Felt like a bit of a nothing game really. The young players weren't really given chances to shine through the middle. Made it pretty boring.
Hough the main positive for me. Becoming a real interceptor down back and starting to really fill out. Was the clear stand out for me today.
Would also add that Allen and B Williams both fought back to contribute in spite of losing their positions (pretty soundly at times). That's good to see.

I was completely wrong, I thought he'd be subbed on at quarter time
Pretty ugly game.
Got bullied by a professional, battle-hardened team but fought back.
Game was typified by coughing up an easy, unnecessary goal in the last seconds through a poor centre cross.
I would like to be convinced that Chesser is not a waste of a high pick but I am just not seeing it atm.
Doesn’t seem to have any special attributes, and looks like he wants to avoid contact and the ball.

Went back with the flight in the last and got Balta'd tbf.
I like Chesser's verve through traffic and willingness to try to absorb contact. There's plenty to work with there but he's nowhere near the finished product yet.
**** i hate richmond, everytime they took an opportunity to 'hurt' the oppo, they did it.
How that campaigner vlastuin didnt give away a free let alone a report for intentionally falling on Allen and elbowing his head is beyond me.

Big negative....our midfield
For some reason I went to this game. Score board looks better than usual, but still looked horrible live.
I don't know whether we've got a lot of dumb players, but I do know that at least with have a lot of players currently making lots of dumb decisions. I lost count of the amount of times a player with forward momentum and space would handball to a stationary player facing the wrong way, or about to be tackled, or just generally in a worse position than the player with the ball. Infuriating.
We also got absolutely flogged in the ruck and at ground level, particularly in the middle. Felt like our main game plan was kick long to a pack. But we lost it at ground level every frik'n time.
The worse part is, this is not that far of what we could conceivably call a full strength team. Barass, McGovern, Hurn, Duggan, Cole down back. Shuey, Kelly, Sheed, Gaff in the middle. Allen, Darling, Cripps up forward. That's too many senior players to be putting up this against 14th at home.

I really dislike Richmond and their fans, they can get in the bin.
Wasn’t as fun as the St Kilda effort, but at least it wasn’t a blowout.
Really wish senior players would stop making such horrible clangers.
Be nice if coffee & hot drinks were easier to get in winter without being turned away after half time.
Hough was good, SPS very clean, Chesser ran hard, Gaffy had that good contest pon the wing, Oscar came back from the dead to kick 3, Darling with 500.
Only 6 more to go.

+ Stat's were remarkably even other than efficiency inside 50 despite the unending litany of fumbles and brainfarts. Actually not sure if that is a positive?
Kelly was our best, Hough was good again and Tommy Cole was steady. Most others had a sprinkling of good and bad efforts.

Honestly dont know what to make of SPS.
None of his posessions were clean, often 2 to 3 takes to gain posession...fumbly...worse than captain fumbles.

TBF to Chesser, he got shoved and pushed by McIntosh all day. Felt bad for him at the game because it was very obvious. But it’s a big boys game so he will need to just absorb that experience and get on with it.
Hough was the stand out.
So sick of watching Barrass jog half arsed after his opponent. He is a one trick pony, and it’s a good trick, but if he flies for a mark and doesn’t clunk it, that’s it. He is on the ground and spends a long time getting up. If Sydney offer a first round pick I’ll drive him to the airport.

That first half of footy was as ugly as a shitty wet weather game between two bottom of the ladder teams....only it was pretty perfect conditions

I am in Perth at the moment and went to the game, and it really did feel like a 60-70 point belting. The fitness throughout the club is a disgrace. Fitness of the players was an issue in 2020 yet it is still occurring in 2023. If you can't / won't do a full preseason leave the club.
On the plus side we make excellent egg fried rice.Big negative....our midfield
Older players shouldered the load as expected, kids are growing. Hough the best. Chesser is coming on well, a tough kid. Merit to the others in patches.
Fought the game out with flat patches against real class.
We just lack speed and class. While we lack fitness its quality speed (DNA) thats missing most. We can only draft or trade it it.

Kids continue to show promise.
Credits crew continue to be exposed for lack of both pace and defensive skills.
Destroyed on scores from stoppage again (like every game this season), but did well to beat Richmond in scores generated from turnover, a team that has long specialised in scoring through that means.
A game that would be very forgettable for any neutrals. Both teams executed poorly and made a lot of mistakes under little pressure.
Match was lost on the scoreboard in 5 minutes of play that conceded 6 goals immediately before and after half time.
Bad decision-making and disposal moving into attack prevented the team from making this a much closer result.
There remains no hard edge to this team. By the end I was infuriated that Balta was able to roam and mark with so much confidence. He should have been flattened in a contest during the first quarter - make him fear that another hit might be coming, rather than allowing front position every time.
After he almost put his knee through Chesser's throat (in a fair contest, without malice), still nobody came over to sit him down for lining up a young player.
Small improvements, but a hell of a long way still to go.
