I am, but we need to make bold decisions - got to get rid of someone who's rated to get a couple in the top 20 for mine. It's a strong draft and we'd be idiots to let it slip by without finding some top end quality from it.

We make bold decisions last year and trade away 2 x Rd 1 picks. And it works for us. Now you want to trade out the player age range we just brought people in to fill to get picks in the top 20 ( realistically 10 -20).

Ok.. Bold on the already bold.

I'm not sure what the obsession with the first round is.
It's considered one of the strongest drafts ever by those in the know, especially at the top end, so that might be why there's a bit of an 'obsession' with first round picks.

Not bad for a bloke who quit two jobs to get there.
I have no issue with that either. He gave up footy to try do one thing, it wasn't for him so he moved on

Unless of course I am completely ignorant about what really went on... which is every chance mind you

Port will field offers for Lobbe, we should look at Lobbe for Vardy that gives us another ruck option.
I suggested that and lost half my face after I was severely attacked.

So Freo's next pick after 3 is 40 then 58.
Would both of those be what it takes for them to get Kersten and Hambling?
Id be pushing for Rd2 2017 next year for Kersten. While that seems high, and it is, the NFL rates future picks as a Rd higher required as opposed to value in the current year as its not a tangible asset until 12 months time. ( yes I know we have little to no leverage here)

Yeah, which is what Wells is hinting at anyway - he knows it's a far stronger draft this year than last and we need to find a way back in it.

The 'and it works for us,' is a bit dubious - Dangerfield: yes, all our other recruits are still unknowns in some respects considering none of them performed well in finals.

Little myopic to focus on 2 games IMO but then again... it is you. Carry on.

This draft or next years?

But c'mon Daz they were recruited ultimately to bring us finals success??

And it was never a 2016 or bust scenario.
We brought in 4 players with 5-8 years of footy left.

Well they can, but it would mean that Mackie (more than likely) plays VFL. It's important to note I think that having three tall defenders + Mackie has worked the overwhelming majority of the time (from 2007 to now - that's 10 full seasons). It's only once Mackie's speed has declined it's becoming more questionable.

That's true but I also wonder whether evolution of the game over the last 10 years has also made it a setup that isn't really ideal now anyway? Mackie was never what I would call "quick" by foot; it seems from watching him recently that it's more his decision making and agility that has declined. Either way, we can't afford to have a similar setup in 2017 to 2016.

It seems that Wells this morning has identified that more speed is needed down back so hopefully we see at least a couple new personnel down back next year.

Deledio and Thurlow (if both fit) will go a long way to fixing part of the problem.

With Wells mentioning a KPF, I have a feeling we might be having a chat to Schulz...
It would allow Hawk to move up the ground a bit.
