Positives:
+ Hurn leading from the front with an excellent game, could to be an AA in 2018
+ JD was brilliant (took 11 marks - equal career best)
+ Nic Nat/Slyce combination is the best in the comp
+ Gaff was great - our best mid
+ Jetta played really well
+ Nic's Mark
+ Ryan was great
+ Waterman did well
+ Masto had a good game, no HTB calls.
+ Barrass and Gov did well
+ DV with 3 goals
+ Willie got through unscathed - no goals, but his presence and elite skills were great to watch.
+ LeGod's game was poetry in motion
+ Shep was great
+ Yeo was great
+ Midfield overall was quiet, but we still won disposals, CPs, clearances and tackles
+ Young forwardline gelled brilliantly together
+ Our defence was excellent

Negatives:
- Duggan was hot and cold, needs better consistency
- Nelson was great defensively, but could've been involved more on the attack

Really stoked to see lycett get a coupla snags - for us to run with 2 rucks we need him to kick goals - and he does. People forget this too easily.

Palpable excitement when the ball is in our forward line

When jk gets back there is more than one target. AND we have spent the last how ever many weeks kicking to them = hopefully we are more unpredictable and less kick it to kennedy centric.

Got a win in melb - next a good win at the g please

Negs - our small forward excitement machines have a lot of fitness work to do.

All the kids were a big positive.
Lycett was much better today.
The def was also a lot better.

Duggan had a nearly game I thought. Backing him in to come good.

I'd just like to say this

Gaff lead the Contested disposal count today with 13.

Andrew. Gaff.

Too many positives to list, really. But a few that stood out to me...
  • Le Cras has started the season a man possessed. Looks like he knows his career is on the line and he's fighting hard for it.
  • Lycett looked a lot better this week and a couple of goals will do his confidence the world of good.
  • Venables showed pretty clearly why we rated him above SPP. Incredibly clean and a very quick turn of pace.
  • Ryan is elusive and will provide plenty of highlights for us to enjoy over the years.
  • Masten and Nelson played their roles well and deserve to keep their spots.
  • Jetta played an excellent game, as did the entire half back line really, as Hurn was probably BOG and Sheppard superb in the air.
  • Barrass was excellent. Enough said.
  • Darling would have won a lot of fans today, he's led the attack well over the past two weeks. Was a colossus today.
  • Yeo's disposal was as good as I've ever seen it today, some excellent kicks.
  • Rioli getting through the game without injury was a huge plus.

Huge positive is they are sharing the goals around in the forward line while Kennedy is not there. When Kennedy comes back we must continue to not be one man centric. These next few weeks are invaluable for this group without JK there.

Only real negative for me is still centre bounce downs, the amount of times NN knocks it ether where our players aren’t or where they should be really annoys me. It is just dumb and at this level it should not be happening. With our ruck dominance we of course won’t win every clearance but way to many we seem to knock directly to our opponents. Some work still to do in this area and hopefully Sam Mitchell is helping them fix this.

Great day for the club today.

I bash Hurn probably more than anyone since he was first made captain, as i don't rate him as a leader. But he needs to be commended on today's game, he set the tone.

Being so lethal by foot put the bulldogs on the backfoot right from the get go. Without Simmo there, it was important.

Good to see we smacked a team in contested possessions for once. Other than that, our fast transitions are a joy to watch. Helps that we have more dynamic players in there and our skill level was damn good today too. Interested to see how Ah Chee could add to the dynamic style too.

Hurn was in beast mode early. So damaging. Set the tone and said "come with me, boys". At his absolute best.

I didnt watch the game. How did we win so easily with all our mids down? Who made all the play?

Our mids were not terrible they were solid without starring, they still gave us plenty of supply which was encouraging. Lots of work to do still but they were far from average.
