our defence will destroy dogs

who do they even have? bruce who kicks a bag once a year and then 3 goals the rest of the year? (and hes already kicked his bag) lloyd will let us win as he'll always be a tiger. unless noughton is back from injury they will be lucky to kick 25 so all we have to do is somehow kick 26

Their mids hit the scoreboard. They play far more attacking then GWS so we will need to switch on and take our chances.

Their quick ball movement against our currently decimated midfield...

Toast:
  • The brilliant Shai Bolton
  • Dusty putting the side on his back
  • Baker the Impassable
  • KMac, 100% effort, 100% of the time, unlike a few others
  • Balta flogging Cameron
Roast:
  • Kicking for goal. Cost us the match, pure and simple. Yet again, we blow an away game to GWS we had for the taking.
  • Who was the coach who said, "Normally I have no comment about the umpires. Today I have absolutely no comment whatsoever"? That.
  • Naish. Soooooft and sloooowwww. Also small. Imagine banging the coach's door down asking when you're getting a game and putting that 'effort' in. Is he fit? Can he run?
Not too disheartened. Perhaps we just had too many out.

Good game but lack of class and failing to convert opportunities killed you's, I did back you to win by nine goals but that's probably with your best team. Dusty was excellent JR and Lynch both out of form and not leading enough, something's wrong with Rioli, I'll post a theory on how Rioli could've dropped in form. Garthwaite should've played instead of Naish to help combat the GWS tall forwards (Garthy would probably be a ideal matchup on Himmelberg and Broad can go on Finlayson) and it'll allow Grimes to play on Green all game so he only gets 5 possessions not 5 goals. Soldo was decent in the ruck despite not doing much around the ground and Bolton was great. Castagna was good and made some good tackles and Balta killed Cameron whenever he was on him (Most of Cameron's touches was when Broad was on him).

Your defense should beat the Dogs with Balta giving Bruce a bath. Would like to see Balta attack more but it's a high risk high reward with the reward of having an extra man in attack but with the risk of his man getting a free shot at goal should it get turned over in the middle.

Still fuming over this game, this game will cost us big time in the final placing of the ladder ffs and now we play our bogey side dogs **** them , another poor tinpot club, us destroying norf at metricoj gives me a tiny bit of hope that we can actually put these poor clubs where they belong, in the bin

I was at the ground and it was awful to watch the first half, slow frustrating football, allowing both teams to flood back to defend.
We have stopped playing attacking footy, tapping the ball on, chaos kicks forward, swarming in packs etc.
Instead we stop, look around, wait so the opposition can flood back, then we kick it.
I watched so many times that Jack or Lynch (or Dusty) had a one on one opportunity, but we waited and looked around, then Finally we kicked it when it was 10 def v 5 fwds type scenario.
Noting Both Jack and Lynch look slow, but we don’t actually give them a chance to run at it or play one out.
Also, we don’t man up, not our style, hasn’t been since 2017, but every now and then you would like to think we could do it at the odd boundary throw in - Kelly and Whitfield allowed to be by themselves all night. Likewise I watched Flossy give Green a paddock on two occasions, resulting In goals.
Finally, On Rioli, he looks like he has put on too much size, there is no zip about him. Half his tackles where on guys lying on the ground with the ball. If I’m resting anyone, it’s Rioli first, then Jack R second, followed by the one armed Jack G (cannot lift his arm above his head, but still gets a game?).
lost opportunity for 4 points, but hopefully a turning point like it was last year.

Anyone else notice when balta gets the ball he’s either gun shy or really trying hard to be retrained and use shorter option.

Good that’s hes listening to the coaches and other defenders telling him too..

bad for entertainment purposes and not getting max out of his weapon 60+ meter kicks

Yep. They've done to him what they did to Griffiths and to a lesser extent Dusty. Restrained their natural instincts to bomb the ball long, hard and fast.

I don't know why. It is a real weapon.

I'd be comfortable with the following changes

In: Cotchin Astbury Stack
Out: Graham Rioli Naish

If Astbury isn't ready or for balance he still stays out, then I'd bring in RCD instead

It's harsh on Naish, but I think he might need to play some good reserves again before being brought in cold

I set out to only say positive things in my review and I'll stick to that below the dotted line, but before that I'm going to be making a few comments and exceptions to the rule tonight.

