IMHO it's a dangerous game to plan to use the Sub strategically, as in to use Dids as an impact introduction later in the game due to his fitness. Or, start him and then plan to sub him out mid-way through the game, etc, etc. The starting 22 must be fit enough to see the whole game through. Similarly, the Sub must also be fit enough to play an entire game. You have to assume that the Sub will be used early in the game due to unforeseen injury. If this doesn't happen (ie. early injury) the coach then has the luxury of making a tactical substitution later on the in the game.
As much as I'd love to see Dids strutting his stuff around the ANZ, if he can't run out a game then I'm affraid he should be wrapped up for GF :D

It'll be interesting what we do if Dawes misses. I say straight swap with Ceglar who is the best option to fill the role Dawes fills in the side. I don't think playing Paine and using a tweener in Maxwell to ruck (it would probably be Goldsack this week) worked last time. It is asking for a spanking in the ruck against a quality clearance side and we simply can't afford to take the risk. And I would prefer to avoid bringing in another tall at a smalls expense in final with the sub rule. If Didak misses I am torn between Clarke and Sinclair. I think I would chance Clarkes form because I think he is better player and they have both been a out of touch recently.

I bring great news.

Umpire Schmitt has been dropped this week. :)
He's the emergency though, so please, if you see any of the other umpires prior to the game please treat them nicely.:p

Lucky it's in Sydney otherwise we'd have to tell Dave to be on his best behaviour :thumbsu:

Following on from Quickys comments, it would seem most unlikely that Didak will play.
I am trying to make a case for Clarke and Sinclair, with Seedsman as the outsider. I cannot split the two former, i guess Marty hasnt played in a while, Sinclair has the edge in pace and is a lesser kick.
I have come down to the role Bucks might want most, more as a back half defensive mid or a tackling/ pressuring forward.
As it stands now i am leaning toward Sinclair. Best we can hope he can tie up a running defender ( Shaw?), lay a few tackles in the forward 50 and manage a goal.

Because the alternative is Jolly plays 90% of the game in the ruck, gets tired in the 4th quarter and struggles to get up for next week.
If Wood plays Jolly will be able to sleep all next weekend.

I don't like Wood either but it's the best move imo.

If we had a gun forward to come in for Dawes it would be worth rolling the dice on a solo Jolly, but Paine hasn't shown he can run out a game yet, let alone a final.

Looks like we've already made the decision to go solo if Dawes doesn't get up, I hope it works out.

I see Elliot in that role with one of Clarke or Siclair the likely sub. I wouldn't have thought a cork would stop Didak from playing if he did all the recovery stuff correct. But i'm probably being naive.

It's not that I don't like Wood, but he has failed to cut it, barring one sole game, in the regular season, what makes you think he will perform in a final?

Every now and then ( about once a year) Wood plays an inspired game, and nothing can inspire you like playing in a final. Doesn't mean it will, of course, it would be a big risk. Might be worht the risk though since there's a bigger risk that Jolly will be knackered by GF if he solos this week.

Does anyone give Adelaide a chance against Hawthorn? Everyone assuming if we beat Sydney it'll be the Hawks in the GF.

In 24 hours I'll be on a plane to Sydney as our army moves North, can't wait.:)

As for the game, it seems as if Didak isn't going to play, which is a shame as it means both Sinclair and Elliott will play, and that just makes us a little bit weaker IMO.

We can win, but just like every time we seem to play this mob it will be a close, lower scoring game, and the fact there's a grand final place on the line means it will be even more hard fought than ever.

Sydney should beat us, let me put that out there, the 6 day vs 14 day break is a massive advantage, but overall we are the better side, and we are not playing them at home, we are playing them on a neutral ground, it just happens to be about 30 minutes away from their home ground, which at least brings them back to us a bit.

I think we'll win, I've been positive all year, so why would I change now, and if we do the Hawks may just shake a little in their boots, because there's no doubt they'd prefer to play the Swans than us, despite beating us three times this year already (as strange as that sounds).

GO PIES.:thumbsu:

Everything has to go right.

Adelaide needs to play their best game of the year, especially Tippett, and Hawthorn needs to be off by about 10% or more, with a few injuries early sprinkled in.
