People thinking a new coach will be the answer to our problems are dreaming.
Our biggest problem is the playing group it’s not good enough and has more holes than a slice of Swiss Cheese.
Yeah Hinkley sucks but the players are getting away with criticism because everyone’s on the burn Ken bandwagon.
Can’t wait to see who people will blame after Ken’s gone and this mood are still dishing out PW performances.

Key elements to success:

Playing list
Culture
Strategies/tactics

All directly impacted by:

Coaching

The end.

lol - saw a tweet this morning spruiking a podcast called The Crowject - I won't dignify it by posting it here - featuring segments such as Cecil and Beryl of the Week (I shit you not) and a chat with KG! I was tempted to ask them if Jimmy Rowe will be a Crowject in the near future.

"KG? - blimey, that bugger's even older than I am!"

Crows fans complaining about the SANFL restrictions ffs.

They were literally brought in to scupper Ports reserves. It was all good then.

There's a senior section of the Essendon playing group who want Ross Lyon to take control of the club. This group want a senior mentor & disciplined approach. Unclear if Ross is willing to subject himself to the full process or if he knows what the process is at this point.

Aren't priority picks almost exclusively reserved for Victorian teams?

Like gold coast is the first non vic team for 20 years to get that kind of assistance
After the Kruezer cup and Melbourne taking in 2009, AFL have handed out priority picks at the end of Rd 1. We got one in 2011 pick 27 when GWS entering meant first round was 25 picks before any compo picks were allocated. Traded that for Brad Ebert.

But yes Pre Rd 1 picks are allocated for Vic teams and basket case expansion teams.

I like the fact we literally lost a player in 2012 and the afl were like 'lol, suck it up pussies'

lol that club sure is ass about

And more to the point, the 'solution' of a priority pick doesn't actually address the problem. North's problem is that they're bad now, not that they'll be bad in 3-4 years' time. If they get an end of first round PP, how does that help them next year? They had an end of first round pick this year (Josh Goater), he played one game.
Priority picks (if they have to exist), should not be able to be taken to the draft by teams. They should only be able to be used to trade for players (that have played at least 2 years, but not more than 8, so no 'almost drafting' or 'getting past it' players). Clubs would be able to package the pick up with another pick or player to get a better player, but not split it to get any picks back.

So the likes of North would be able to get a solid first 22 player, ready to go round 1 2023. Yeah, not as exciting as another youngster, but one that helps them immediately improve.

The only problem with this is that you need someone willing to got there.

And the most likely are players from the top teams with tight caps not getting opportunities and looking for money.

So you might end up with extra high picks going to the top teams.

  • A competent coach wouldn't have played Sam Mayes at full forward against the stingiest defence in the league.
  • A competent coach wouldn't have dropped Sam Hayes, and then bemoaned the fact that we don't have a decent ruckman.
  • A competent coach could definitely get more out of a playing group than one who's been in the chair for 10 years, and is now out of ideas - take Collingwood for example.

Looks like the Rankine trade to Adelaide is not as black and white as we thought.Gold Coast who have let players leave the club over there history.
Are digging in with the GC / CEO making a statement yesterday.Good luck in trying but the offers just to good to ignore.

You would think Adelaide would also have a crack at Grundy. There probably in trouble if ROB falls over early next year.Depending on what's left in the kitty after the Rankine trade.

Your missing my point I agree Ken is shyt but changing him won’t make a rats arse difference until we do something about this list. Guys like Jonas should not even be playing but he’s not only getting a game every week he’s our captain 😂😂😂 and it’s not just him he has plenty of mates who should be gone with him.

Posters have there minds made up if Ken goes all will be good again like the Fairy’s are going to spray magic dust and all these shyt players will all of a sudden turn into champions.
Even when Ken does finely go who you think we will end up with?
All this BS I’ve been reading for months about getting Clarkson was another big wet dream that was never going to happen.
The best we will end up with is some assistant who’s going nowhere at another club.
The way this board runs things don’t be surprised if we end up with somebody Worse than Hinkley🤪.

Yep pretty much where I've been at for a while now.

Hard to get excited about what could be when Kenny leaves when you have no faith in the administration to make a decent selection.

I'm so cynical about the club right now that I'm almost convinced the only reason Kenny is still here is because the club is shitting themselves just thinking about having to find a replacement

Worse than Hinkley? That's a big call. The guy is a record breaker - nobody in the history of the game has coached the same club for 10 years without at least 1 grand final.

At the risk of speaking on behalf of others on this board, I don't think anyone is expecting immediate success under a new coach. But we're just sick of the one we've got, and it's time to give someone else a go.

So a new coach is going to make
Jonas
McKenzie
McEntee
DBJ
Clurey and others into good players ?
