Thought it would be interesting to review Franklin's career data (goals) against us since he had such a dominant run while at Hawthorn. It's interesting that the media (TV broadcaster) often still runs the same narrative despite it not really being a thing since his last big bag (6) against our top-up team in 2016. Even in 2014, his bag of 5 was inflated by a number of very dubious free kicks.

We held him to 0 in 2017 for the first time and from that point his avg. against Essendon has been 2.15 per game. At Hawks it was an intimidating 5 goals per game and from 2013 at Sydney for the duration it has been 2.9 goals per game against his career avg. (all opponents) of 3.10.

Sure the guy is declining (slowly) but I think we should also acknowledge that the stranglehold Lance "Buddy" Franklin once had over the Bombers seems to now be a thing of the past.

Michael Hartley, the only Bomber to keep Buddy goalless

Good win. Swans poor goal kicking and our inefficiencies and dumb decisions (mostly through inexperience I think) balanced out and the right result seemed to happen.

There’s so much angst in here but for me, I have no issue with what Parker did. He’s right and I wish our club had the leadership and culture where we actually would go when it was our turn and gave a shit. We have been psychological pygmies for too long.

I congratulated Parker on his 250th in his player thread.

They weren't keen to hear it over there.

Emotional damage mate

Swannies fans love giving it, can rarely take it.

I can't help thinking that Sydney's poor goal kicking papered over a lot of cracks in our game.

I did like that we fought back on a number of occasions when I think a month or so back we'd have just rolled over.
Have to agree with this.

A fun win for obvious reasons, but I'm not sure there is as much to take away from it as you'd normally hope from a win against a top eight side.

The young players are good (which I'd hope we knew already) and we can move the ball ok. But we still look too easy to score against when a team gets an uncontested marking chain going. Regardless of whether it's a slow or fast build-up.

Yep. The Happy Clappers are up and about.

It was a good win but we were lucky that they squandered chances and we were surprisingly accurate. Don't forget it was looking like a carbon copy of most of our other games at QT. Then 12-23 scoring shots at 3QT.

Good win, but let's not get carried away with where we are in the context of the season.

Is this post sarcastic?
Mills was almost unsighted, Heeney similarly, but still "won" a few free kicks in a way that would have made Weightman proud. Papley's kicking for goal is what started the rot for them and if he converted those three easy set shots it probably would have been a very different game.

"Extreme weather conditions", clearly was watching it on TV while in NSW. not a breath of air at the G

Agreed, but the same could be said about us against the Eagles last weekend. Should've won with the amount of i50s and scoring shots we had. I think a 2-1 record over the last 3 weeks of football (against two top 8 sides) is a fair result for the level of football we've displayed.

For the 6 set shots they missed we easily had 5 chances to hit an open forward in the time but kicked it straight to them and allowed the rebound.
We created their scoring opportunities by totally missing forward options.

The other point if Sydney goal and we win the next clearance then there is no repeat entry into the forward 50 like there was on a few of the behinds.

As for those saying let’s not get too excited. No one is getting too far in front of themselves. It was a good win. We got ourselves back into the game before their run of behind’s and the coaches changed the defensive set up to help stop the leaks.
We got burnt a few times by the forwards not reacting and allowing the Swans defenders to run fat side but it was also some very poor skill / decision errors that allow them to transition the footy.

We have played a lot better in the last 3 weeks. Some of you need to stop sucking lemons for breakfast. It is good to have a win and enjoy it even if we are a bottom 6 side .

After being on the wrong side of obscenely accurate goal kicking from WCE - and from memory ANZAC Day was the same - it was nice to have it go our way.
