Well, the coach begs to differ! And on last nights evidence, he will (& should) play forward where possibleNope. Balta ain't a forward. It will take a LOT more than one game to convince me otherwise. He is one of the very few defenders who can pick up a Curnow or McKay however - best we've had since Rance.
Similar, but on reflection, it was the second quarter that did my head in and Yze spoke about it during his presser. Our inability to get the ball out of our D50 from kick ins was atrocious, they kicked 3 goals from mistakes in that area and Yze picked up on it. Said it will be addressed. So so happy to have this guy as our coach, he’s going to be outstanding in the role imo.Woke up this morning and was not even the slightest pissed off. Not sure if this is a good thing or not. We were the better side, albeit we made the typical mistakes we somehow find a way of doing every game, but it was the courage to stand with 3 players unavailable at half time that really impressed me. One of Gibcus or Young not going down would have allowed Balta to stay forward and we win by 2-3 goals. Impartial umpiring and we win by 6-7 goals.
Can see a lot of similarities between Colonwood's "close games" in 2022, and Freeton's last 5 games. AFL / Umps clearly have a favorite to win the flag as they did last year. Even my Freeton's fanbois are not "up and about" today.... They are not as dumb as they look and are well aware they got a free ride last night.
throw in Suns BTB home games an 7 day break compared to RFC 5 day break after 3pm blazing sun in the middle of day tropics gameCompare the pair.
Carlton (4th last year)
First 4 rounds.
1. Lions
2. Tigers
3. Bye
4. North
Richmond (13th last year)
First 4 rounds
1. Suns
2. Blues
3. Port
4. Swans.
You cannot tell me when the AFL map out the draw they have equalisation in mind. I'm calling out BS on this one.
So tired of posters bagging Kmac and Pickett. If there’s players playing better than them in their roles, I could understand it but there’s no one knocking the door down. Kmac was fine last night and had to be deployed down back, and was ok but got outpositioned once or twice in an unfamiliar role.No point blaming the umpires.
1st free to Lynch was soft although technically accurate. 2nd one was laughable, a howler. After that he was largely ineffective.
Bolton terrible.
3 injuries and limited bench. Young & Gibcus unlucky but you have to ask why the hell are we persisting with Prestia at this stage? Surely we need to look beyond guys like Pickett and KMac and inject some youth. Surely Mansell isn't best 23 or even best 28.
I thought the 50 metre penalty was harsh but I concede that it was there. The thing that was totally unfair was the length of the penalty. I checked the MCG dimensions. The centre square is 50 metres by 50 metres. Baker gave away the 50m penalty outside the centre square, but you can clearly see that the position relative to the square. The mark was taken maybe 5 metres forward of the back corner of the centre square. This means Baker should have been brought back to stand the mark no closer to goal than the 50 metre line at worst. Instead, he was taken at least 10 metres inside the 50 metre arc. The penalty was closer to 60 metre rather than 50 metres. Worse still you would expect the umpires to be well aware of the dimensions of the centre square as a reference to for this exact situation. So to make this big of a mistake at this stage of the game really should be explained by the AFL.After that first quarter us getting a few soft ones the blue cheat umpires made a point to anally destroy us. Standard Richmond brain farts as well costing us a crucial 50m killed the game.
We can take a lot more positives out of that game than them
Apart from the injuries of course
A good side would have put us away in the second quarter. Not impacting the scoreboard with 87% time in your forward half is a very poor return. To our credit, with Gibcus, Young, Vlasuin and Grimes - we held their forwards well. If we didn't lose Gibcus or Young, we win the game. Balta being thrown down back to help and then relief ruckman was nothing short of brilliant. BOG by a long way.Similar, but on reflection, it was the second quarter that did my head in and Yze spoke about it during his presser. Enough for 2??gonna hook myself up to an enema bag filled with lube
We no longer be able to wrap up opponents in a tackle. Too easily brushed aside. I don't know whether the players are gun shy, with the constant decisions that go against us.i thought our tackling was poor last night
The blues seemed to be able to shrug off our guys
I bet they want to sneak in a carltoon flag or 2 before tasmania comes inWoke up this morning and was not even the slightest pissed off. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.
