so, how about that football eh?
oh geez, I posted in the wrong thread, carry on with the dumpster fire thenA lot of Non-Dees Non-Footy Chat going on, eh?
Kennett chat has been moved to the Random Chat thread, although I think it had run its course anyway.
OT: Lol Hardwick crying over Stack not being able to play VFL, boo Carlton coming good again (maybe, any team where Oscar is a regular can't be too reliable).
I went to a lot of Casey games back then, they were always pretty competitive. Made top 4 more often than not, but it was a total false economy. None of the players in the reserves had the talent to step up and make an impact because the core of our team in those years were abysmal.Norf did the triple double on the weekend. 100 point loss in both AFL and VFL.
Great stuff, wonder how many times we did it between 2011-2013

I wish we did. The culture was already in the toilet so no harm could have been done. At least we would have had something to watch when we got smashed by 80 points every week. We would even get some free media coverage when he inevitably got on the piss and crashed his car into a Primary School.Remember people on the board here kept asking if we could put Fev on the list every week. Good times.
Didn't we have a collective 300pt loss on the weekend of 186? Vaguely remember Gawn putting it in his book as he played in the ressies who lost by 120 odd, then watched the ones...Norf did the triple double on the weekend. 100 point loss in both AFL and VFL.

I assume this is a record. This club holds all the best ones.Didn't we have a collective 300pt loss on the weekend of 186? Vaguely remember Gawn putting it in his book as he played in the ressies who lost by 120 odd, then watched the ones...

I thought even then it was a horrific idea, but a tiny part of me said WTF just try it …. couldn’t surely have a worse outcomeRemember people on the board here kept asking if we could put Fev on the list every week. Good times.
The comebacks are unreal. I must have watched 3 games this weekend where you pretty much switch off because the outcome seemed inevitable, then like 25 minutes later it’s evenGotta say I'm enjoying all these comebacks, alot more like 90s early 00s footy. Reckon for a while in the mid 2010s teams were able to shut games down when 20-30 up.
Much as I hate to say it the 6-6-6 rule and the time wasting rules have made a huge impact in this. It actually hurts you if you don't try and get it forward quickly
With 6-6-6 you can't stop teams when they get their tail up. Look at the dogs against us round 1. We dominated them almost all game but when they got hot they piled 8 in a row on because we couldn't shut the game down. The comebacks are unreal. There's been a lot of chat about Collingwood being more direct this year. Under Bucks they'd look for marks behind or laterally to control the ball but this year have just blitzed forward. With 6-6-6 you can't stop teams when they get their tail up. I would bet money that teams go backwards and sideways way less from centre bounce and instead run and handball through the front. If you do that ala the GF it's near impossible to stop
It might not last, but teams seemed to wanna move it slowly to set up behind the ball but I think they are realizing it's not that difficult to score if you move it quickly now because it's 1-1There's been a lot of chat about Collingwood being more direct this year. It makes Carlton so ******* Dangerous with McKay and Curnow.
Steve May will punch McKay in the mouth.
Yep, teams with half decent forwards can be so much more dangerous. Wright got one or two from a quick centre clearance that's pretty much impossible to stop a mark.It might not last, but teams seemed to wanna move it slowly to set up behind the ball but I think they are realizing it's not that difficult to score if you move it quickly now because it's 1-1

That's why we're premiers and not pretendersSteve May will punch McKay in the mouth.
Plus defenders are probably more vulnerable to penalties then ever before. Pretty hard to punch the ball one-on-one without giving away the free. I think this is one of the reasons why your good interceptors are more highly valued now. Being able to read the ball and leave your man to help out is a big deal nowYep, teams with half decent forwards can be so much more dangerous.
