well im pretty sure we kicked 14 goals in the 2nd quarter. thats all i remember.
correct, we kicked 14.2, which is the highest 2nd quarter score of any team in the history of VFL/AFL

We smashed them, and Darren Jarman kicked an awesome goal from the north eastern pocket late on.

Yep, was right infront of me, and he turned around and faced the crowd after he split the middle and everyone went ballistic. He was walking back to full forward after celebrating with his team mates and got a standing ovation.

This was great, seeing as I usually am looking at something else when great things happen haha :thumbsu::)

Did the Crows win that by 99 points?

Have you blokes won a game since or previous by 99 points??

That could also be a little bit of history? :p
correct. it's the one and only time we have won a game by 99, after leading by 108 (IIRC) at half time (which was i think the 4th largest half time margin at the time..)

I still clearly remember the 4th showdown in 1998 when we absolutley smashed Port. The crowd was going berserk after Matthew Robran kicks a monster.

The 7th showdown we had recently snapped a 10 game losing streak with our first win in 2000 in Round 6. But in Round 7 Port were smashing us. Somehow we managed to come back from 40 or so down to win on a clear Sunday in 2000 with Roo playing a super game and Macca kicking the winning goal late in that game. This game was legendary.

Round 22, 2005 we had to win against West Coast in Perth to claim the minor premiership and it was difficult travelling over there to face a team that had sat in top spot for many weeks. But somehow we managed to pull it off. The Sarge (Ian Perrie) came up huge in that game in his hometown, I remember he kicked a crucial goal to keep our lead safe, but just. I still think this is our best ever win under current coach Neil Craig.

i reckon that goal was half time? not the final siren. and yeh that was the turning game of the season for mine.

how about 1992 - Rnd 23
Adelaide 24-25 (169) d Geelong 11-12 (78) Football Park Crowd - 46,450
i was sitting behind the old chicken wire fence at the southern end watching hodges kick about a thousand goals. any other memories from that game?

This must be a club record for number of scoring shots in game?

I do remember being at a game in the shaw era when we kicked 23.23 161 to smash Essendon which was a nice feeling.

I remember that Rnd 22 game. Was a brilliant way to finish the H&A season, take out the Minor Premiership. It was the mircale that never happened though. Damn it.

What about Rnd 22 2006. It think we were having a shitty run, and everyone was saying if we didnt beat Melbourne we were doomed.

I remember it being quite close for a bit of the game, then winning by a smallish margin. I remember going home thanking every god that has existed.

2 memories from that game, both in the last quarter:

1. Bassett going forward early in the last and coming out on a hard lead into the North Eastern pocket. Takes a bullet of a pass as clean as a whistle about six inches above his eyes. Goes back and nails the shot from about 45 out near enough the boundary. I called at that moment that we would win the game.

2. The ball in our forward line about half way through the last quarter. Meanwhile Roo was in the centre square stretching out his cramping calves. Still went on to basically single handedly win us the game. Makes me wonder with all the rotations now... when the game is on the line can you afford to just leave your champions out there, trusting that they will rise to the occasion?

Here's one that I have always liked: Hawthorn round 12, 1992.

i was at pizza hut.. dining in.. so missed the 1st quarter. remember when pizza hut was good?

anyway. darrel hart kickin that last goal was gold.

It was a horrible Saturday Afternoon at Waverley. And the last 30 or so seconds was amazing. The ball was in the Hawks goalsquare, but we kept on taking them down and down and down. The Siren goes and Adelaide wins it baby!.

I also remember Round 2, 2005 when Macca kicked that dribbler from the boundryline off his left foot to give us the lead against Collingwood which turned out to win us the game. What a great win was that! Oh boy wasn't I excited about the 2005 season after that win.

R18 2003 against Sydney at AAMI, remember Wayne Carey's winning goal when he marked with one hand inside the line and his feet over the goal line. Kept the ball in play, then stepped back in and snapped under pressure. The crowd went berserk and the Crows won by 4 points.

I went to this game with my mum back in the day and IIRC it was actually a Monday.

Possibly Queens Birthday or something??

I remember that day COllingwood played St.Kilda and the saints won by a point - I just remember that coz not many times there are 2 x 1 point games in the one day.

Also Jarman Vs Jarman and Andrew doing his little "kiss" to the crowd.:p

They officially merged with Brisbane around then???

Amusing that the AFL were scared of Fitzroy merging with North Melbourne, making North stronger. So allowed them to merge with the Bears, who were near bottom.

quite wrong actually Bears finished 3rd in '96 after being in the top 8 for nearly the whole year and finished 6th the year before in '95 so they weren't near the bottom of the league

Open question - is it ok if I/someone else starts this thread on the main board, for random AFL games?

An absolutely awesome thread, full credit - and I saw it on the index thinking it was a thread about the AFV distributers!

Big turnaround between those two games... 165 points. Next question is:

What is the Crows' biggest turnaround between two matches against the same club in the same season? And it's not Richmond 1997.

sydney in 1999?

But there was one bigger... hint the game we won has been mentioned previously in this thread.

1992

Round 8 - Geelong 32.18 = 210 D Adelaide 12.15 = 87

round 23 - Adelaide 24.25 = 169 D Geelong 12.11=78

214 point turn around.
