Harry is a very good mark.

All good I thought.

Not sure what’s happ to langers and stringer last 2 weeks.

Just not our night. Tsatas might be another player that needs full minutes not good as a sub. Perhaps Shiel would have been better selection today. Idk.

Carlton better but we got within 15 points. Onto next game.

I just don't see any fight in him, just doesn't look up for it anymore. Hope you're (W)right

Yeh, to me it looks like he's still a bit spooked by the suspension, and i don't blame him, it would make you a bit cautious in the contest and you wouldn't want to risk another accidental play. Maybe a better way was to give him some time in the VFL and slowly bring him back to form, but i understand, the pressure on coaches is to have your seasoned players available and there are limited ruck options etc. the thing is, with Wright you could do that because we have Jones, Cox and Caddy that we could bring in the meantime..[says this in a jobe watson voice, lol].

I reckon the team needs to go ten pin bowling or play putt putt. Such messy heads the last two weeks. Hunter has become the hunted and everyone needs to just relax a bit, kick some goals and do some high fives.

If you think we are a top 4 team and you want a flag this year you’d be flat.

If you think this is a positive stepping stone year on the way to being properly good 2026-2030, I think you can sleep well.

Awful choice as sub. Can't expect a young inexp player to have an impact coming into a game like that.

Put the kid under the bus.

This is what I like about this evolution of EFC. The 2018-2022 team gets blown out of the water when Carlton get rolling. We fought till the end and that alone is a big sep forward for me

It is not all doom and gloom. I’m taking some comfort in the fact that many of our players performed below expectations and our forward line seems a bit dysfunctional right now (and not to mention inefficient in front of goals). If we can tidy it up a bit and get some confidence in the the marking forwards and get a couple of small forwards whizzing around at their feet and kicking straight we beat Carlton.
Yup.. It’s never as good or as bad as it seems.

I think there’s coaches putting work into us and basically putting the pincers on us on the half forward flank. Was our Achilles heel last year when we couldn’t take a mark between half back and goal, and it’s still weak. They’re putting bigger defenders on Langford to curtail his marking, which is working. So the coach is being tested on that front.

Depleted midfield, depleted spine… just not enough clean users left to transition it at the moment. Like we miss Redman, Parish and Draper in particular. The structure falls apart without those three, even if they’re not the best users themselves they free up others to do the things. Injuries happen, and when they do your list management is put to the test.

only highlight of the night was some crone getting pissy with me because i described our performance as ****ing pathetic.

not much to say. playing players out of position isn’t good for them, who knew!

why was hind in f50 for a chunk of the game, we needed his run out of the backline. lots of questions to be asked. lots of players who deserve be in the firing line

I thought we looked better with Harry up there as the main man, a better dynamic.
Yep, should have had 2mp follow TDK everywhere and Jones in the square. Goldy centre bounce only then move forward.

Get Hayes or Roberts in and keep Martin forward, He single handedly got us back in the game.

Not unexpected loss but super frustrating. On our day we will get them.

Same deal as last week, but it hurts way more losing to the Blues than it does losing to Gold Coast.

Thank **** for the bye. Hope we come out breathing fire after it and torch the Eagles at Marvel.

We won’t torch anything

Oh is that why the ball looked like it had no air in it each time he kicked?

Yeah, he had some clangers but this loss is on our senior players.
I know. Not saying he's responsible for the loss, he's just an atrocious player on the evidence so far. It's low hanging fruit, admittedly.

Merrett was very bad tonight, not only getting tagged out but not following his opponent in defence and coughing up two goals that swung momentum.

Footy is strange.

We probably should have been ahead at quarter time and level pegging ish at 3 quarter time, from there anything is possible. We didn’t execute well at all but I wouldn’t have thought Carlton would say they did either to be honest. Just went in harder.

But at the same time, worrying trend for us is that when the ball gets a bit greasy, we aren’t clean enough to play to our strengths, or for the most part, hard enough to win the slog.

Haven’t been playing well for a good 6 week period now.

He was good in the VFL a few weeks ago. Finds the pill lots. Needs VFL time though, not physically ready.

Reminds a lot like Pee Wee Herman atm.

We were only down 15 at the start of the 4th. Grinded our way back into the game and if Carlton is top 2 level than we are nowhere near as far off as people are saying. We got smashed in the middle, TDK played arguably the best game of his life and it makes it very hard for anyone to compete when you are on the backfoot constantly at clearances.

Agree with a lot of people re: Tsatas... Feel really bad for the kid because you can tell he is trying but he is not being set up for success at all with the way Scott is bringing him in as the sub with such little playing time.

Just a side note. Why the **** did they have fevola doing player introductions before the game, when it was an essendon home game. Serious wtf

For the same reason he promotes alcohol and gambling despite them ruining his life.

Throw money at him and he will do literally anything.
