Bit of talk about Port v Melbourne at 37:50 with Roos on 360.
Interesting to hear Bomber say that he's been barracking for us all year.
Well he said last week that he just loves watching Port play but he gave us a bit of insight as to why we didn't get any media this week when he said he found himself barracking for Melbourne (even when they talked to Roos about the game it was all how good and brave was Melbourne), I think we ruined the party for them as Melbourne have been a nice story this year where they went from 100 point thrashings every game last year to getting a messiah (Roos) making a smart but risky trade at the beginning of the year #2 in the draft to pick up 2 young guns (Salem and Tyson) to now becoming a competitive team who look like to be heading in the right direction although still not as stunning as our last year rise but I predict they'll bypass a lot of victorian teams next year.
Who knows he may try and trade off a top pick again because it is surprising that struggling teams don't do it more often (offer a high pick and big money to star players from strong teams) to try and turn it around quickly, I mean I realize it didn't work out for the last team to trade a high pick (Cows gave up #2 and #18 for a 31 yr old Wayne Carey dodgy hamstrings and all) but that would have to go down in the dumbest trade of all time (shouldn't be surprised) especially given that the same draft we gave up #13 and #31 to the Roos for a 25 yr old future Power Norm Smith medalist in Byron Pickett (dumbasses :p).

Wow, that was a mouthful. Two sentences in that whole block of writing.

Had to take a couple breaths!

Agree with most of the stuff about Port not getting much press though.

I had a comma in each one which is a half breathe and brackets which are thoughts, but yes can tend to ramble with a few drinks in me.

Haha, lighten up. I was taking the piss.

Your comment was accurate and amusing.

These Port barrackers are a bit sensitive man.

They'll work with you when you get your frequent miles up.

flynn will be a gun!

Those are some pretty good highlights for an international player in his first year of footy, I think if he's willing to stick it out he will definitely make it & with his skill set could actually be a pretty dangerous player.

What I like most - besides how quick he is - is that he's got the run & bounce timing down pact, not sure if he's been called 'too far' often but in those highlights he knows when he needs to bounce before he gets penalised.

Some of those end to end runs are incredible, could be a real weapon off half back for us in the future given our game style.

I think he got pulled up the Sturt game, ran an absolute mile. I thought it was a bit strange though because in Gaelic footy the ball has to be bounced (or toed) every four steps*, so you would think if anything he'd be bouncing the ball more than he needs to! Would love to see his reaction when he kicks a goal!

*Can't be bounced twice consecutively, but can be toed as often as you like!

He's explosive, crazy quick and powerful. Once he learns the art of steadying himself after one of those runs, he will be a real weapon carrying the ball into forward 50. His skills at other times are clearly more than acceptable. Very exciting prospect - imagine him charging through the centre square in front of 50,000 at AO.

The scariest thing about those runs is I'm pretty sure he gained a couple of kilos back in Ireland, compared to what he looked like after the preseason.
