Shouldn't be playing then. Was dropped last game last year and that should've been a warning to him he wasn't best 23. Unfortunately with all the injuries and lots of other subpar performers he still trots around. Standards at the club are at an all time low atm and we need a review asap.

I am giving you a red flag ... Marlion plays every week ... he needs every week to reach 100 this year ... only a moron would suggest otherwise ... make him sub or not ... just accept that him playing every week is for the greater good

Short played quite well as a mid 2 seasons ago. Copped a bit of flak as usual but he got the ball and is quick of either foot to roost it forward, so that's half the problem. Smith is going to be good and is being wasted down in the VFL, he was ready for senior action weeks ago.
Short was a forward when drafted ... kicked 3 goals on debut ... send him forward so we can kick a winning score

You just know we’re going to bring in Dion. I love the bloke but give him another week or so. Last thing he or we need is another soft tissue injury to him
Yeh it’s sad. He can’t put games together. Could easily be subbed off early as well.

How can you play inside mid or small forward and not lay a tackle?

Based on the test players being available can predict the changes as

In: Balta, Prestia, Graham

Out: Campbell, Banks, Naismith.

No combo or other young guys coming in

He will probably fall short of 100 I’m sure court dates will come up they can’t adjourn it forever

The club has issued this injury report…

Key Richmond trio Noah Balta, Dion Prestia and Jack Graham are all a test to return to action for Saturday night's clash with the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

Important midfielder Prestia suffered a significant hamstring strain back in Round 1, while athletic swingman Balta has been on the sidelines since the Tigers' Round 3 win over the Sydney with an MCL injury.

Hard-tackling midfielder Graham missed Sunday's Round 8 clash with Fremantle due to a hamstring complaint.

Meanwhile, developing forward Jacob Bauer is also a test to be available for the first time this season after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Wouldn’t mind just having Balta back…only if a solid 100% fit amd ready to go…Prestia and Graham can do a half in the VFL

Good to see Bauer almost ready to resume match play with the VFL

…I’m worried that Lynchy has reached the point where injuries get the better of him…longer to heal…quicker to injure

Hope Gibcus gets over his bad run with injuries…surely it can’t happen again to the poor bloke

Richmond Injury List:

Test

Noah Balta, knee

Dion Prestia, hamstring

Jack Graham, hamstring

Jacob Bauer, hamstring

Unavailable

Jacob Hopper, hamstring (2 weeks)

Tim Taranto, wrist (4-6 weeks)

Jack Ross, foot (6-8 weeks)

Tom Lynch, hamstring (6-8 weeks)

Liam Fawcett, back (TBA)

Mate Colina, back (TBA)

Josh Gibcus, knee (season)

Judson Clarke, knee (season)

Prez's had 8 weeks recovery. We badly need him He's either recovered and to 15 games a year Dion or he breaks down again . May as well find out

So without Pickett, who would you have played and what changes would you prefer to see? Essentially looking at the list in its current shape.

If McAulife is the answer then we are just throwing the kid to the wolves. Very High risk High reward type deal as he gets experience a lot earlier but you could also start to entrench bad habits without any leaders or you end up just ruining him as he starts to lose faith in his abilities.

Cumberland hasn't had a good run in the 2's the last few weeks but he could come into the side to move Dusty up to play 60% game time through the Middle. It could work as we get to move a very experienced Martin into the guts where the most experienced permanent mid there is Dow.

I know Yze doesnt want to "Look to the past" but maybe whilst Meehan is running around with a crowbar, we could bring in a Smith (who has been going nicely in the HB) or a Trezis to take over the Short role and inject him into the midfield. Hell he could do rotations with Dan in the midfield to get some extra speed around the contest when Shai has to rest forward.

I get that Pickett and McIntosh are spuds that no one wants picked at the moment but we do need to try and keep some experience in the side for just a pure learning point of view.

As I have said constantly this year, I am really really impressed by the way our kids are putting in the effort. I would hazard a guess that Clarkson watches our games and wishes the extremely talented <25 players he had would show even 35% of the fight and effort our kids are putting in. From the Umpiring point of view I just lose my s**t when I see effort unrewarded and protection not given.
Out: McIntosh Banks Naismith Campbell Mansell Grimes Dow
In: Prestia Ryan Balta McAuliffe Smith, Coulthard, NIWL

B: Miller Young Baker
HB Rioli Broad Vlastuin
C: Coulthard Prestia HRS
HF: M.Rioli Balta Bolton
F: Lefau Martin NIWL
R: Nankervis McAuliffe Sonsie
INT: Brown Ryan, Short, Smith
SUB: Pickett

I've replaced Campbell with Smith as a kid for a kid.

Naismith with Ryan as Ryan is not a kid anymore and his body is up to the rigours of AFL. Still needs more work, but he just has to play ahead of Naismith. Plus offers more as a forward also and Naismith was hardly sited the last 2 weeks.

Kmac2 for Dow as he's bigger , stronger and more attacking and better defensively than Dow. So a gain there.

Coulthard for Banks which both are at the same stage in their development.

Prestia for KMAC which means an automatic win as we have a genuine mid in and will be a great role model and support to KMAC2. Just need to hold Rosary beads that Prestia can get through the game.

Balta with Mansell as that's a massive win for our FL and Dusty and LeFau as we have been too short in the FL.

Cumberland for Grimes as we don't need that extra defender as he was doing nothing anyway, but just costing us goals . What we need is two hard running players out of the BL . Rioli is the class exit man go to player and Baker picks up the genuine small and can play tough guy on him and not a mid 10cm taller than him where he was chewed up and spat out last week. Short backs these two guys up , but will need to show some physicality this week and keep his feet as he's been terrible for a while now. A tackle would always be nice by him , but that might be asking for a bit too much.

Based on all of that i think we have an 8-10 goal better side this week and expect us to boot 13-15 goals and possibly pull out a win. Not confident still , but more hopeful that we will surpass the insipid 5 and 6 goal performances i've witnessed recently.

Smart thing to do would give Prestia a run for a half in the Twos and ease him back.
But I did say 'smart' thing and we won't do that.
There's more chance of us winning the flag than Prestia (or anyone else who played in a premiership) coming back through the VFL.
