I'm a massive rap for Tredders the player and the man, but not so much the speaker. For mine McLeod's speech was far more touching.
If you bothered to watch that far. I turned off after Tredders.

I love Tredders, I really do. But the more I have heard him speak in recent years, the less inclined I am to defend him against people's perceptions of his arrogance. It's never bothered me, personally. He will always be a major hero of mine, but I get how it is that opposition supporters and the wider footy public have not been endeared by him.

Tredders is an ambitous driven individual on either side of the line. if wimps cant handle his blunt honesty then bad luck as far as Im concerned.

That's him. He worked and worked to become what he was, surrounded by so many talented lairs. And that caused tensions between him and them. If you hear him often enough he has stories from back when he was 16/17 about being disturbed by unprofessional players around him at Port. He'd bust his guts getting fitter, more skilful like a Craig Bradley or a Michael Voss. Meanwhile others were fishing together or out on the town. The nadir I know about was Nick Stevens and Brent Guerra out on the town together the night before the 2003 Sydney QF. That's why Tredders is in the Hall of Fame while the hugely talented Nick Stevens had a failed career and is now coaching Glenelg.

In the week leading up to that game Nick Stevens was given a role by Choco to run with and negate one of Sydney's midfielders (I can't recall who that was though). It was evident very early on that Nick was having none of that.

At the Prelim, 2 weeks later, all the Collingwood supporters were creaming themselves saying "we'll have him". One Port supporter near me responded with "I don't care where he goes as long as he isn't at my club next year"

You would hate how Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Roger Federer talks.

Yep, I have always thought that Federer's humility is overstated. Humility is shown in defeat and victory. IMO Federer has historically not been humble or gracious in defeat, but I'm in a minority who think that.
I totally agree with you, federer is a champion but not a humble one , nadal is gracious in victory and defeat, that to me is a true champion ,and most people like humble champions

It works both ways. Jordan and LeBron are extremely arrogant. But they are arrogant because they know they are/were the best players in the league and so they play like they are the best.

I think Tredders falls into the same category.

I was over there for that Prelim. Prick Stevens was utterly ineffectual, a dismally disloyal goodbye game. That was the game that has been commented on in a few threads here recently, where the Collingwood fans jeered and harangued the Port fans out of the ground afterwards.

I'm a big fan of all of those guys but I have to say MJ seems pretty arrogant and not really a nice person. His hall of game speech was slightly cringeorthy. People love to bag at lebron but he's actually not too bad. Federer seems like a bit of a bad loser but a very gracious winner. Speaking of the greatest the one I probably admire the most was Schumacher. He was arrogant and he would win at all costs but what you saw was what you got. A true professional that knew he was the best at what he did

I'd like to think that all the names on the boards behind them have been temporarily replaced with decoys. And that when the Cows enhance the vision they will be sending their scouts to northern Iraq, or trying to hunt down the elusive Patrick Catboy.

Scharenberg and I thought I saw a 'Wallis' as well.

... and most of Richmond's youngsters ;)

I think Warren misplaced a comma in his intro. Reminded me of the old Benny Hill line, what's that on the road, a head?