1) I'm sure you know 22 blokes gave their all for you tonight, Tucky, and you'd still smile at and cop the result we came up with, because that's who you were every week you were a Richmond man. We started missing you the season you weren't there anymore and nights like this when the game is in the balance and we need someone to charge face first into the fire and try their heart out to turn the game, we miss you even more. You know everyone out there gave their all for you in the moment and that's always been enough for you.

Vale beautiful man, we will always love you.

2) This has been said ad infinitum by some great posters (several of whom I know for a fact have walked away because of similar moronic behaviour) for the last 13yrs I've been on this board, but halfway through the first quarter tonight I said to myself: I will never again even look at a 'Game Day' thread on this forum.

No 'Tigers together', absolutely no respect for the effort EVERY player brings to the game.

Just a truly extraordinary amount of biased player trolls and keyboard snipers who truly have NFI about football, quite deliberately ignoring all the good and just trolling the players they apparently love to hate for the ordinary moments every player has.

It's disgusting to read, I'm ashamed to read 10% of it the rare times I do. I hoped tonight, of all nights, it might be different. I bailed out halfway through the first quarter because it was either that or I was going to fair dinkum declare war on at least a dozen professional player trolls.

Please, ask yourselves a 5 second question before you decide you deserve the right to comment on a game in a public forum: Is what I am about to say about a Tiger player, actually fair?

Coz, you know, if it's not, then you're contributing the exact opposite of what has made us a great club. For three and a half decades of football wilderness, I could understand and empathise with the endless expressions of agony and frustration and the player assassination. But somehow, the behaviour continues after two premierships.

Two premierships. What more could any club ask for in an era? Please, consider acting like decent human beings and when you comment, show the gratitude and respect the club and ALL its players deserve. It doesn't cost anyone anything to be kind and understanding to our young blokes and if a senior player is not at their best there's probably really good reason(s) for that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GWS got us tonight at their shitty orange flat fort and it hurts. It hurts because of how much we all wanted to win for Tucky, it hurts because GWS didn't come remotely close to playing a good four quarters, it hurts because of the abysmal standard of umpiring which continues to utterly warp results and ruin already shortened games, it hurts because of the awful, shallow, clueless commentators 7 subject the football public to, most of all it hurts because we didn't rise to the occasion and breathe enough fire to overcome all the rest.

Sometimes, that just happens. We can only take it on the chin and resolve to do better - I'm sure we will.

Bolton was really exceptional again and just for his last three weeks of 2/3rd output games he would clearly be our midfielder of the year. The handful of things that he's not quite there with yet are so tiny in comparison to his ridiculous potential - the pace, the avoidance, the smarts, the vision...he's already outrageously good. Consistency and four quarter output is coming and as I can't seem to stop saying in recent weeks, he will absolutely tear games apart in coming years.

Soldo grows far beyond his years and experience with every game. He has nowhere to hide being first input at the vast majority of stoppages, he's doing so well and his persistent trolls downright deserve to be named and shamed until they slink away or change their usernames (for the umpteenth time in some cases). The man is 27 games into his career in a role players peak latest performing, yet after almost a decade of watching Martin rotate through the midfield, NO Tiger ruckman has ever stuck it down his throat like he got it tonight (the stats don't lie, only biased people do). The big fella was magnificent again up against a fresh Jacobs playing for his career. Several times I lost count of his HTA's they were coming so thick and fast, he nearly turned the match and was fantastic - again.

Marbs was very good in support. The game so much hinged and turned on arguably the worst adjudicated mark/non-mark decision imaginable and we deserve to be cut up about it, he should have been going back and hopefully putting us level, back to the centre square where thanks to he and Soldo, we finally dominated all night. His ruckwork continues to improve, he's very much ticking all boxes at this early stage, love his progress.

Short was really good again, loved plenty about Georgie and Vlas' games, everybody tried their best and none could be faulted on that.

We'd all love to be celebrating, it was not to be, I was proud of how well we fought the game out.

We've got a tough batch of games to come and it won't be easy, but we did a lot right tonight and I have every faith we'll be there come finals when it counts. :thumbsu::richmond:

What about Greene? THat was one of the best games of an individual this year?
Toby Greene 5 goals easily best on ground .
you guys are right... must have had a mental blank with regard to Toby in posting what I did there... Dusty should get the 2 and T.Greene will get the 3 of course.
