Misses from Wakefield, Yassir and Hosking in the second quarter are what lost us that

Clearly can’t leave the umps a chance to rodger us because having watched a fair bit of AFLW the umpiring standards have not improved at the same rate as the actual play

Yep they were all piss easy , you’d think we d kick at least 2 of and sew the game up , alas we struggled all day , not as good as I thought we d be ,,, missing kb class up forward and Jess H boots a dud out of the team ,,, where was branc, missed her too

We should have sealed it in the 2nd qtr, so never really should have been in that position but that was one of the worst decisions I have seen.
To top it off, the downfield free was the adjudicated incorrectly.

However, I disagree that the game was a poor advertisement of women's footy, yes scoring was low but the general intent of both teams was ferocious all day.
I enjoyed it.

Well said - we did lose it in the 2nd, should have been a handful of goals up. Just needed to calm the farm a bit every so often and not get sucked in to slamming the ball forward to an outnumber - both played a loose back - so they knew it was there.

That said the game was gripping, even if it was mistake riddled at times. Amy McDonald took the game away from us in the second half and warranted a tag. She's done it to us before.

Molan just should not be playing, so Branc would have been an obvious choice if OK. Play D'arcy back again - she at least gets to the flight of the ball down back and marks - handball off to the run of Sheerin could be devastating. Get Lavey playing outside Wing for her run and carry again - she teams up with Conti well too.

She was certainly a shining light ,,, conti very good , hosko good untidy at times but that’s her , Ellie threatened at times to break the game open , just a pass mark for her ability . Just really shabby in F50 cost us , defence was outstanding , kb hosko and branc will be welcome returns , several passengers out there that literally run on the spot

Haven’t seen the stats but I think Wakefield kicked 0.3 for the game. All relatively easy set shots. Need better from our only recognised key forward on a day of very low scoring

Unfortunately that game was as great a justification of why people aren't tuning in or paying to attend as you can get. That game was honestly Auskick level.

Not politically correct I know, but tend to agree. Auskick, no, but maybe junior boys under 14/15 level.

Scramble, tackle, smother, tackle again, fall over, hospital handball, kick to nowhere, tackle, run around to try to create some space, turnover. Rinse and repeat.........

Think we've been mightily spoiled when it comes to women's elite sports by our superstar women's cricket team.

Hope AFLW gets there eventually, but it's not anywhere near it yet............

I have replayed that match deciding free kick a few times. The tackle is being applied as Prespakis handballs it. Both arms are free so she can protect herself. Her head doesn’t noticeably hit the ground. It wasn’t late. There are at least 4 Geelong players between Prespakis and the ball drop.

Correct umpiring is play on 3 Tigers had it cornered, they clear it Cats would have been left with about 30 seconds max to get fro. wing through goals with a crowded 50m arc. The ump has just gone 1,2,3 and handed the Cats an chance to win it.

1. Free kick not there

2. Downfield is patently wrong as the tackles was not late

3. There are 4 Cats closer than Prespakis to the drop of the ball and 85% at least of female footballers are not making that kicking with the person on the mark at about 33 metres.

Until then I thought umps gave us some they shouldn’t have and maybe Cats a couple more. But that last bit of umpiring was grotesque by any measure.

Willams had it just the three, had plenty of forward pressure, eq 3rd highest tackler - first outing - super quick, she'll get better I think.
D'arcy had it three times too - but no marks
Molan 10 touches, mostly handballs - coulda fooled me - only one I recall was any good.

Let's face it, we don't kick it anywhere near enough and when we do we create our own pressure.

Crap decision for the last goal, that umpire isn’t ready.
But just too many errors.
Crap handballs to players under pressure.
Egan was pretty good but really poor defensively in the third.
Their mids lost out players too often around the contest.

Wakefield getting out marked twice down the line in the last two minutes that just can’t happen.

Sophie Molan’s marking contest on the arc of our Fwd fifty, one of our last entries was pathetic.
Absolutely pathetic.
She’s taller than KB played twenty AFLW games and gets pushed around like a first gamer.
That’s just about commitment and effort and the reason I’m so pissy is because I said exactly the same thing the last game they played.
Really lacked a CHF, maybe they can put some time into Elle learning it because without KB we got no one as a mobile target transitioning forward.

Williams really looks like she could do something, but it was like she was focussed 100% on the opponent and tackling rather than getting the Sheeran. Frustrating to watch, need to show her videos of Maurice Jnr, if the ball is available he goes for the ball, if the ball is unavailable he destroys the phukker with the ball.
