Why are people still suggesting Menzel in ?? Have they not seen him play
Because playing in front of 15 cars parked on a hill is hardly comparable to a 50000 rabid anti Dangerfield supporters.

C'mon we pursued him knowing full well his limitations. If we wait for him to BOG out in the SANFL we may be in for some disappointment. What the hell are we waiting for!!!

"Mackay is a huge loss for Adelaide".

:drunk:
Bickley is a remnant of the old AFC school of selection. Mackay has been having a decent year, and worthy of being in the team in my opinion, but he's by no means a "huge loss".

Re: Menzel, what was CC like in the SANFL? Was he tearing it up every week? Wondering if Menzel may play better on the big stage
Better than Menzel has been. Troy did look set for a good game before being concussed, which set him back.

I realise Menz may be a player who rises to the level but he really hasn't looked as good as most of us would've expected.

Don't think Menzel will be getting a run this week, His Minutes were not managed at SANFL level like Lyon and VB's were.

Also didn't some one say that only Lyon, Milera and Vb were in the main session last night at training, and Menzel, CEY ect were just running laps?

Any way For mine it would be In: Milera, Out: Mookay, But for some reason I have a feeling Lyon is going to get a shot but not sure for who.

Hopefully D-Mac is fit... so that he can be dropped

U guys are ridiculous. Makay has been very good so far this year. You don't drop him just because we lost, you drop those out of form or that don't fit team balance. At present we have no run and carry so we need Makay until we replace our slow plodders in the middle with this type of player

Not sure which team you've been watching, but we have a whole stack of run and carry, we just got polaxed at the contest.

MacKays pathetic effort to tackle Stringer which sparked their first quarter run, is the kind of play that caused many to want him gone

Kelly if he's right for Cheney (he's shithouse)
Lyons in for Mackay (injured)
Milera in for McGovern (rest)

Cheney is the weakest link. Multiple games his defensive pressure has cost us goals in vital situations. It's only due to injury he's held his spot. Time has run out for him.
The weather won't suit Gov. Will be slippery conditions. I love him and he has a spot but will suit midfielders more than tall forwards.

The weather report is looking quite good for Friday evening 22degrees during the day and clear. The Gov will be on fire!

Mackay hasn't been sh*t this year. But he has shown time and time again that he has a ceiling, and can never go beyond that. We know exactly what he can offer and he can't ever give more than that. There are always players like that, but when we have other much younger players like Lyons, Knight, Ellis-Yolmen, Grigg - whose ceilings we have no idea about because they can't get a decent crack - not getting games it's a bit disappointing.

Well, despite many on BF having certain dislikes which, at times, border on the ridiculous, against a number of players, I place much higher value on the opinion of a former player, captain and coaching member that any of the hacks here.

It's always easy to sit on the sidelines and fire potshots at all and sundry.

Are the alternatives going to be any better, in fact, does Adelaide have any alternatives. Wishful thinking is not an alternative.

Don Pyke is about Team Football. Last Saturday, a number of players had subpar games. Despite that, the team almost snatched it.

That makes no sense, seeing it's very unlikely that seeing public statements media people make are detached from reality a bit.

For instance Bicks is going to say Mackay is a big loss as he doesn't want to put the club off-side, and therefore limit the possibility of interviews etc. We have form as well.

Love Shooter but have a feeling we may see,

IN: Wayno and Menzel
OUT: McGovern and Mookay

Pretty hopeful for Troy if this happens though.
This is exactly what I would do. Menzel is known as a big game player and Gov was lost last week. Having his brother out there would have to drive him to his best as well.

All Geelong's planning would be around a forward line with Gov in it. Big game let's do something unpredictable and unbalance them

Wouldn't be unhappy with that but still think Lyons deserves his spot back with Mackay out. The midfield misfired so surely he gets rewarded. Menzel I really think we need to see him at the top level at some stage but is it this week? Probably not. McGovern may need a week off as a reminder of whats required to keep your place in the team and as a freshen up.

McDermott was a former player, Captain and coached. What do you think of him?

Just because they have played and coached doesn't actually mean their opinions are any good. Otherwise any past player should automatically be a great coach, just like Voss, Hird and Buckley.

Bicks wanted DMack back for the finals last year just because he was a senior player, how did that work out?

Bickley also wanted Atkins dropped a month ago and replaced by Hendo.

I rest my case.
