The MC will be sharpening their axe in response to last weeks disappointing result.Four changes, out Lobbe, Setters,LOB and Levi.
In Kruezer, Jack, Kennedy and Stocker. It would be a good opportunity to give Stocker a run before Willo, McCready and Lang become available.
I too have a feeling that Stocker will get picked this week.

When a team is confident and moving the ball they look quick. Look at the cheats. A couple of weeks ago they were accused of being the slowest midfield team in the comp. On the weekend they made Brisbane look pedestrian. Jones was brilliant on the weekend because he took chances, ran down the ground and made opportunities. I would be seriously tempted to play him at CHB and use this run and confidence. He showed the defenders what can be achieved if you apply yourself. Petrevski-Seeton was in and under and was everywhere on the weekend. If he can continue in this manner watch out, b/c you will see something special. The rest need to stop being afraid to fail. They have already done that, so they cannot go any lower. Start taking chances like Cripps and Walsh do.

A big yes to the bolded bit.

I think there's a real want to get Stocker in, but I don't think he's ready, personally.

I cant understand the enticement though. Maybe giving him a run with role would be beneficial? He's been playing in defence and they've talked about wanting to develop his defensive game. Give him a run on Bont, that will give him a lesson! Don't worry about getting the ball, just don't let this bloke out of your pocket. (note I wouldn't expect him to actually show down Bont, but the lesson would be enourmous. A young, big bodied mid playing on one of the best big bodied mids in the game would be a great lesson)

Playing a first-gamer in an unfamiliar role on possibly the most damaging player in the comp? Yeah nah.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time it's been done and given the current development plan for Stocker seems to be to grow defensively I don't see how it would be bad for him. He's already playing in unfamiliar positions and roles, this is just a continuation of that.

Where would the club play him though?
He's had next to no midfield minutes in the VFL, as it's all been in the back-half.

I wouldn't be surprised by anything, but where to play him?
Jack Ross had been training and playing midfield for The Tigers, got his chance and made good.

No doubt the CFC would like for such a fairytale story for Stocker also. I just don't see how and where he'd be utilised though.

He probably hasn't got the conditioning to run all day with Bont or just about anyone else. Stick him on the bench and play him in small doses.

I don't think we should play him defence at the moment, not because of him but because our defence seems really settled at the moment and is probably the strongest part of our team.

That's why I threw up maybe playing him as a tagger. It continues his defensive development and gets him in the team, if they really are that keen to get him in. Outside of that I agree with you, he's not been playing mid so there's no natural spot for him yet.

I think one of our biggest issues is having a lack of rebound out of defence. No prime movers and not enough good kicks. Needs to change, Stocker could bring it. Willo likely will in the near future.

He’s so much fitter this year. I think he can run out games now. He lacks the speed to break away on the spread. However, neither Bont nor Macrae are overly quick and I’d back him to stick with one of them. I think he’s the best tackler at the club. He would literally get 15 tackles tagging one of them. We can’t have these guys wander around on their own. They use the ball way too well and will slice us open.

Jack would pressure the hell out of them.

Just a thought.
Yeah Jack is really working his arse off, has been all pre season as well, I think he has taken a leaf out of Crippa and Walsh’s book in that regard, when he does come back in it will be for keeps as he now knows what is required and is willing to do it.
Is going to be extremely valuable to us In the days and years ahead with his versatility and smarts, I honestly am beginning to think he will be the next one to go to the next level this year and become an a grade player for us. Big call I know but he is working so hard that something good has to come of it.

Re: Stocker on Bont, let's not Jack Watts the kid the first chance we get.

Give him time.

I have been thinking a lot about the 4 talls we played last week and I think it largely came down to having to play Lobbe as the ruckman with Kreuzer, Phillips & TDK all injured.

In 2 games this year Lobbe has taken 2 marks and simply can not be a forward option. This means that if we were to ruck McKay the forward line suddenly looks pretty small.

