Re: does lloyd have grounds for legal action

I don't think may people are expecting that he will get off. I just hope the MRP are not as reactive as these Hawthorn supporter on here. Unfortunately, in the wake of the Buddy decision, there can be no way in hell he can escape suspension.

Atkinson could be in trouble too.

I have every confidence that the MRP will review the Bump independently and in isolation to all the hysteria and last weeks verdict

I did not see the Atkinson incident, however I did see Ryders strike on Hodge and that too will draw some attention

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

Quartermain should be embarrassed to pick up his pay check after his performance on Saturday.

Very unprofessional. Think he will look back on this game as a low point of his commentary career.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

The commentary of Quartermain on the passage of play that involved Atkinson scoring a goal on the run whilst being tackled by Rioli was so blatantly biased. Quatermain was pleading for the free kick to be paid when he should have been focusing on what an excellent team goal Atkinson was finishing off.

"RAN HIS FULL MEASURE SURELY?!?!" :D:D:D:D

Think he was gonna say he ran 30 meters, before saying the kick went 30 meters...

Re: does lloyd have grounds for legal action

Contact to the head = trouble.. whether its intentional or not is irrelevant.

The fact that Sewel was knocked out cold doesn't help Lloyds case.

If this is Lloyd's final season it would be a shame to end his career with a suspension when his young team is playing in their first final in 5 years.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

And, when we were winning, frequent reminders about how many players were on the Hawks' interchange bench.

Re: does lloyd have grounds for legal action

Campbell Brown has been told to make no further comment (ostensibly by his clubs lawyers).
However, this is something new to me. I don't remember any player going on air after an incident on the field to attack someone in the opposing team. Footy players have a tradition to leave on the field what happens on the field.

It pales into insignificance to Sheedy's allegations in 1984 that Hawthorn were sniffing drugs at games.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

Listened to the MMM commentary while at the game. Bloody awesome to listen to. Haven't watched the replay, but hopefully I can get a copy of the MMM feed and run it in sync with the game.

Love listening to MMM when Lyon, Taylor and Brayshaw are commentating. Seriously good entertainment.

I like the fact that they stated that Lloyd needed to have an effect on the game and he did just that.

I don't think the Channel 10 commentators gave enough creedence for some of our guys backing into packs and keeping their heads over the ball after the incident.

Living in Adelaide, I didn't think the commentating was too bad - used to a lot worse I guess (if you've heard 5AA or receive one paragraph a week on the Bombers in the State's biggest paper, you'd know where I'm coming from).

Re: does lloyd have grounds for legal action

And the individuals he named were??

The allegations were levelled at all players and the club. He nearly got sacked for it and if it was said today, Essendon would be taken to court.

Wait...

Lower than when a drunk Judd made a fool of him on footy's night of nights?

Lower than when he called "and Steven Milne silences his critics" when Milne goaled a week after the sexual misconduct allegations were made against him?

Worst in the business.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

Could you imagine what they would've been like if they were commentating this?

Btw, see how Lloyd is the only one going for the ball? Look at Hunter's eyes. Look at Lloyd and not the ball.

I remember that vividly. The worst part is how he is out of it before even hitting the ground and just sort of floats to the ground.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

Only commentator to cop persistent club bias was Eddie Maguire and he wasn't even that bias. Apart from calling a tarrant mark before he even got off the ground, and a few minor things, he was one of the best going round.

Of the names mentioned from the channel 10 commentary ... there's only Tim Lane (one of the best radio commentators ever who unfortunately has adopted a bit of an egotistical personna since going on tv) and Christian. Christian i can take in moderation and if put amongst the likes of domineering commentators like BT and JB you wouldn't think he's that bad.

Walls is shocking and Quarterbrain is a tool. Huddo, although not too biased, is just plain irritating as well. But they cut him didn't they?

Hope Channel 9 get their finances sorted for the next few years so they can bid for the next package of media rights.

Re: Channel 10 Commentary

In fairness, Walls did concede to praise Hurley. Under his breath. During an ad break. With the mic turned off.

With a Hawthorn fanatic and proven Bomber hater in the box, what do you expect?

Re: What I have learnt this year

Daniher could well be a Hurley for us in terms of playing down back and up forward. Obviously not as talented but it gives us immense flexiblity if we can do that.

Always Forward: Neagle, Gumbleton
Always Back: Pears, Hooker

Rotating: Hurley, Daniher

Gumby might end up being our CHF and Hurley our CHF. Just need to throw them around a bit as they develop and see what happens.

Because we have a final to worry about.

Geez Ben you sound like a coach or something. It's a bit of harmless fun.

Re: What I have learnt this year

I think if there is a message that the football Gods are throwing at us this season, it's pretty obvious - put faith in the kids!

The best part of the season, is that unlike some other teams, we havnt been carried or our improvement hasnt come from our senior players.

It is all about the youth and development.

In so many areas, the sky is the limit.

First, our backline for the future has absolutely taken shape this season with Pears surpassing all expectations. On Anzac day our hearts sank with Hille, then Ryder steps up and takes the bull by the horns. Then look at the past couple of weeks - we went from our forwardline going forward being an area of concern, for Hurley to spring out of nowhere (as a forward) and show that it isnt outside of the realms of possibility that he is the best young forward prospect in the league.

The improvement we can make going forward is very exciting.

Essendon Hawthorn Game

On ya Essendon

I am very proud of my football club this week. The contrast between the behaviour of the Essendon and Hawthorn football
clubs has been displayed for all to see.

(I saw Hutchy play)
