At this rate Minibus will get a ten year deal. Really can’t fault the tweaks he’s made to convert small losses into wins.
I love his composure in the box and he’s making the right moves especially when teams get a run on against us.
I said in the coaches thread we need to go through the due process, but seriously are we going to find anyone better is my question now? As someone said earlier we look like the team from three years ago and without Lynch and Hopper who are two A graders.
My biggest thing I’ve noticed is that from our vfl side to our AFL side , players are starting to be played in their correct positions. The only exception to this is Benjamin Miller bc he can play anywhere.:):moustache:
Short HBF was always his position and not a MF a-hole let alone a MF
Cotchin in the guts with Dusty and Dusty just doing cameos in FL.
Clarke starting in line up rather than being sub. He was crucial early on when we were getting run off our legs for speed and played a very good game overall.
Brown and Banks in the reserves were moved further up the ground when we were kicking with the wind and absolutely looked like AFL standard footballers bc they were allowed to play in their natural positions.
If Pickett comes back he needs to go on the wing for Graham as we need electricity and spark beneath Miller and Jack. MRJ and Clarke add that and it’s not all about possessions as their pace adds pressure and fear into their opponents. Even Baker sniffing around there was scary for defenders. Miller brings other players in the game and had he played against Port I reckon Minibus would have a 100% record. The bulldust looking for a tall forward in the msd was only that as we have a very good one on our list. The only thing that upset me with Miller all season and up until just before the first 20min of the first quarter he’d been going one handed for marks. Just before quarter time he must of been told to use both hands or he finally realised he had two Fxxking hands and then we got to see his true potential as a kpp player.
Brisbane‘s small backmen are terrible and we need to expose them with electrifying pace and l hope we don’t fall into the trap of replacing speed with tough plodders.
Need to be careful with caretaker coaches , who was the last caretaker coach who was actually successful?

Paul Roos.

Paul Roos took over as caretaker coach from Rodney Eade in 02 when the Swans all but signed Terry Wallace as coach but the fans and players rallied behind Roos forcing the Swans hierarchy to backtrack on Wallace.

The Swans went on to make the 03 Prelim, 04 Semi's and won the premiership in 05 runners up by a point in 06 and finalist in 07 and 08.

Can be done why not by Mini.

Paul Roos. RFC has been rewriting the history books a lot of late so he’s been involved in that and I would prefer a gamble on him rather than some unknown who could change things for the worst. Also it’s evident we have a competitive list that’s now getting its act together under Minibus. A lot of first year coaches and X ones have also been spuds as well.

Oh and Judson Clark is going to be a 250 gamer.
Judson did some nice things.Took the saints on using his pace.
Starting too look more comfortable at this level.
that high half forward role is a freakin hard to play but when we needed a bit of class he bobbed up.

I'd love for him to be a Chris Knights type player (at his peak). I see some similar traits
His kick that was marked by Baker was as good a kick as you’d see.

When Baker is behind a taller (obviously) opponent the kick has to be good for Liam to mark; it was perfect.

This play from the backline up to Baker's strong mark was champagne footy. Then Baker looks around behind him as Shorty makes a break on his opponent and Shorty kicks an even better one that mentioned by me earlier... contested outside 50m and slots it! huge kick!

This is the one I referred to a few posts ago. Perfect kick from Clarke to Baker.

We're a massive chance to win this game, Brisbane haven't exactly been setting the world on fire. They have dropped away in their last 3 games and we play the Gabba well and they know it.

Hitting them in form too and we have upped our scoring.
Back line the key , youngy to hipwood , Balta to joe , grimes to Cameron , our mids will gives us plenty of supply , we got to smother them in D50 I reckon they can get it done

good luck to match committee figuring out the changes for after the bye if pickett & hopper are good to go

mrj & ryan outs for pickett & hopper throws us out of whack, and if we have to get rid of other players to maybe bring in soldo or another tall then it'll be unlucky cos there's no one that really deserves to be dropped

ryan would be hoping he heals over the break so he can stay in the side but he also didn't have the best game, do hope we persist with him and miller in the same side at least until lynch comes back then it's probably ryan out if miller keeps up his solid ruck/fwd work. but we do gotta remember ryan's earlier ruck form. and then there's still soldo
plagued with the dilemma of where and how to play Cotchin,Prestia,Taranto,Hopper,Bolton,Martin & to a lesser extent JGTI @ the same time put an end to Hardwicks coaching career

Imagine Hopper in this midfield now it’s clicking finally 🙏. Could be a biggg win.
Tim seeks out Jacob they have a great friendship and also close playing relationship that is symbiotic Hopper adds mid 20 disposals to our roving arsenal.

It will not be long until we gel even further we will have a 50 calibre midfield that will 'pink mist' the opposition in the second half of the season.

What was an interesting bit of information given out by Tim Livingstone was the revelation that the first thing that McQualter did was get the playing group together and ask them did we need to change the game plan.

Think about that a head coach albeit a caretaker leaves the option up to the players for a radical change one that Andrew surely would have had up his sleeve but the playing group pretty unanimously said no they want Richmond football.

That could very well have been the turning point as now the players have taken ownership of our game plan, its theirs to keep its theirs to protect its theirs to fight for.

The coaching staff will assist as best as they can to facilitate Richmond football, the original the best, and most of the clubs above us are to a lesser extent just imitating our way.

I knew the free kick count has been s**t, but looking at which players get them it looks even worse.
A caller on 3AW pointed out that we are -43 in frees over the last four weeks. Lloyd trotted out the tired “the way they play” line whereas McLure couldn’t believe we’d be complaining about umpiring when we are winning games.

Pretty hard to take any of the shows seriously. Serious analysis is far too much to ask.
