Nothing smug about the point I made. The way our club is run very much reflects the thought process of a number of our supporters on BF & TalkingCarlton. As soon as enough noise is made, the club blinks. The club needs to have a plan & stick to it, no matter how much noise is being made.

It is very fortunate for Cats supporters that Frank Costa didn't blink when the noise supporters were making early in the 2007 season made some of the board jittery at the time.

In the last 26 years we have sacked 5 coaches (it will soon be six) & yet we only have one premiership to show for this. How many times do you keep changing your jockey, before you realise that maybe the horse is the problem?
I think Richmond had 12 coaches in the time Sheedy was at *.

I was three quarters of the way to Etihad when they announced Cripps wasn't playing... I turned the car around and went home. Honestly couldn't work out what else would make me want to watch... Frankly, I was so jacked at them dropping Graham during the week and then bringing Ellard in when Cripps went down that I just couldn't stand it.

I'm a member. They have my money. They're not giving me anything to support.

We aren't Geelong.

MM's current situation is miles off Thompson's 2006 as well.

Ratten's 2012 would be similar but we sacked Ratten.

You can't blame the supporters for Carlton's own insipidness. We didn't cheat the salary cap, laugh at the draft and appoint MM.

MM can piss right off after he brought in Ellard over Graham.

Just over 3 years ago we were flag favorites with this team against collingwood... Wtf happened

And therein lies the problem which confronts whoever coaches the club for the balance of 2015 & into 2016 & beyond & while some in this thread (not you) are trying to pin much blame on Stephen Kernahan, one of those who carries a lot of responsibility for where we have been for much of this century, is still actively involved with the club & continues to fly under the radar. Much of the issues we are currently facing pre-date the tenure of both Malthouse & Ratten & will not be able to be repaired overnight.

The club needs a board of independently wealthy people without ties to the Pratts and Mathiesons.

Good luck with that. It is no different to how so many were previously beholden to John Elliott. The big end of town associated with our club are almost incestuous in their links to one or the other.

The reality is the majority of Victorian based clubs are controlled by a handful of the wealthiest supporters however they fly under the radar while things are going well on the field, but all the power struggles come to the fore when things start going pear-shaped on the field hence my previous reference to the Cats circa 2007, when a certain local Ford dealer was being encouraged to take on Costa & his supporters. Fortunately any potential battle at board level was doused & the Cats were able to get on with the business of winning football games.

Watched the first half, then happily left home to go out. Which is usually out of character for me as I enjoy staying to the end.

The club thinks we have problems getting members now, they're going to be in for a rude shock next year.

My friend didn't re-sign as a member this year after being a member at the club for 35 years, do you know what he got? NOTHING, not even a phone call. The club is IMHO a rabble, from the ground up. If we don't do something about it we will quickly become like a Melbourne football club, irrelevant with no end in sight.

This isn't even close to rock bottom

Cripps was injured on Thursday @ training so you have to laugh at the fact he was even named in the team on Thursday night to begin with.

We are rubbish.

Malthouse is a rubbish coach who is passed his use by date.

1. Let the best small forward in the game leave
2. He brought in Dale Thomas on huge money who does nothing
3. Recruited Liam Jones
4. Picks Graham as sub gives him 1 quarter then drops him the following week

I could go on and on this guy has done nothing positive for our club all he does is blow smoke up his own arse saying how his lack of contract will distract the players ect ect

G'day guys,

I just want to say that it just doesn't feel right to see what I regard as a manufactured team in GWS beat great foundational clubs like Carlton and Hawthorn.

I know its a new world. Its harsh but I just see them as more an organisation than a team. An organisation with what looks like a Telco logo on its jumper. A lot of Don's fans would be gloating over Carlton's loss but I actually felt sad.

Someone else said it... The Giants can basically field a full side of top 10 picks. And they are only going to get better over the next couple of years. The AFL will be also tossing GC17 a couple of helping hands to try and get them moving back up the ladder I think.

The state of the league is a shocker all thanks to that useless fat prick Vlad... his ego could end up costing the league some clubs.

That is some serious fantasy bullshit right there. What we did was win three games in a row. Happened to occur at the start of the season. Apart from that we were not any closer to a premiership than at any other point since 1995.

One thing I can tell you though. After that three game period all the website and traffic metrics were 'off the roof'.

A tiny bit of success exposed a mass of support.

But we lost again and the support moved away as quick as it came.

We have an enormous reserve of support in waiting.

Sad thing is it will be waiting. Our support will actually not support us but follow us.

Will be great when it happens, but the supporters will have little to do with it, will have to come from somewhere else.
