Thats jack graham every single week.
Once again it's got nothing to do with how many possessions he gets, it's the way he goes about it. As you said Cotchin became twice the player when he stopped stat padding and started to impact the game through his attack on the ball and the opposition. So when he isn't attacking the ball and the opposition his impact on the game isn't the same. That is why he had so many contested possessions, clearances and tackles because he is in and under the packs and while he got clearances and contested possessions against Carlton there was no impact from them.
Compare the stat lines:
R1 - 14 disposals 2 tackles 3 clearances 9 contested 2 score involvements 5 effective disposals 4 turnovers 2 interceptions 171 metres gained 2 I50s 1 R50 37.5% efficiency 76%TOG
R2 - 18 disposals 8 tackles 4 clearances 10 contested 7 score involvements 13 effective disposals 2 turnovers 4 interceptions 288 metres gained 6 I50s 2 R50s 72.2% efficiency 76%TOG
I've highlighted where his impact on the game improves when he is playing like he did on Sunday and it comes from him being in and around the contest and involved in the play a lot more than he appeared to be against Carlton.
Again there was no suggestion to drop Cotchin last week in fact I'd say he'd have a good 4-5 week block to find form before questions start getting asked about his spot in the side at club level and he seemed to find some form last week which eases the pressure a bit, however another couple of games like he produced against Carlton will see the queries begin again.
If they have paid a decent sum of money for him over four years then they need him to become a player.CCJ can’t even get a game for the bottom team who is rebuilding and attracted him with a juicy 4-year deal…. with Goldy and Xerri ahead of him in the ruck pecking order, plus Comben and Edwards also looking very promising CJ seems to have made a poor career move.

He only showed signs at Richmond. Bit of a gamble there that could bite them on the backside. Ive seen a number of players have debut years more promising that him and yet fade out after a couple of years.
If Jack is in, I would love to see him play off the HFF, move up to the wing & stay out of the way of Balta & Lynch. He is still a smart player who is slowing down & we cant afford to have our forward 50 too congested. He is still useful with the ball in hand & I think he is a better player when he moves around as he is one of the best readers of the ball in our team.

I take it that is around the 20 mark. Plenty good players picked from there.Roos second rd selection looks good so far.
And where would he play at the Tigers!?...three forwards up there plus caddy!!!CCJ can’t even get a game for the bottom team who is rebuilding and attracted him with a juicy 4-year deal…. with Goldy and Xerri ahead of him in the ruck pecking order, plus Comben and Edwards also looking very promising CJ seems to have made a poor career move.

All these people wetting the bed when CCJ and Chol left....we need to draft a KPF for when Jack retires. Now Jack can't get a game..And where would he play at the Tigers!?...three forwards up there plus caddy!!!
I remember when he first started he was a classic 3rd tall type who played in the holes. Then he obviously grew into a great KP fwd, good time to go back to his roots and that original role, suits a smart footballer. I don’t think he can play too high for too long in periods he’ll just get torched in the open spaces
Of those options you have Melbourne with Jackson who can play forward and the Saints with both Ryder and Marshall with forward capabilitiesIf a team has 2 quality rucks they generally play both. Goldy/Xerri. Gawn/Jackson. Nank/Soldo. Marshall/Ryder.
With 4 on the bench and a sub the ‘risk’ is worth it. Nank and Soldo play 65% game time each so it’s not hampering team balance.

Give meatball another week, he’s only a part time playerAfl article saying riewoldt and grimes will return with Prestia next week and Vlastuin the following week
Why would you drop soldo?, and why can’t you leave Jack out?If Jack is fit then we should drop Soldo or have Balta as a defender and drop Gibcus
Team balance was all wrong against Carlton and was much much better against the Giants
Really tough call because neither of those options seem great and yet you can’t leave Riewoldt out
You could leave Jack outWhy would you drop soldo?, and why can’t you leave Jack out?
How the **** are you dropping George and leaving Aarts in there fmlIn: Cumberland, Riewoldt, Grimes
Out: Castagna, Miller, Ross
I’ll be gobsmacked if Soldo is dropped. Why would you drop soldo?, and why can’t you leave Jack out?
Read yesterday that Dow's knee was knocked inward and he was lucky to escape an ACL. Dodged a bullet there. Thought he showed some good signs...
Surely Jack is a clever enough footballer to play the third tall Bailey Fritch type role. He's strengths are marking and finding space and reading the play. If used properly in this role he is still a weapon. Plus the value he add to Balta in teaching him is crucial. Jack also requires a quality defender, again freeing up Balta and stopping Lynch being double teamed. The rucks can get a proper rest on the pine. If the rotations are handled properly there no need for us to be top heavy at all, in fact it would be probably the most damaging forwardline in the AFL.Really depends on the makeup of the individual side.
Melbourne's FWD line the conventional wisdom would be that McDonald and Brown are key talls, yet Fritsch is not.
But when you factor in that Lynch is a considerably better athlete than Brown (and to a lesser extent McDonald) and Balta athletically superior to all three, is it really possible to successfully argue that we're 'too top heavy' when compared with them?
The media report said Grimes and Riewoldt will both play.
Grimes should replace Miller.
Ross has made several errors in both matches and deserves a spell in the VFL.
He doesn't have the second reflex efforts unlike Hugo, Dow or Matt P.
In: Grimes, Riewoldt.
Out: Miller, Ross.
