent s play or he could turn out like them

Jacobs,Dangerfield,Wright
Brown Crouch Douglas
Sub...Johncock

Out Bling........ IN Shaw

I think I might be in the same boat. With most rookies there is usually one particular trait/talent that attracts attention but with Kerridge there doesn't seem to be anything that stands out, at least at first glance.
Bit like Kane Johnston ....but look how he turned out ;)

Close I reckon.

Callinan in for Riley and you've just picked our Round 1 team.

I fear you are correct Carl but can we afford to pump another 20+ games into Johncock and Callinan in 2013? If we don't win the flag (possible but not probable) then we will be weaker at the end of the year than the start. We were the most conservative club in the AFL last season when it came to playing kids (18 and 19 year olds). Would we have finished any lower if we had played Dogga, Stiffy, Nutta etc less and Kerridge, Lyons and Riley more?

If Crouch is wearing the green singlet against Essendon then I will be very disappointed.

Yep. Agree with this.

Something in me just thinks the line up would look infinitely stronger if Hendo and VB swapped spots.

Ditto, get him amongst it early.

I know it's popular around here to predict that Crouch will spend more time in lime green than red, blue & gold.. but I think Johncock will be our specialist super-sub this year, with Crouch being part of the starting 21 most weeks. Johncock is able to play at either end of the ground and has the experience to come in and make an impact straight away. He's the perfect sub, as far as I'm concerned.
