For those interested in the facts...

As I see it this is not a resignation but Clarkson stepping away from coaching for an indefinite period. Probably the toll from the AFL's ongoing investigation. Maybe the investigators are about to release their findings?

Lol. Quoting a news.com article as 'facts'

Take another look.

Looking through the news.com article it is a series of quotes direct from the statement issued by North Melbourne and a statement issued by Clarkson. Hard to dispute any of that. Their is little journalistic opinion in it save for a few Gerard Whateley comments near the end and he basically agrees with Todd Viney's view. The fact is that Clarkson himself has a dead set go at Hawthorn. From Alistair Clarkson...

“There‘s one particular party out there that was the catalyst for all this, that haven’t been investigated at all — their governance and conduct in this whole thing, the Hawthorn Football Club, just shameful,” Clarkson said.
“Let‘s do an investigation on them and their practices and see how they go."

But to satisfy the critic(s) I have replaced the news.com source with the ABC and guess what, most of the ABC story is the same direct quotes with the exception of the quotes from Clarkson.

He's absolutely not wrong in that this has been dragged out longer than it needs to, but I would be pointing the blame at that on the AFL who clearly tried to drag this out to a point everyone forgot about it, and now it's blown up in their face.

But other than that I'm not really interested in listening to him try and play victim here.

Yes, take everything on face value like a good boy.

the AFL struck gold blaming metal health stuff on crooked peoples crooked doings. now they're pretending alistair clarkson is suffering lmao. nothing will beat the dayne beams stuff though.

Listen to Chocco and you'll get a different story. Clarko took the off field guts out of Port when he left, not to mention a couple of alright players. That included our innovative IT Dept, fitness coach Andrew Russell, List Manager Chris Pelchen and recruiting manager (and former Hawks development coach) Geoff Morris.

BTW - Clarkson was recommended to Hawthorn by Bucky to fill the coaching vacancy created by Peter Schwab’s sacking.

If only our club had put as much effort into building its own premiership winning capability post 2004 as it did in creating one for Hawthorn.
One could argue if we looked after all those people they wouldn’t have left. The fact they packed up and followed him is a blight on us.

Did anyone else catch what McGuire said last night about getting rid of clubs that don't have a chance of getting off the bottom in the next 5 years?

Just after the newsreader asked him to calm the farm.
I turned off after McGuire tried to lecture everyone about the term 'cultural sensitivities' in relation to the Hawthorn Indigenous investigation without a hint of irony.

An absolute bell-end with zero self awareness.

and a few years back that might have included Collingwood. Amazing but not surprising that Eddie can shoot his mouth off when Collingwood sit on top of the ladder. I suspect if a move was made to ditch a Melbourne club Eddie would be one of the first to leap to that club's defence.

Saw this on SEN:

“We’ve seen throughout the year some fructuous moments will Alastair as well. The run in the with the journalist at Arden Street, everything going on with the Tarryn Thomas situation, all manner of things pertaining to Jason Horne-Francis and that conversation."

Think you might've picked the wrong adjective there, Sammy

Perhaps he means:

Or possibly FruChocs moments from his time in SA with Centrals and us. Heavens knows I've had my FruChocs moments.

CARLTON is out of the primetime slots and Collingwood will host a rare home game at Marvel Stadium against Brisbane in the penultimate round after the AFL confirmed its fixture for rounds 16 to 23. The Blues have been front and centre for Thursday night (three times) and Friday night (twice) games early in the year but, after their patchy start to 2023, have just one marquee slot in the final third of the season – a round 20 blockbuster against arch rival Collingwood.

The Western Bulldogs are also set for more national visibility while Richmond, the Lions and Magpies will also play regularly on the big stage. The AFL has locked in Friday night's round 23 match between Collingwood and Brisbane at Marvel, saying it hoped to see a packed house between the two premiership fancies. The Tigers and Sydney both have two extra Thursday night fixtures, with that timeslot seeing its last action in round 18. In all there will be 11 Thursday night games by season's end, one more than in 2022.
