My favourite Nick Daicos moment last night not captured on the TV was in the last quarter……..Madgen attempted a mark when he should have punched and it cost us a goal and Nick was not happy about it and let him know.

To Madgen‘s credit he took the criticism on board and finished the quarter strongly.

What time was That?

Nick was Captain of the Chargers and also good to see a Senior Player Accepting what he Said

I just think he's stronger over the ball and in a contest than anyone else we have available for the roll. He's VFL standard, but we've got injuries in that area. I also think he gets blamed for things that aren't his fault. A bit like Langers when he was unpopular on here, when your press gets cracked and you're the one who is trailing in behind a bloke who's got ahead of the ball, it's rarely your fault. It's usually either just good play by the opposition or a defensive error further afield. But the trailer gets blamed if he's one of the whipping boys.

And if he is consistently giving too much leg rope, that's coaching and defensive organisation, as well as the player. Him getting selected suggests to me that they're happy to roll those dice. He's not one who will get selected if the coaches don't like his positioning.
I think that’s the crux of it he’s getting games because the view has been taken that he’s the best of a bad bunch which is why I highlighted our need to upgrade that position.

I personally hope the Buckley era has taught us enough about the coaches not necessarily having everything under control when problems as clear as the nose on your face aren’t being addressed! At the end of the day coaches aren’t infallible and they do get things wrong. Maybe what we both need to do instead of my earlier suggestion on butting heads is abstain from discussion on him? It just seems counterproductive.

I just don't see him as a list or selection issue. We've got a ridiculous number of kids, so him on the list doesn't concern me at all and at the moment he is the best of a bad bunch with our particular injuries. We just need Kelly to overtake him and then we move him and Murphy on next year. Then add a state league or draftee third tall.

P. S. Abstinence will be tough for both of us with so many other commenting on Madge. Personally, I think bloke 40 or so on our list who probably won't be there for much longer, isn't one we should worry about.

All topped off by the lack of stupid, childish abuse from other clubs nufties/fwits on FB.

Is been a pleasant quiet relaxed sunny Sunday in Hobart. None of the crap such FB fools ( the 1/2 dozen Essendon, Hawthorn, Carlton numb nuts on my FB feed) would have been drooling over & ready to dump on line.

Except we fkd them. ;)

Anyway, hoping for many more such pleasant Sundays to come. :)
It is Sunday in Hobart today????????

Quick... look up who won in Rose Hill race 5 on Saturday.

PM me the winner and your bank account number--- You will get a nice surprise by Monday (your time).
lol

The best part of that win for mine was that the times we were under pressure and challenged we responded immediately and emphatically whereas in recent years probably would have sh*t the bed and let them run over the top of us.

Granted it's only one game against likely another bottom ten side but I think the McRae era could be an exciting one

Was out at an engagement party last night but the gf let me sit by myself and watch the game... reckon every heard me yelling when Ollie kicked that goal in the last

Pumped. I love the why we're playing atm.
You should do something special for your gf. Not many like that.
My wife still reminds of the time we flew up to Sydney for her friend's wedding and, after a big session up there with my mates the night before, I was so hung over I couldn't make the wedding. Still paying for it.

Agreeing to get a puppy still has brownie points in the bank.

Honestly, if we’re going to use a young mid in the 22 and give them only 50% game time I’d prefer we use an infinitely better option in Macrae, or even give Reef a run.

Unsure why Brown had such limited game time but I think calling Macrae an “infinitely” better option at this stage in his development is generous beyond belief. He averaged 12-13 possessions, 1 clearance, and 10-11 pressure acts a game last year. Brown nearly matched all that and doubled his pressure acts in 50% game time. That said, I think they’re also tasked with different roles when they play.

Macrae has also struggled though the preseason to stake a claim. Ditto Reef. Their time will come.

What's interesting and probably reflective was the centre clearances, 9-18, I could see Brody and Mason intently look to hit to advantage. Hitouts 27-41, reflective of those centre clearance wins.

That's refreshing to see.

What I also saw last night was a lot of two running, particularly the mids, especially thegoey, this allowed us to 'guard grass' and close space without ball and apply pressure on the ball carrier. Looks like fly and co are looking at a return to the swarm and spread method coupled with 'chaos ball'.

This type of footy will expose us going the other way, we saw it a few times last night, fumble in your go go footy and you're left exposed going the other way. BUT the back 6-7 held shape (defence zoning) so we weren't totally exposed but it does put pressure on d50.

Best game Sidebottom has played in 2 years.

De Goey came back strongly in the 2nd half

Lipinski and Daicos excellent

Adams, Quaynor, Elliot, Mihocek ect

Lots of strong performances.

Cox Bianco Brown the only ones who struggled
Great call Kappa!

This game suits him much better than the chip & sideways game of the last 2 years. He compensates his lack of leg speed with nous and ball speed, it was surprising the saints let him roam free off the stoppage unmanned, particularly i50, he made em pay.

I expect the top teams though won't allow him that freedom and will probably tag him.

Because Macrae has shown far more in his limited time at the club than Brown has in over 4 years. If you want to jerk off to raw stats, then by all means you’re free to do so, but Macrae has far more talent than either of the Browns, and if 50% game time is an option, he’s the one I’d rather have in there because his tank becomes a non-issue in that scenario.

LOL. Love your crystal balling, shame the current reality is nothing like delivering on that potential. Macrae can keep working at VFL level and earn his opportunities.
