Teams disappoint, sometimes it's because you weren't good enough. I found your comparison of the GWS v Sydney game was silly. GWS played out of their skin against a side who would have taken them very easily. There is no way we would have taken WB easily, they are not a bottom side who have played well this year.

We struggled as our midfield got killed, we have a very average KPD and KPF who is as soft as butter. We produced a lot of clangers under the pressure they imposed, exactly what we did last year.

Maybe we were seduced by the good start and we still have many weaknesses to overcome.
Of course we weren't good enough on the night.

But making broad sweeping statements based on a fallacy doesn't mean anything. There are a number of results we can look at which will also be dismissed 'exceptions to the rule'.

We need to address the application and determination. The fight to the end attitude and address the composure under pressure. Our stuff-ups became a self fullfilling prophecy. We need the resilience to back up a clanger with backing yourself in and executing with confidence. Also backing up your team mate and providing options.

These areas need addressing. I expect the players to respond because those that don't will be playing a lot of SANFL as soon as some injuries heal.

We are not automatically going to change behaviours from last year over night. Elite standards do not mean you will be Elite everytime. What it means is you set a standard, and when you fall short you address issues rather than make excuses "no match up", "try telling him he's not playing", etc. You keep going until you become Elite and if you can't you make way for someone else.

The standards have been set. Let's see how the group responds to falling short.
