A very frustrating game. We have the yips now in front of goal. Some very poor misses.
Been poor for a few weeks now, incredibly poor infront of goal
What was last week Langford, stringer and Martin? I think 0.10
This week that updates to
3.14
Just not good enough

Missing Draper's physicality.
Sure, he has many short comings but neither Todd nor Nick offer any form of mongrel guts that Drap does.

Nice to see Setters back, not a lot else to like tonight.

I said earlier, another marquee game and chance to prove ourselves. Another insipid pants shitting exercise.

I hate to say it, but if Neale Daniher coming to the club doesn't inspire you to give 100% balls'n'all (even if we lose) nothing will and you shouldn't be wearing the sash.

There is such a ridiculously low ceiling on this group because of the players we have, the least you could do is play players in the positions they excel at.

This has been an issue at Essendon over 5 coaches, it's bizarre and you wonder who actually pulls those strings, lol.
Let's turn a natural player in this position into a defender or put them out the on the wing etc as an experiment. Let's play our FF out of position etc.

Shows where we are at. The list still needs development and some personnel changes.
It was good to get a few wins but the reality is every week I say we lack genuine marking power forward of the footy. We have no crumbing small forwards. The ruck is an issue and we need a decent KPF .
Not a lot will change short term.
It is what it is.

All good to say "play the kids" but Scott has shown his hand when he went and got Goldstein (35), Gresham (25), Duursma (23) and McKay (25).

All mature, well established AFL level role players
I don't think Goldstein would have played as much if Draper was fit. McKay, Duursma aren't exactly over the hill. Gresham, I don't know, I guess he's been ok.
Kelly, Heppel, Laverde - some scope for shuffling there.
I'm not unhappy, just don't want to see us run out of gas as the second half of the season grinds on.

our effort is good, our execution is not. We know our inside 50s/ goals are always going to be average but our goal kicking can’t also be bad.

Should get duursma, Hobbs, redman, Draper back after the break and el hawli and caddy who both impressed In vfl today. Not saying play all but should have some pressure for spots

Kelly needs to be a back pocket or nothing.

Tsatas is not a sub or a winger. I got told he’s only played 2 full games this season? Play him in the 2s in the mids for the entire game.

Wright needed to be better, I don’t expect him to pull down every mark but he was sometimes uncompetitive in the ruck and unbelievably fumbly the whole night.

If duursma is right we need to play him.
Gives us cover to move Martin around and keeps us from having to play Kelly and tsatas through wings

All in all good kicking is good football, our effort is undeniable but skill level is not.

Would you also say, we don't really have a genuine A-Grade running type, or do you think Merrett kind of fits that description.

First quarter misses on top of Carltons regular 6 freebies, hard to watch.
If we could actually pick a ball up in the centre we may have a chance of clearing it.
Caddy in, Jones to the wing is not exactly rocket science but, can someone pass it on to Supercoach and Staff.

I tipped us to lose so it’s not surprising in that regard.

The hard thing to take is that we were so impotent up forward when we were generally taking it up to the Blues around the ground. If we were efficient in the forward 50 we win. It’s a lost opportunity. We had the measure of Cripps and Walsh. Neither had much influence on the outcome. We let ourselves down rather than Carlton tearing us apart. There’s positives in that, but at the end of the day it’s about scoreboard pressure and we had none of that all game.

We could use another for sure.

Just could not get space through the middle and life sucked out of us with those misses.

Gresham ok in the last but I think Davey adds more.
Based on what? Davey doesn't do half of what Gresham gave in the last quarter in an entire game.

Lock in a Sydney Carlton GF 🤢
Jesus don't ever say that again...