I also think playing Lobbe caused some of our issues with Gibbons ending as the deep option going inside 50 as our talls had to push higher to create the option coming out of defence that should have been the ruckmans job.

Hopefully with Kreuzer coming in this should be rectified.

I would think we go Lobbe, Casboult & Setterfield (susp) out for Jack, Kennedy & Kreuzer. Makes us bat a lot deeper in the middle, especially around the stoppage, and look at little more dynamic up forward.
Agree with these changes, but MK has had so little footy lately. Did he play in that intra trial a few weeks ago? This is the game that Kruez played the week before to get some miles into his legs before the Cats NB match. Russell would be a whiz if he could have him ready for Doggies

This image is the type of Iconic call to arms (metaphorically) we need as a football club, not only the players, but especially the finals.

Tiger' first major win in 10 years is a testament to grit, persistence, and most importantly of all BELIEF

Belief and Confidence, that is the most tangible thing missing from our boys right now, you cannot bottle it, or actually buy it from some magical genie, it is something that only individuals can actually develop upon themselves, through their own journey and ups and downs .

Tiger's last 10 years are a fair parable for our footy since 2002, some pretty grim times, and mistakes (many self-inflicted)

But, as the saying goes, it is always darkest before dawn. Tiger's triumph should hopefully send a message to our boys about the triumph of hard work, persistence and BELIEF.

And the same goes to us fans too.

Everyone wrote us off halftime in 1970 GF, days before 1999 Preliminary Final etc.

I think we should all buy into the Carlton Vs The World sentiment, now more than ever, it's important we try muster up some of that good old fashioned Carlton Arrogance and Pride. And it all starts in backing in our players and coaching staff in, all in it together.

Are we going to let lazy slapstick writers in the media like Mark Robinson or Jon Ralph constantly wind us up and our team, who are working their backsides off, but not getting rewards for effort (yet? )

The Same Robbo who wrote two weeks ago that James Hird is returning as Essendon coach ?

I am apologetic for this being a bit long winded, but I was really moved by Tiger Woods' triumph (and I don't really care for golf lol) and the lessons it can show us all about how can rise from the ashes, hard work and the belief in one's self and each other.

That applies as well to some folks here and on talk back radio/social media who are feeling crestfallen/disillusioned. This club has had an entire continent's worth of the kitchen sink thrown at us in the past 17 years, and far sooner rather than later, we will surge up the ladder and everyone will start hating us again.

But it all starts with having a positive and confident outlook, starting this Sunday at Marvel.

My tip. Blues by 15 points, and Charlie to finally get out of the Easy Street he has been coasting on, and kick 4 or 5 of the Best.

GO BLUES !!!
Good Post well done. 👍🏽

Cuningham back into the mix changes my thoughts slightly, and probably prevents Stocker from getting a gig. Hopefully it doesn't mean Fisher spends the entire game on-ball.

Problem with bringing in Kennedy is that he now hasn’t played for 3 weeks.
Played in the North Melbourne practice match, likely played in the Northern intraclub too. Apparently missed this week with quad tightness, but is available.

I think our forward line needs a shuffle. Silvagni should come in. Do we have an actual small forward who can come in? Not a converted midfielder. I would've said Garlett but he seems to be a backman these days.
Garlett played forward in the VFL. Now that Lang, Williamson and Macreadie are cleared to play, he's been shuffled back into a more attacking role, thankfully.

He does but he also can be a bit thumbly ..I don’t think it’s our team selection that is the major issue this year..it is simply poor ball movement and forwards not working cohesively... therefore I don’t think we should be making too many unforced changes..stick with a team and try to refine the process ...players in NB team should work on the same strategies so if and when they come into seniors they’re not lost in the system
I think we are finally matching our set ups between the seniors and 2 s so the players that come in should know the system well before coming in which should make a big difference to us when we do have a change.

Kreuzer played in the intra club and the in the VFL last week where he looked remarkable - I would be amazed if he doesn't play
