As a neutral observer, it looked like a point to my eye from the television angles that were shown, but certainly far from conclusive. The goal umpire called a goal so that should stand. Lynch's reaction also did not help the cause. (If you follow the NFL, the replay system usually get to the right decision but not always. Nothing is 100% accurate.)

On a more general note, the standard of umpiring was terrible. (Maybe the speed of the modern game is too difficult to adjudicate consistently.) It really detracts from what was otherwise an excellent game of football.

Pickett is a inside mid and a bigger bodied one at that .
Either play RCD , Dow as a inside mids at AFL level or **** them off .
Improve the strength inside mid and we win premierships .
Soldo is trade bait .
Can get anything for Castagna take it .
Nank has 1 year at best left .
Don’t play undeveloped talls in finals

Despite the score review when they got the ball back we should have been setting up better then that. Only ourselves to blame.

Lynch s**t the bed twice to be honest. Story of our season.
Yeah, we definitely had our chances but we also gave plenty to them as well

Daniher had the footy gods on his side for that last goal

Alas in looking at the season overall I’m taking a lot more positive than negative, winning the flag was always going to be a slog especially with Prestia now injured

But what we have seen from our next wave has been massive and we still haven’t even seen a lot of Clarke, Banks and Browne who all look fantastic in the vfl and long term prospects

Add in the big trade season and the future is bright

Further to my last post

This is the same front on image showing the ball inside the post.

This is a second angle at this point in time. It clearly shows the left part of the ball over the post. We know the ball isn’t over the post based on the front on view so the ball must be on or slightly behind the goal line at this point. If the ball was in front of the post it would never appear over the post from this angle.

The last angle for this point in time highlights just how deceptive the view is in relation to the post. We know the ball is not over the post but this angle makes it look like it is.

This to me explains it perfectly from John Ralph. In a nutshell the technology is inconclusive so it’s a clear error in overturning it, Dunstall and Montagna on the same page as Ralphy

“The evidence needs to be irrefutable, it needs to be overwhelming for that to be overturned, because as we know the goal umpire initially called a goal.

“There is a freeze frame here that potentially indicates the ball is over the post, but it’s not directly behind the line of the kick, so we ask something of this system it potentially is not always capable of.

“It’s not a 360-degree system there.

“We know the AFL will very likely tick that one off tomorrow morning.”

Had to turn tv off and got to bed last night straight after the game as I was going to rage.
Woke up feeling good about our prospects going forward.
Sonsie and roili jr were great last night, Gibcus was OK considering he was a young key defender in a shoot out.
I though D Rioli, Bolton and Nank let us down a bit last night.
Martin should not have player either.
Can't wait for trade week now.
Also hope Geelong get screwed over by umpiring so I can go on the main board and be a smart arse

Roast - Dion's hammy. Love the bloke and he makes us so much better, but we need some reliability. Just can't afford to cop an injury like that.

Roast - The stand rule. Blokes are confused on the mark and in a loud finals game they aren't going to hear the call. Such a penalty to concede in what turned out to be a close game. We copped it twice.

Toast - sonsie and Maurice. You can't say the future isn't bright at least.

Gibcus is a ******* spud.
Lynch never plays in big finals, I can name 1 game only.
Lynch missed 2 sodas cost us the game.
Dusty can * off he is cooked.
So i guess you are leaving the board and returning your membership very shortly? I mean, clearly, there's no future for Gibcus and Lynch has been a liability ever since he walked through the door. Why support something that makes you unhappy (and say really, really stupid things where people point and laugh at you).

I haven’t got my tiger goggles on here , I go to our games every week and most weeks we cop shocking umpiring it’s nothing new what happened again last night .

Firstly, to Lambert, Caddy, Edwards and Parker, thank you for your contributions to the club. Great and small. I could voice off about the goal review, the defensive error at the end, the injury to Prestia during the 2nd quarter, but, you know what, the kids will be better for that. I'm not gonna flame Gibcus or Miller etc. I am actually really excited for what they are gonna bring down the line. They saw the difference last night between home and away and finals. Sonsie, MRJ look the goods and Ross played another solid game. We have another solid off season with recruiting on and off the field and i am very bullish for the future. I'm not off the train and neither should you all. Yeah, shit way to bow out, but, the sun will come out today and i have no doubt we have some very exciting announcements coming. It's not all bad. Chin up.

Dimma nailed it in his press conference…our skills and execution were not good enough.

Dusty and co aren’t our most damaging match winners anymore and the new guys like lynch, Bolton and the youth need to learn about winning and leadership in finals footy before we have that winning edge again. We all know how valuable elimination finals losses can be if we keep a growth mindset.

I've calmed down and on reflection my comments were made with rage.

I still stand by these

If Dusty's heart isn't in it he need to make a decision
Gibcus was a liability and Im not backing down on this comment
I was too hard on Lynch but he could have iced the game twice.
I was ropeable last night too, Gibcus the poor guy had a Barry Crocker.

he’s a kid in his first year though, who imho was asked a lot for the entire year from Dimma.
Looks about 85kg and is playing on seasoned campaigners

Great summary. Spot on. Sun has come up……just….

It's on the team selection for sure but most could see that Gibcus was struggling during the back half of the H&A season. It's a final you need to minimise the risk.

Anyway it's done the AFL got what they wanted and what they had planned for.

Disappointing end to what was an exciting year the result typical of many of our close losses ,,,in front for 80% of the game and had every chance to seal it . To kick 16G and lose a final is just bewildering , alas we did our best . Thought most young blokes handled first final well , gibbo struggled again and prob questioned his selection of another tall defended
the ARC overule was just a sick joke ,,,so you need conclusive evidence to overturn umpires call , ball comes in on a 45deg angle and using a two dimensional screen the imbecile says thats conclusive evidence to overturn the decision ,,,absolute bs , you’d need a camera from ground up to call that
anyways ,,go tigers
